Abstract

The increasing population in Makassar City each year has led to a rise in the number of motor vehicle drivers. This study aims to analyze intersections and provide solutions. At the T-junction of Jalan Abdullah Daeng Sirua and Jalan Adyaksa Baru, delays arise due to side obstacles, including vehicles entering and exiting from Jalan Inspeksi Kanal, as well as the presence of restaurants, businesses, and service providers along the intersection’s edges. Limited parking spaces cause many vehicles to stop haphazardly. Another cause of congestion at this intersection is the narrow Daeng Sirua Bridge, which creates traffic jams along the stretch of road at the T-junction of Jalan Abdullah Daeng Sirua and Jalan Adyaksa Baru. To address these issues, solutions include road widening, bridge expansion, and reconfiguration of traffic lights at the intersection. The Level of Service (LOS) at the current conditions shows Approach Code A (Jalan Abdullah Daeng Sirua) rated as D, Approach Code B (Jalan Abdullah Daeng Sirua) rated as F, and Approach Code C (Jalan Adyaksa Baru) rated as C.

Abstract

Abstract

The administrative process of Kerja Praktek (KP) and Tugas Akhir (TA) in the Industrial Engineering Department ITEBA is still conducted manually, which often causes problems in registration, data recording, student progress monitoring, and communication between students, supervisors, and coordinators. This study aims to design a web-based information system to support more efficient, transparent, and structured KP and TA management. The method used is system modeling with the DFD approach and implemented with Glide App. The results produced an information system with key features such as online registration, document upload, progress monitoring, dashboards for students, supervisors, and coordinators, document archiving. Functionality testing showed that all features operated as required, while user satisfaction surveys indicated that 85% students, 90% supervisors, and 80% coordinators felt that the system improved convenience, efficiency, and transparency in KP and TA process. These findings indicate that the system successfully addresses manual administration issues and serves as a foundation for the future development of broader digital academic system.

Abstract

Distribution is a critical component of logistics systems, especially in the food industry where perishable products such as frozen chicken require strict temperature control and timely delivery. CV XYZ, a frozen chicken distributor in Batam, encounters several operational challenges, including high transportation costs, limited cold chain infrastructure, and inefficient allocation of distribution routes. These issues not only increase operational expenses but also pose risks to product quality and delivery reliability. Therefore, an effective distribution strategy is required to ensure cost efficiency and service performance. This study aims to identify the most efficient transportation method to minimize distribution costs by applying three initial solution approaches: North West Corner Rule (NWCR), Least Cost (LC), and Vogel’s Approximation Method (VAM). The solutions obtained from each method were further evaluated using the Stepping Stone method to test their optimality. This research adopts a quantitative approach using a mathematical transportation model, with data collected through interviews and direct field observations. The results show that the VAM method produces the lowest initial distribution cost of Rp57,062,000, compared to Rp60,022,000 for the LC method and Rp63,916,000 for the NWCR method. After optimality testing, only the VAM solution remained unchanged, indicating that it had already reached optimality. Thus, VAM is recommended as the most effective method for optimizing frozen chicken distribution costs at CV XYZ Batam.
