Abstract

The crisis of religious tolerance in Indonesia, as well as the challenges of the digital era, are significant obstacles to the implementation of planting or pioneering the church. This research employs a qualitative method with a literature study approach, utilizing the Bible as the primary source, and is supported by various books and articles relevant to the research topic. The results show that church planting is a critical and urgent call to restore the authentic and appropriate meaning of the Gospel in the context of the crisis of religious tolerance and the dynamics of the digital era. The church can no longer fulfill its duties using conventional methods and rigid rules. Therefore, the Church needs to be adaptive and relevant to the times, without neglecting its theological foundations and mission vocation. With this approach, church planting can be an effective strategy in facing these challenges. Abstract

This paper discusses the Bolanafo of marriage in Nias society. The focus of discussion in this paper is how important Bolanafo is as a factor in the traditional marriage of the Nias tribe and how Christianity theologically views Bolanafo. To fulfill the research objectives, a number of literature studies were conducted by utilizing literature and conducting interviews related to Bolanafo in the Nias marriage system. All the literature data was processed and analyzed, as a research conducted by literature study, the results of this research are presented descriptively. The culture in Nias marriage is still very strong and is practiced until today. It must be realized that serving bolanafo in a Nias wedding is not something that is outdated or involves a complicated process. Doing so is an effort to maintain identity as Ono Niha wherever they are.

Abstract

Abstract: Environmental degradation, particularly deforestation, is a global ecological issue that even touches on the spiritual dimension of human life. In Indonesia, this phenomenon is also occurring in the Kendeng Mountains, specifically in Dukuh Gower, where uncontrolled human activities have caused significant forest degradation. This article examines the implementation of spiritual mandates through a reforestation program carried out by the Bukit Asri Sentosa Cooperative (BAS) in Dukuh Gower, Central Java. The research approach is qualitative-descriptive using a case study method, employing interview techniques and field documentation. The research findings indicate that the BAS Cooperative's reforestation program not only serves as an ecological effort to mitigate floods and environmental damage but also as an expression of members' faith in the form of responsibility toward God's creation, by the Cultural Mandate (Genesis 1:26-28). Despite facing various challenges, such as funding and social resistance, the program has yielded initial positive impacts and holds significant potential to become a model for faith-based conservation in other regions.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), has brought significant changes to Christian liturgical practices. Worship, which was once physical in nature, is now also conducted virtually through digital platforms, even involving AI as a technical support tool in liturgy. This shift raises a critical theological question: can the Holy Spirit be present and work through artificial intelligence, which is non-personal and programmed, within digital liturgy? This article aims to critically examine this issue through a pneumatological approach. The study employs a qualitative method using a literature review. The findings indicate that although AI can assist in technical aspects of worship such as composing sermons, prayers, or liturgical content AI does not possess spiritual attributes, consciousness, or will as the Holy Spirit does. The Holy Spirit is a Divine Person who works personally and transcendentally within the community of faith. His presence cannot be replaced by digital systems or algorithmic media that are impersonal in nature. In conclusion, AI can function only as a technical tool in worship but cannot serve as a medium for the Holy Spirit’s presence. The Church must develop the use of technology wisely and theologically, so as not to obscure the role of the Holy Spirit in worship, and to preserve the authenticity of spirituality and the faith community in the face of digital transformation. Therefore, this study contributes to the discourse of digital theology and contemporary pneumatology by highlighting the ontological and theological limitations of AI in the context of divine presence, while also expanding interdisciplinary discussions between technology, liturgy, and the presence of the Holy Spirit in increasingly digital worship spaces

Abstract

Learning fatigue is a serious challenge in the world of education, including in Christian Religious Education (CRE) subjects. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of active learning methods in overcoming learning fatigue among students in CRE subjects. Furthermore, it aims to provide theoretical and practical contributions to the field of basic education, particularly in formulating more adaptive, interactive, and psychologically appropriate learning approaches. This article employs a qualitative research method by analyzing the effectiveness of active learning methods as a solution to address such boredom. Active learning methods, which include strategies such as group discussions, simulations, role-playing, and project-based learning, have proven to increase students' cognitive, emotional, and social engagement. In addition to providing an enjoyable learning experience, this approach also reinforces Christian values in the context of PAK learning. This article concludes that active learning is not only capable of reducing learning boredom but also improving the quality of the learning process holistically. Therefore, teachers need to continuously develop their pedagogical and spiritual competencies to achieve transformative PAK learning that frees students from boredom. This study is expected to serve as a practical reference for teachers and policymakers in designing relevant, interactive, and contextual learning strategies. Moreover, the implementation of active learning methods in CRE subjects can also foster a deeper connection between students and the spiritual teachings of Christianity. By engaging students through hands-on activities such as role-playing biblical stories or collaborating on projects related to Christian values, students are encouraged to actively reflect on their faith in a more meaningful and personal way.

