Abstract

The problem of industrial waste in Batam City has not been fully solved. For this reason, this study was conducted to examine the concept of the application of the waste exchange and the applications. The waste exchange aims to help industries, especially for manufacturing industry, to solve their waste by opening business opportunities for waste users. It also help related agencies to monitoring and manifesting waste. It can be used as the initiator of joint office to oversee the possibility of transactions and waste traffic, so the waste does not cause impact on the environment. This research was carried out using in-depth interview techniques and consultations. Determining respondents is done by using purposive sampling, which is the respondents are determining by certain considerations. The AHP method used to carry out factors that influence of the waste exchange formation and strategic recommendations to the relevant agency of establishing waste exchange in Batam City. The results of the AHP analysis of the main factors that were prioritized by agency respondents were economic factors (32.4%) and the factors that had the lowest priority were organizational governance (17.1%). Respondents to waste utilization or waste users, technology availability factors have a high priority (43.1%) and the characteristics of waste characteristics have the lowest priority (20%)

Abstract

Mikroplastik   merupakan   partikel   plastik dengan rentang ukuran 5 mm. Mikroplastik dapat berupa mikroplastik primer dan mikroplastik sekunder. Sampah plastik, ketika dilepaskan atau dibuang ke air sebagai sedimen dengan konsentrasi yang lebih berbahaya, secara otomatis akan terbentuk di air laut. Beberapa logam yang mencemari air akibat kontaminasi sampah plastik, seperti logam berat dan bahan kimia organik, dapat meracuni manusia yang mengonsumsi biota laut yang terkontaminasi. Indonesia saat ini menghadapi darurat mikroplastik. Sebagai salah satu negara dengan produksi sampah plastik terbesar, maka Indonesia sendiri memiliki tanggung jawab besar dalam mengatasi masalah ini. Sayangnya, kesadaran masyarakat mengenai bahaya mikroplastik masih sangat rendah. Banyak yang belum memahami dampak jangka panjang dari penggunaan plastik sekali pakai terhadap ekosistem dan kesehatan manusia. Pengabdian ini dirancang untuk memberikan wawasan dan keterampilan praktis kepada anggota Aisyiyah Patrang. Kegiatan meliputi sosialisasi, workshop, dan aksi nyata yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan mengubah perilaku masyarakat dalam mengelola sampah plastik. Dengan pendekatan ini, diharapkan tercipta kesadaran kolektif yang mampu mengurangi dampak mikroplastik secara berkelanjutan. Adapun tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan edukasi kepada anggota Aisyiyah Patrang tentang mikroplastik dan bahaya yang ditimbulkannya.

Abstract

The potential benefits of a beach for the surrounding community are numerous, including increasing the tourism sector and supporting the economy of local residents. Apart from this potential, there is also the potential for disasters, one of which is ROB flooding. Recently there was a tidal flood that hit the southern coast, causing seawater to enter residential areas and damage various public facilities in the Puger coastal area. The aim of this research is to identify the influence of tidal floods that occurred in the southern coastal area of ​​Puger, on groundwater quality, in terms of water quality in accordance with the quality standards of Minister of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2023 concerning Implementing Regulations of Government Regulation Number 66 of 2014 concerning Environmental Health. The method used is descriptive qualitative conservation data and sampling at three locations by conducting laboratory tests. From this research, it can be concluded that there is a decline in the quality of groundwater in the affected area which includes three observation locations. Where the TDS parameter is still below the quality standard of <300 mg/L, while for salinity and e-coli each has a value greater than the established quality standard. In this study, both parameters had <0% with values ​​for sampling 1 (2 per cent) sampling 2 (0.9 per cent) and sampling 3 (0.5 per cent ), for salinity and <0 CFU/100ml for e-coli content with values ​​for sampling 1 (50 CFU/100ml), sampling 2 (70 CFU/100ml) and sampling 3 (100 CFU/100ml). The ROB floods that occur in coastal areas result in the quality of groundwater becoming polluted and it must be treated first before it can be used by local communities.

Abstract

Aktivitas penambangan batu kapur dan lalu lintas kendaraan berpotensi menurunkan kualitas udara ambien serta menimbulkan risiko kesehatan bagi masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kualitas udara ambien di kawasan penambangan gunung kapur Kecamatan Puger, Kabupaten Jember. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pengukuran lapangan menggunakan detektor gas pada lima titik lokasi dengan kondisi lalu lintas berbeda. Parameter yang diukur meliputi H₂S, CO, O₂, dan LEL. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi CO melebihi baku mutu pada hampir semua titik kondisi ramai, sementara H₂S melampaui ambang batas pada titik 2 dan 5 kondisi ramai. Parameter O₂ masih dalam kategori aman, sedangkan LEL tidak terdeteksi. Secara umum kualitas udara di kawasan penelitian dipengaruhi oleh aktivitas penambangan dan transportasi. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengendalian emisi dan pemantauan berkala untuk mencegah dampak negatif terhadap kesehatan masyarakat dan lingkungan.

