Abstract

The academic success of students is often linked to various factors, including their parents' socioeconomic status (SES). This study aimed to examine the relationship between SES and the academic performance of students in class 2B UPTD SDN Pangeran 3 in English and mathematics, and to identify other factors influencing academic success. The research adopted a qualitative methodology with triangulation techniques. Findings indicated that while SES significantly impacts students' academic achievement, other factors such as parental involvement, motivation to learn, and environmental influences also play a role. The study revealed that in class 2B UPTD SDN Pangeran 3, some students with low SES can achieve high academic results. In contrast, students with high SES may struggle academically due to a lack of parental supervision and uncontrolled technology use. Consequently, this study emphasizes the need for a comprehensive approach to enhance students' academic achievement. Keberhasilan akademik peserta didik seringkali dikaitkan dengan beberapa faktor termasuk status sosial ekonomi (SES) orang tua. Tujuan penelitian yang dilaksanakan yaitu mengetahui korelasi antara SES dengan prestasi akademik peserta didik di kelas 2B UPTD SDN Pangeranan 3 mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris dan matematika, serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor lain yang dapat mempengaruhi keberhasilan akademik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan teknik triangulasi. Penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa meskipun SES berperan penting dalam menentukan prestasi akademik peserta didik, tetapi terdapat faktor-faktor lain yang berkontribusi, seperti keterlibatan orang tua, motivasi belajar, dan pengaruh lingkungan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada kelas 2B UPTD SDN Pangeranan 3 diketahui beberapa peserta didik dengan SES rendah mampu mencapai prestasi akademik tinggi, sedangkan peserta didik dengan SES tinggi mengalami kesulitan belajar disebabkan kurangnya pengawasan orang tua dan penggunaan teknologi yang kurang terkontrol. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya pendekatan secara menyeluruh dalam meningkatkan keberhasilan prestasi akademik peserta didik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pandangan atau perspektif masyarakat di Desa Gerbo, Purwodadi, Pasuruan terkait dengan penerapan lima pilar dari program Sanitasi Total Berbasis Masyarakat (STBM) sebagai cara dalam meningkatkan kesehatan masyarakat. Penelitian ini didasari dari kondisi masyarakat di Desa Gerbo berkegiatan kurang higienis seperti aktivitas mandi, mencuci, buang air besar, dan membuang sampah serta limbah cair di sungai. Metode penelitian menggunakan kualitatif dengan teknik triangulasi. Analisis data menggunakan model Miles Hubberman. Pemilihan informan penelitian menggunakan purposive random sampling sebanyak 30 jiwa yang tersebar di enam dusun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan dari lima pilar STBM di enam dusun Desa Gerbo sudah berjalan akan tetapi belum maksimal. Pilar pertama berupa stop buang air sembarangan sebagian besar sudah diterapkan oleh masyarakat namun mengurangi kebiasaan lama masih menjadi permasalahan. Pilar kedua berupa mencuci tangan menggunakan sabun sudah diterapkan oleh masyarakat walaupun pemakaian sabun kurang diaplikasikan. Pilar ketiga berupa pengelolaan air minum dan makanan rumah tangga sudah menggunakan air PDAM, meskipun sebagian masyarakat masih menggunakan air sungai. Pilar keempat berupa pengamanan sampah rumah tangga sudah tercermin kesadaran untuk memilah dan membuang sampah ke tempat sampah dan melakukan 3R (reduce, reuse, dan recycle), walaupun ditemukan masyarakat yang membakar sampah, memendam sampah, dan membuang sampah ke sungai. Pilar kelima berupa pengamanan limbah cair rumah tangga dengan mulai membangun penampungan septik tank di rumah masing-masing, walaupun ditemukan masyarakat masih membuang limbah langsung ke sungai. Penelitian ini dapat memberikan andil dalam memperkuat kebijakan sanitasi dan kesehatan masyarakat pada wilayah pedesaan.

Abstract

Aim of literature review study is examine social-emotional learning (SEL) can be used to enhance primary school pupils' cognitive learning results. By reviewing five pertinent scholarly journals, the study takes a qualitative approach. Results show that SEL improves students' social emotional capabilities while simultaneously having major positive impact on their academic achievement in classroom. Self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relational skills, and responsible decision-making are the five SEL core competencies. Group conversations, role-playing, and cooperative projects that promote empathy, communication, teamwork, and learning motivation are ways that SEL is incorporated into classroom instruction. Providing a secure, encouraging, and welcoming learning environment, parents' and the community's support is vital, and teachers play a critical role as facilitators. Guarantee sustainable SEL practices, the evaluation also highlights the necessity of school policies and training. As a result, SEL becomes an essential teaching method for encouraging students' overall character development and raising their academic performance.

Abstract

This research was conducted due to the limitations of studies regarding the improvement of cognitive scores from the STAD learning model with the assistance of scaffolding strategies. The application of scaffolding strategies in learning has a positive impact on improving the cognitive learning outcomes of students. This study aims to determine the cognitive learning outcomes of sixth-grade students at the UPTD SDN Keleyan 1 by applying the STAD learning model combined with scaffolding strategies in the subject of Pancasila Education. The research method used is classroom action research (PTK) with a participative type. The target of the study is the sixth grade, consisting of 19 students. Data collection was carried out through observation, tests, and documentation, with data analysis using quantitative descriptive techniques. The results of the study indicate that the STAD learning model combined with scaffolding can improve cognitive learning outcomes in the subject of Pancasila Education through two cycles. There was an improvement from the pre-cycle phase to cycle I of 14.22, with an average score of cycle I of 62.11 and a percentage increase of 29.69%. Furthermore, from cycle I to cycle II, there was a larger increase of 16.84, with an average score of 78.95 and a percentage increase of 27.11% using scaffolding. The main conclusion of this study is the importance of applying scaffolding in an appropriate learning model, one of which is the STAD learning model, to address the cognitive learning outcome gaps of students in the subject of Pancasila Education. The implications of this research are the improvement of cognitive learning outcomes and the application of scaffolding with the STAD learning model to assist students with low cognitive abilities in achieving learning independence. This research can also open up further studies regarding the affective and psychomotor aspects in the application of scaffolding strategies.
