Abstract

This study analyses research trends regarding students' learning motivation and cognitive development in Southeast Asia from 2014 to 2024 using bibliometric analysis. The study examines the necessity for an in-depth comprehension of the growth of educational psychology in this crucial location through the analysis of publishing trends, cooperation networks, and theme advancements. Employing quantitative bibliometric technique, data were gathered from the Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases utilising systematic keyword combinations pertinent to learning motivation, cognitive development, and Southeast Asian nations. The investigation included co-occurrence mapping, temporal visualisation, and theme grouping with VOSviewer software. The findings indicate five primary thematic clusters that embody different theoretical views, illustrating a paradigmatic transition from neurobiological approaches (2014-2016) to contextual-pedagogical themes (2017-2019), ultimately leading to themes of digital-pandemic adaptability (2020-2024). The research delineates the confluence of Self-Determination Theory, Piaget's cognitive development theory, Vygotsky's social constructivism, and executive function theory into a cohesive framework. Prominent topics encompass cultural backdrop, linguistic development, and socioeconomic considerations, illustrating the distinctive complexity of Southeast Asia. The research illustrates the evolution from disparate disciplinary methods to a cohesive multi-theoretical framework, integrating achievement goal theory with growth mindset and the Technology Acceptance Model with self-regulated learning theory. These findings underscore the need for culturally sensitive and technology-enhanced educational techniques that utilise advancements in neuroscience and digital technologies to optimise student learning outcomes in the different socio-cultural contexts of Southeast Asia.

Abstract

This study investigates the intellectual contribution of Nahdlatul Ulama to the development of moderate Islamic educational epistemology during the period 1990-2024 using a comprehensive bibliometric approach. The results show a paradigmatic shift from the classical knowledge transmission approach to an inclusive epistemological framework that combines revealed knowledge, rational reasoning, and the wisdom of the masters. Between 2010 and 2015, the concept of neo-ijtihad as a reconstructive methodology emerged. The intellectual structure shows that figures from the National University have built a broad academic collaboration network, strengthening their epistemological position in global discourse. According to the study, NU has succeeded in developing an epistemology of Islamic education that overcomes the dichotomy between tradition and modernity by using contextual hermeneutics.

Abstract

Traditional markets in Yogyakarta are more than economic hubs; they serve as dynamic cultural spaces that reflect Javanese heritage and identity. With the rise of global tourism and shifting traveler interests toward authentic, immersive experiences, these markets have undergone significant transformation. This study investigates how cultural narratives are reconstructed and utilized in the development of Yogyakarta's traditional markets specifically Beringharjo, Ngasem, and Kranggan as authentic tourism attractions. Employing a qualitative critical ethnography within an interpretive paradigm, data were collected through participant observation, document analysis, and visual studies. Thematic coding and narrative analysis were used to interpret the findings. The research reveals that cultural elements such as rituals, symbols, and spatial arrangements are selectively commodified to meet tourist expectations while local communities actively negotiate and preserve their cultural integrity. Market stakeholders engage in “stagecraft” by adapting traditional practices for tourist consumption without fully losing their original meaning. The results also show the emergence of hybrid cultural expressions shaped by the interplay of digital technologies, tourism trends, and community agency. These narratives are neither static nor purely commercial; instead, they are continuously reinterpreted within broader socio-economic and political contexts. This study contributes to theoretical discussions in heritage tourism by emphasizing cultural narrative as a social construct, while offering practical recommendations for sustainable, participatory tourism models. Ultimately, it concludes that authenticity in tourism is a dynamic process shaped through ongoing dialogue between tradition and modernity.

Abstract

The current study addresses the limitations of contemporary educational frameworks that often compartmentalize cognitive, emotional, and spiritual domains, thereby hindering holistic student development. This study employed a qualitative methodology using a systematic literature review approach. Data were sourced from scholarly articles, neuroscience textbooks, and educational policy documents published between 2020–2025. Document analysis matrices and content analysis protocols were utilized to extract and synthesize conceptual frameworks. The validity of findings was ensured through triangulation, peer reviews, reflexive journaling, and audit trails, implemented across six systematic research stages. Findings reveal that integrating neurocognitive strategies with spiritual practices fosters synergistic brain changes. These include neuroplastic modifications in the prefrontal cortex and limbic system, improving executive functions and emotion regulation. Integrating transcendental meaning-making and attentional control significantly boosts information processing and emotional resilience in learning environments. The implications of this research extend to educational policy, curriculum design, and teacher training, offering a scientific and spiritual synthesis that enriches both pedagogical theory and practice. This model proposes a developmental framework for implementing tailored interventions from early childhood through adulthood, supporting lifelong cognitive-emotional growth grounded in spiritual values.

Abstract

This research looks at the psycho-philosophical framework of the Tazkiyatun Nafs idea and how it affects college students' growth in spiritual-emotional intelligence. The study intends to: (1) investigate Tazkiyatun Nafs' ontological structure in the context of contemporary educational psychology; (2) investigate the epistemological aspects of Tazkiyatun Nafs in the development of spiritual-emotional intelligence; and (3) develop a conceptual model of the integration of Tazkiyatun Nafs within the framework of developing spiritual-emotional intelligence through a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical literature study method. The study's findings show that, in contrast to the traditional educational psychology method, which tends to isolate the cognitive, emotive, and spiritual elements of college students' growth, the ontological framework of Tazkiyatun Nafs provides an integrated picture of these aspects. The epistemological aspects of Tazkiyatun Nafs, according to this study, also include the process of knowledge acquisition that entails awareness change and the growth of the soul's perceptual powers, which combine experiential, intuitive, and intellectual knowledge. Four primary pedagogical techniques were found in this study's axiological aspect for use in higher education curricula: guided contemplative practice, transformational dialogic learning, interdisciplinary knowledge integration, and value-based critical reflection. These results offer a theoretical foundation for the creation of a more integrative and comprehensive educational paradigm that may accommodate students' multifaceted requirements in the contemporary period.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomena of political alienation and the increasing disengagement of Generation Z from the formal political system, emphasizing their trust in political parties. This research employs a bibliometric analysis spanning 25 years (2000–2025) to chart the evolution of scholarship on teenage political disaffection, integrating theories of political alienation, political socialization, and political trust. The findings indicate that traditional frameworks insufficiently address the difficulties of political detachment in the digital age, where helplessness, meaninglessness, and isolation appear in contradictory forms. Notwithstanding Generation Z's extensive connectedness and access to political information, their trust in conventional institutions is markedly diminished. The research emphasizes the preeminence of Western scholarship in this domain, while accentuating the pressing necessity for region-specific investigations in emerging democracies like Indonesia. This research presents a refined analytical framework that incorporates structural, generational, and psychological aspects to comprehend juvenile political estrangement.