Abstract

PHBS merupakan singkatan dari Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat yaitu sekumpulan perilaku yangdipraktekkan atas dasar kesadaran sebagai upaya agar dirinya sehat dan aktif membantu kesehatanlingkungan di sekitarnya. PHBS pada usia dini sangat baik untuk mendidik dan menanamkankesadaran akan pentingnya kebersihan sebagai upaya menjaga kesehatan diri dan lingkungan.Penyuluhan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang PHBS kepada anaksekolah dalam hal ini siswa-siswi SDN Karangsono 04, sehinggapeserta didik dapat mempraktekkannya dalam kehidupansehari-hari. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan dengan penyuluhan kepada peserta didik sebanyak 40 siswa yang terdiri dari 22 perempuan dan 18 laki-laki. Penyuluhan PHBS pada anak sekolah berjalan lancar, semua peserta didik antusias mengikuti kegiatan penyuluhan ini.

Abstract

Sampah kertas merupakan salah satu sampah yang banyak dihasilkan dari kegiatan perkantoran, rumah tangga maupun kegiatan akademik. Sumber penghasil sampah kertas didominasi oleh kegiatan akademik, hal tersebut dikarenakan kegiatan akademik berhubungan langsung dengan kertas. Limbah kertas menjadi salah satu masalah yang serius bagi bumi ini (Arfah.,2017). Recycle atau daur ulang sampah kertas menjadi produk yang bernilai lebih menjadi salah satu solusi dari bebrapa permasalahan lingkungan yang terjadi pada saat ini. Mendaur ulang kertas membantu pemerintah dalam program penanggulangan sampah. dalam prosesnya perlu adanya kerja sama dari berbagai pihak dan elemen masyarakat. Perlu adanya pengenalan keterampilan, pemahaman dan bimbingan mengenai pentingnya pemanfaatan sampah kertas kepada generasi milenial. Generasi milenial merupakan generasi perubahan, Generasi ini sangat kaya akan ide kreatif dan inovatif. Berbagai informasi yang mudah diakses,membuka pikiran tentang pentingnya sesuatu yang terbarukan, unik, menarik dan berdaya saing.(Hardika dkk.,2018). Dikarenakan sasaran utama kegiatan ini adalah generasi milenial maka pengabdian bekerjasama dengan karang taruna untuk merealisasikan kegiatan ini. Pelaksanaan kegiatan PkM ini menggunakan metode demosntrasi dan pelatihan secara langsung. Hasil dari PkM ini adalah para peserta dapat memahami bahwasannya sangat penting menjaga lingkungan dan memanfaatkan kembali limbah yang telah dihasilkan (kertas) secara kreatif dengan mudah untuk menjadi kertas baru yang bermanfaat dan berniali jual serta menjadikannya sebagai peluang usaha yang menjanjikan kedepannya.

Abstract

Sampah organik merupakan salah satu sampah yang banyak dihasilkan dan menjadi salah satu polemik masalah persampahan di Indonesia yang terus menjadi perbincangan. Timbulan samapah di Indonesia dari 177 Kabupaten pada tahun 2023 sebesar 20,6 juta ton/tahun dengan sampah yang terkelola masih 65,4% dan 34,6% sampah yang belum terkelola. Kabupaten Lumajang merupakan salah satu Kabupaten dengan mayoritas penduduknya bekerja sebagai petani dan pedagang yang merupakan sumber penghasil sampah organik. Minimnya informasi mengenai pengolahan sampah organik di kalangan masyarakat menjadi salah satu faktor permasalahan dalam pengelolaan sampah. Perlu adanya sosialisasi dan bimbingan mengenai pengolahan sampah khususnya sampah organik menjadi eco-enzym kepada masyarakat. Dikarenakan sasaran utama kegiatan ini adalah Masyarakat sekitar daerah yang mayoritas penduduknya bekerja sebagai petani dan pedagang maka pengabdian bekerjasama dengan masyarakat kelompok petani dan pedagang di Desa Kedungmoro Kecamatan Kunir Kabupaten Lumajang untuk merealisasikan kegiatan ini. Pelaksanaan kegiatan PkM ini menggunakan metode sosialisasi, demonstrasi dan pelatihan secara langsung. Hasil dari PkM ini adalah para peserta dapat memahami bahwasannya sangat penting menjaga lingkungan dan memanfaatkan kembali sampah organik (kulit buah-buahan) yang telah dihasilkan menjadi produk Eco-Enzym Multifungsi yang bermanfaat bagi kesehatan manusia dan lingkungan serta berniali jual yang menjadikannya sebagai peluang usaha yang menjanjikan kedepannya. Sekitar 87% masyarakat tersebut paham dan antusias dengan materi yang diberikan.

Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus Linnaeus, 1758) aquaculture generates nutrient-rich wastewater containing ammonia, nitrate, and phosphate that may degrade receiving water quality and promote eutrophication. Microalgae-based phytoremediation has emerged as a sustainable alternative for nutrient removal while simultaneously producing valuable biomass. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Spirulina sp. in treating tilapia aquaculture wastewater and to assess its growth performance under different wastewater concentrations. A laboratory experiment was conducted using five treatments consisting of a negative control (wastewater without Spirulina), a positive control (Spirulina cultured in 100% Zarrouk medium as the optimum growth reference), and wastewater concentrations of 25% (P1), 50% (P2), and 75% (P3). Ammonia, nitrate, and phosphate concentrations were analyzed every two days. At the same time, the relative growth of Spirulina sp. was monitored daily, and chlorophyll content was determined at the end of the cultivation period. The positive control cultivated in 100% Zarrouk medium, representing the optimum growth condition, achieved the highest relative growth of 716.9% on day 9 and the highest chlorophyll content of 0,62 mg/L. In comparison, wastewater treatments resulted in lower physiological performance but demonstrated considerable phytoremediation capacity, with maximum removal efficiencies for ammonia, nitrate, and phosphate of 48.79%, 71.87%, and 55.68%, respectively. Moderate wastewater concentrations produced superior phytoremediation performance compared with higher wastewater loading, indicating that excessive nutrient concentrations reduced nutrient assimilation efficiency. Wastewater concentrations above the optimum level also suppressed the physiological performance of Spirulina sp., as reflected by lower relative growth and chlorophyll content. These findings demonstrate that Spirulina sp. is a promising eco-friendly phytoremediation agent for tilapia aquaculture wastewater and highlight the importance of optimizing wastewater concentration to achieve both high nutrient removal efficiency and sustainable microalgal growth. Keywords: Spirulina sp., Tilapia, Phytoremediation, Aquaculture, Wastewater

Abstract

Hazardous and toxic waste (B3 waste) management in higher education environments isimportant to prevent environmental pollution and health risks caused by improper wastehandling. Campus operational activities, laboratories, ofces, and facility maintenance activitieshave the potential to generate various types of hazardous waste that require proper managementaccording to environmental regulations. This study aimed to identify the types, characteristics,sources, and generation of B3 waste produced at Campus X. The research used a descriptiveobservational method through direct eld observations, waste generation measurements forseven consecutive days, documentation, and short interviews during the observation process.The results showed that hazardous waste generated at Campus X originated from laboratoryactivities, ofce activities, campus operational activities, and equipment maintenance. Theidentied waste types included electronic waste, used batteries, expired chemicals, infectiouswaste, uorescent lamps, and used hazardous waste packaging. The total hazardous wastegeneration during the observation period reached 57.53 kg with an average generation of 8.22kg/day. Most of the waste characteristics were classied as toxic, corrosive, infectious,ammable, and environmentally hazardous. The study also found that hazardous wastesegregation and temporary storage practices at Campus X were still not fully implementedaccording to technical standards. Therefore, improvements in waste segregation systems,provision of temporary storage facilities, and strengthening of hazardous waste managementpractices are necessary to support environmentally sustainable campus management.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems play an essential ecological role in coastal environments by stabilizing sediments and trapping various pollutants, including microplastics. Increasing plastic waste generated by human activities has contributed to the accumulation of microplastics in coastal ecosystems, particularly within mangrove sediments. This study aimed to analyze microplastic abundance in mangrove sediments based on mangrove density in the mangrove area of Cemara Beach, Puger, Jember. Sediment sampling was carried out at four observation points representing different environmental characteristics and levels of human activity, namely tourism areas, residential areas, central mangrove zones, and areas remote from human activities. Microplastic abundance was determined by calculating the number of particles identified in each sediment sample and expressing the results as particles per gram of sediment. The findings revealed that microplastics were present at all sampling locations with a total abundance of 0.885 particles/gram. The highest abundance was recorded at the residential area (0.650 particles/gram), while the lowest abundance was found at the site far from human activities (0.019 particles/gram). Mangrove density varied among observation points and contributed to sediment retention; however, microplastic abundance was not determined solely by vegetation density. Human activities, particularly those related to settlements and tourism, appeared to play a substantial role in increasing microplastic inputs into the mangrove ecosystem. These findings highlight the ecological function of mangroves as natural traps for microplastics and emphasize the need for improved coastal waste management and mangrove conservation to reduce microplastic contamination in coastal environments.
