Abstract

Student academic achievement is influenced by various factors, including the effectiveness of principal supervision and teacher motivation in the learning process. This study aims to analyze the influence of principal supervision as an instructional leadership function and teacher motivation on student academic achievement. A quantitative approach with a survey design was employed. The sample consisted of 44 respondents, including grade IV, V, and VI teachers as well as grade V students from several elementary schools in Cirebon Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, document analysis, and questionnaires, and were statistically analyzed using the product-moment correlation formula. The results indicate that: (1) principal supervision has a positive effect on student academic achievement, contributing 55.4%; (2) teacher motivation also positively affects student achievement, contributing 53.8%; and (3) there is a significant simultaneous effect of both principal supervision and teacher motivation on student academic achievement, as indicated by a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. This study provides empirical evidence highlighting the importance of principals’ supervisory roles and the enhancement of teacher motivation in improving student learning outcomes. The findings suggest the need for leadership training programs for principals and professional development initiatives for teachers as key strategies to improve the quality of education at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in Community Learning Centers (PKBM) plays a strategic role in instilling religious values while fostering social and ecological awareness among learners. In the context of the global environmental crisis, an ecotheological approach offers a relevant alternative to strengthen spirituality oriented toward environmental preservation. This study aims to examine the implementation of a hadith on cleanliness, particularly the hadith "At-thuhūru syathrul īmān" (cleanliness is part of faith), within ecotheology-based PAI learning at PKBM Harmoni, Cirebon, West Java. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, using data collection techniques such as observation, in-depth interviews with tutors and learners, and documentation analysis of teaching materials. The data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman. The results show that integrating spiritual and ecological values into PAI learning enhances eco-faith awareness, strengthens religious attitudes, and encourages learners to take real actions in maintaining cleanliness and caring for the environment. This study contributes to the development of a contextual and transformative model of Islamic education in non-formal learning settings and opens up possibilities for integrating ecotheology into character education and environmental awareness based on Islamic values.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the implementation of QS. Al-Baqarah verse 26 and QS. Ali Imran verse 64 in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning at the elementary school level through a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) approach to instill the values of multiculturalism. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method using literature review, observation, and interviews as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that PjBL-based IRE learning is effective in shaping students’ multicultural character, thereby making religious education more relevant and meaningful within its social context. This article recommends PjBL as a character education strategy that can strengthen tolerance and inclusivity in elementary schools. The PjBL approach was chosen because it enables students’ active engagement across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains through contextual and collaborative project activities. Its implementation is reflected in simple yet meaningful projects that foster cooperation, creativity, and value reflection, allowing students not only to understand the textual meaning of the verses but also to internalize moral messages of tolerance, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence in diversity. Furthermore, the school environment is utilized as a social laboratory that reinforces the learning of these values through cross-group social interactions. Thus, this study emphasizes that integrating Qur’anic values through PjBL can serve as a strategic model in religious education to cultivate a tolerant, inclusive generation prepared to live in a multicultural society.
