Abstract

This study aims to examine the values of etiquette (adab) of students towards teachers as viewed by three prominent Islamic scholars: Imam Ghazali, Imam Az-Zarnuji, and Imam An-Nawawi. Etiquette towards teachers is considered a fundamental aspect of the teacher-student relationship in Islamic education, which emphasizes not only academic achievement but also moral values and ethics. Imam Ghazali, in his works, stresses the importance of respect, humility, and sincere intention in learning. Imam Az-Zarnuji, in his book Ta'lim al-Muta'allim, offers practical guidelines on student etiquette, including how to speak and behave appropriately towards teachers. Meanwhile, Hadrotus Syaikh Hasyim Asy’ari, in Adabul Alim Wal Muta'allim, advises students to always maintain proper manners with their teachers as a form of respect for both the knowledge and its possessor. This research employs a qualitative approach with content analysis to explore and compare the views of these three scholars regarding student-teacher etiquette. The findings reveal that, despite differences in expression and detail, all three scholars agree on the significance of etiquette as a foundational element in the learning process. These values of etiquette include politeness, exemplarity, respect, and loyalty in the pursuit of knowledge. This study is expected to contribute to the development of Islamic education, particularly in strengthening the harmonious relationship between students and teachers based on the etiquette values espoused by these scholars.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji metode pendidikan yang dikembangkan oleh Imam al-Ghazali dan implikasinya terhadap pembentukan karakter peserta didik. Di tengah krisis moral dan tantangan globalisasi, pendekatan pendidikan yang menekankan pembinaan akhlak dan spiritualitas menjadi sangat penting. Imam al-Ghazali menawarkan pendekatan pendidikan komprehensif yang tidak hanya berfokus pada aspek intelektual, tetapi juga pembentukan jiwa dan moral. Melalui karya-karyanya, al-Ghazali memperkenalkan empat metode utama dalam pendidikan karakter: keteladanan (uswah hasanah), pembiasaan (ta’dib), nasihat (mau’izhah), dan latihan spiritual (riyadhah). Keempat metode ini saling melengkapi dan membentuk dasar pendidikan karakter yang integratif, mencakup dimensi kognitif, afektif, dan spiritual. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui studi pustaka, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa metode pendidikan al-Ghazali tetap relevan dalam konteks pendidikan modern. Implementasi pemikiran al-Ghazali dapat menjadi solusi untuk mengatasi krisis karakter dan membentuk peserta didik yang tidak hanya cerdas secara intelektual, tetapi juga memiliki integritas moral dan spiritual yang kuat.

Abstract

This article discusses the dynamics of Islamic education during the Sultanate of Banten, an Islamic kingdom that developed since the 16th century and became one of the centers of Islamic civilization in the archipelago. Islamic education in Banten not only shapes the Islamic identity of the community, but also strengthens morality, social solidarity, and cultural resilience. Islamic boarding schools are the main pillars of education that integrate the teaching of religious science, character education, and socio-religious practices. The role of pesantren expands, not only as a learning center, but also as a da'wah institution that instills the values of independence, justice, and brotherhood in the midst of a multicultural society. Great scholars such as Sheikh Nawawi al-Bantani and Sheikh Yusuf al-Makassari have an important role in strengthening the scientific network between Banten, the Middle East, and the Islamic world. Their profound works in the fields of jurisprudence, Sufism, and morals had a great influence on the development of Islamic thought in Southeast Asia. The pesantren curriculum that focuses on the yellow book, with the teaching methods of sorogan, bandongan, and wetonan, produces students who are not only knowledgeable, but also disciplined, moral, and sensitive to social problems. The Dutch colonial period brought severe challenges with secular policies and restrictions on Islamic education. However, pesantren still exist as spiritual and intellectual fortresses. This success is supported by the ability of pesantren to develop economic independence and expand scientific networks through the overseas migration of students to various Islamic study centers abroad. Until now, Banten's Islamic education heritage has transformed into a modern Islamic boarding school that is able to combine classical traditions with technology and global insights. This study confirms that traditional Islamic education in Banten has a strategic role in shaping the social, spiritual, and identity structure of the Muslim community, which persists across generations.

Abstract

This study explores the concept of tarbiyah in the hadith of Prophet Muhammad SAW and its relevance to contemporary education. Using a qualitative methods and literature review, the research finds that tarbiyah serves not only as an educational process but also encompasses the development of individual character and morality. The results indicate that the integration of tarbiyah values into modern educational curricula is crucial for creating a holistic learning environment that nurtures both the intellect and the spirit of students. Furthermore, the role of educators as exemplars in applying the principles of tarbiyah is key to shaping a generation that is both intelligent and morally upright. This study also identifies various challenges and opportunities in implementing tarbiyah in the modern era, particularly in the context of globalization and technological advancements. It emphasizes the importance of continuous evaluation in the learning process to ensure the effectiveness of educational practices. By applying the principles of tarbiyah, it is hoped that education can produce individuals who excel academically while also possessing integrity, strong moral character, and high social awareness, contributing positively to society.

Abstract

Penurunan moral di kalangan generasi muda di Indonesia memprihatinkan dan membutuhkan solusi pendidikan yang menekankan pembentukan karakter positif. Pondok pesantren merupakan salah satu institusi yang memiliki peran signifikan dalam mencetak generasi yang berakhlak baik dan berkarakter. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami peran Pondok Pesantren Al Ikhlas Karang Sempu dalam membentuk karakter santri serta mengidentifikasi faktor pendukung dan penghambat yang dihadapi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis dengan metode reduksi, penyajian data, dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran Pondok Pesantren Al Ikhlas efektif dalam membentuk karakter santri melalui keteladanan Kyai dan para ustadz, serta dukungan dari lingkungan sekitar. Faktor pendukung utama adalah adanya figur teladan dan kerja sama antara pondok dengan wali santri dan masyarakat. Namun, terdapat kendala seperti kedisiplinan santri yang rendah dan kurangnya kesadaran terhadap aturan pondok. Kesimpulannya, pondok pesantren dapat berkontribusi signifikan dalam membentuk karakter yang baik pada generasi muda, meskipun masih terdapat beberapa kendala yang perlu diatasi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran strategis guru dalam membentuk peserta didik yang adaptif terhadap perubahan zaman melalui pendekatan pembelajaran inovatif seperti Project-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, Inquiry-Based Learning, dan Design Thinking. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode tinjauan pustaka (literature review), yang bertujuan menghasilkan keluaran berupa analisis data yang tersedia serta penjelasan terhadap suatu temuan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa efektivitas peran guru sangat bergantung pada kesiapan pedagogis, kemampuan integrasi teknologi, dan sensitivitas terhadap konteks sosial serta kebutuhan peserta didik generasi digital. Namun demikian, berbagai tantangan struktural seperti rendahnya pelatihan profesional, keterbatasan fasilitas, serta kurikulum yang kurang fleksibel masih menjadi hambatan implementatif. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan dukungan sistemik melalui kebijakan pendidikan yang berkelanjutan agar guru dapat menjalankan perannya secara optimal dalam mencetak generasi berkarakter dan kompeten menghadapi era disrupsi.