Abstract

Poverty continues to be a significant challenge in Indonesia, especially for communities that are marginalized and struggle to gain access to business capital. Microloans are a strategic approach that can meet financial needs while having the capacity to evolve into a comprehensive form of church ministry based on Christian principles. This research aims to analyze and explain the function of microloans as an access ministry in the context of Christian ethics, which addresses the economic needs of the underprivileged while fulfilling the church's mandate to provide holistic ministry. Then, to show that microloans can be a strategic instrument to achieve social transformation through Biblical values, as well as a tangible manifestation of love and justice in contemporary society. This article uses a qualitative approach through a literature review to look at the function of microloans as a ministry of the church within the framework of economic empowerment and social justice. Grounded in the principle of love (Matthew 22:37-40) and the cultural mandate (Genesis 1:28), microloans become an alternative expression of the church's mission to restore dignity and improve the welfare of the poor, opening opportunities for evangelism and expanding the impact of holistic ministry amid contemporary socio-economic challenges.

Abstract

Transhumanism promises a life without limits, enhanced intelligence, and even immortality, increasingly influencing Generation Z's perspective in shaping their identity and spirituality. This study aims to analyze the influence of transhumanist narratives on Generation Z's worldview within the context of their identity as God's creation, and to develop relevant theological reflections to strengthen Generation Z's faith formation amid the challenges of digital culture and contemporary technological ideologies. A qualitative research method based on literature review was used in this study, exploring theological sources, the Bible as the primary source, books, articles, and internet websites. The results of the study indicate that transhumanism obscures the essence of humanity as God's creation, reduces spiritual identity to a mere technological enhancement project, and offers false salvation outside of Christ's redemptive work. Theological reflection rooted in the doctrines of creation, the incarnation of Christ, and the resurrection affirms that human identity is determined by one's relationship with God, not by technological autonomy. This study concludes that the church and Christian faith education must be present in a contextual and prophetic manner in guiding Generation Z to reject the transhumanist narrative and grow in true faith.

Abstract

Abstract: The sandwich generation phenomenon refers to adults who are caught between the obligations of caring for their aging parents and raising their own children. This situation creates complex pressures, including financial, emotional, and social aspects. This article aims to examine the double burden faced by the sandwich generation from a Christian ethical perspective using a qualitative method based on a literature review. The Bible emphasizes the importance of honoring parents and the responsibility to raise children with love as fundamental principles in family life. Christian ethics provide a normative framework so that responsibilities toward parents and children are not viewed merely as a social burden, but as an expression of obedience to God. The principles of love, justice, stewardship, and Christian spirituality serve as a practical foundation for balancing roles in the nuclear family without neglecting intergenerational obligations. Thus, the application of Christian ethics is expected to help the sandwich generation live a more balanced, meaningful life in accordance with God's will. Abstract

This study is motivated by the continuing strong eschatological uncertainty in the understanding of death among the Nias people, including among Ono Niha Christians, due to the breakdown of theological dialogue between the Gospel and the local concept of Teteholi Ana'a since the missionary era. The purpose of this study is to reconstruct the concept of Teteholi Ana'a in the context of death based on Jesus' teaching about the Father's house in John 14:1-4. The method used is qualitative research with a literature study approach, through an analysis of Nias cosmology, an exposition of the text of John 14:1-4 based on the Greek text NA-28, and the application of Watson and Watson's theory of deculturalization of the Gospel. The results and discussion show that Teteholi Ana'a can be reinterpreted theologically as a symbol of the universal revelation of human longing for a divine place, which finds its full meaning in Christ's eschatological promise. The thesis statement of this research affirms that the reconstruction of Teteholi Ana'a in the light of John 14:1-4 enables a biblical encounter between the Gospel and culture and builds healthy discipleship for the Nias church today.

Abstract

Eschatological hope is an important foundation of the Christian faith, but in practice it is often distorted when congregations are confronted with the reality of death. Greco-Roman religious and philosophical views also influenced the Thessalonian congregation, causing them to experience excessive grief. This article analyzes the term "koimomenon" in 1 Thessalonians 4:13 and its contribution to the formation of believers' eschatological hope. This study employs a qualitative literature review method with an exegetical-semantic approach, including lexical, grammatical, historical, and theological analyses of the Greek text of the New Testament (NA27). The results indicate that Paul uses the term "koimomenon" as a theological metaphor to emphasize the transience of believers' deaths and the continuity of their relationship with Christ.
