Abstract

This study investigates how Islamic principles derived from the Qur’an and Hadith such as ihsan (excellence), amanah (trust), accountability, and continuous improvement inform and enrich the concept of educational quality assurance. It aims to examine the relevance of these values to modern quality assurance frameworks and their practical implementation at SMAI Sunan Gunung Jati Tulungagung. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research utilized document analysis, literature review, and field observation. The findings reveal that Islamic values are deeply embedded in the school’s strategic planning, quality programs, performance evaluation, and work culture, providing both ethical guidance and managerial structure. This integration enhances the effectiveness and integrity of the institution’s quality assurance efforts. The study concludes that harmonizing Islamic teachings with modern quality assurance systems can contribute to a more holistic and value-driven model of educational excellence.

Abstract

This paper explores the strategic development and implementation of a quality assurance (QA) framework in the educational sector, grounded in the ISO 21001:2018 standard. As a specialized management system for educational organizations, ISO 21001:2018 provides a structured approach to enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of educational processes. The standard emphasizes alignment between institutional operations and the expectations of learners, educators, and other relevant stakeholders. Through a qualitative library research methodology, this study reviews and synthesizes academic literature, policy documents, and institutional case studies that discuss the application of ISO 21001:2018 within various educational settings. The core principles of the standard stakeholder-centered management, strong leadership, engagement of people, process-oriented strategies, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decision-making are examined and incorporated into the design of a strategic QA framework suitable for educational institutions of different types and scales. The findings reveal that implementing a QA system based on ISO 21001:2018 fosters institutional accountability, promotes systematic performance monitoring, and ensures continuous feedback loops for educational improvement. The proposed framework encourages educational organizations to integrate quality planning into strategic decision-making and to align their mission, vision, and educational goals with globally recognized quality benchmarks. Adopting ISO 21001:2018 as the foundation for quality assurance not only strengthens institutional governance but also significantly contributes to better learning outcomes, stakeholder satisfaction, and long-term sustainability. This study recommends that educational institutions consider ISO 21001:2018 not merely as a compliance tool but as a strategic asset for quality transformation.

Abstract

This article explores the development of a quality assurance system model grounded in ISO 21001:2018 and its practical implementation within educational institutions. ISO 21001:2018 is an internationally recognized standard specifically tailored for Education Organization Management Systems (EOMS), aiming to enhance the effectiveness of educational processes while meeting the needs and expectations of learners and other stakeholders. This study employs a literature review methodology using a descriptive-analytical approach to examine the core principles and operational requirements of the standard. The findings highlight ISO 21001:2018’s emphasis on a process-based management approach, continuous quality improvement, and learner-centered outcomes. Successful implementation of the standard necessitates strong leadership commitment, adequate training of human resources, and the establishment of a sustainable internal evaluation and audit mechanism. By adopting ISO 21001:2018, educational institutions can foster a structured culture of quality that systematically supports improved learning performance and institutional accountability.
