Abstract

This study examines the integration of digital technology in learning and the professional development of teachers in the digital era at the elementary school level. The digital transformation requires teachers to master digital competencies in order to deliver interactive and innovative instruction. The study is motivated by various challenges, including limited formal training, inadequate digital infrastructure, and the differing instructional needs between lower and upper elementary levels. A review of literature supports that enhancing digital literacy through TPACK models and intensive training approaches is an effective strategy to improve teaching quality. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with two teachers (from a first-grade class and a fifth-grade class) and current literature studies. Content and thematic analysis were employed to identify key issues regarding technological integration and professional development strategies. The results reveal that limited formal training and digital infrastructure adversely affect the teaching process, while participation in workshops and peer collaboration enhances teachers’ digital competencies. These findings provide strategic recommendations for schools and education authorities to develop continuous training programs tailored to the specific needs of each educational level.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas pengelolaan pariwisata di Nagari Tuo Pariangan, Kabupaten Tanah Datar, Sumatera Barat, melalui pemberdayaan Kelompok Sadar Wisata (Pokdarwis) dan pemanfaatan teknologi informasi berbasis web. Nagari Tuo Pariangan memiliki potensi besar dalam sektor pariwisata berkat keindahan alam dan kekayaan budaya Minangkabau, namun pengelolaannya masih menghadapi tantangan, seperti kurangnya pusat informasi terintegrasi, manajemen yang belum tertata, serta konten promosi yang jarang diperbarui. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode partisipatif aktif, yang melibatkan mitra secara langsung melalui diskusi, demonstrasi, simulasi, dan studi kasus. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi persiapan, pelatihan manajemen website, penerapan teknologi melalui pengembangan website desa wisata, serta pendampingan dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan konseptual dan keterampilan digital peserta, khususnya dalam pengelolaan konten dan penggunaan website pariwisata. Website yang dikembangkan mencakup fitur informasi destinasi, pemesanan, galeri foto, dan kalender kegiatan. Pelatihan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan Pokdarwis dan memperkuat pengelolaan pariwisata berbasis teknologi dan berkelanjutan

Abstract

Elderly learners at the UPTD Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia Binjai under the Dinas Sosial Provinsi Sumatera Utara face challenges related to low daily productivity. Most elderly residents spend their time passively in their respective dormitories due to the limited variety of functional activity programs. This community service activity aimed to enhance the productivity, knowledge, and practical skills of 30 elderly learners through training in processing and cultivating herbal plants. The Adult Education (Andragogy) approach was implemented using the experiential learning method. The activity began with a preparatory phase involving an interview with the Head of the UPTD to map the issues. The execution phase included ice-breaking activities, elderly gymnastics, educational material presentations, sensory simulation through drinking butterfly pea flower tea together, and hands-on practice in planting butterfly pea flower seeds within the institution's area. The results of the activity showed an increase in psychological happiness and high enthusiasm among the learners, evidenced by a 100% attendance rate (30 elderly) until the end of the session and an average reflective satisfaction score reaching 90% in the highly pleased category. An effective and inclusive knowledge transfer process occurred; elderly learners who were previously unaware of the benefits of the butterfly pea flower gained new insights, while experienced ones actively exchanged perspectives. The distribution and direct planting of seeds successfully created a productive alternative daily activity while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the program within the nursing home environment.
