Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of using the TikTok application on the cognitive development of fifth-grade elementary school students. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques based on a literature review from various credible sources, such as scholarly journals and relevant articles. The data analysis technique used is content analysis of findings and results from the reviewed literature. The results indicate that TikTok usage has dual impacts. On the positive side, it enhances creativity, memory, curiosity, knowledge exploration abilities, and learning motivation. However, uncontrolled use can lead to decreased concentration, exposure to inappropriate content, and the emergence of negative behaviors. Therefore, guidance and supervision from parents and teachers are essential to ensure that TikTok usage provides optimal benefits for children's cognitive development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the learning outcomes of fourth grade students at SDN Banyu Urip IX Surabaya after the implementation of Adobe Flash-based electronic learning media, as well as to examine students’ responses toward the use of this media in the topic of energy transformation. This research employed a quantitative descriptive method with fourth-grade students of SDN Banyu Urip IX Surabaya as the research subjects. Data were collected through observation, documentation, tests, and questionnaires. The Adobe Flash-based learning media were developed to present the material interactively using engaging animations and visuals designed to enhance students’ conceptual understanding. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the percentage of learning outcomes and students’ responses toward the use of the media. The findings indicate that the implementation of Adobe Flash-based learning media improved students’ learning outcomes above the minimum standard and received positive responses from the students. The media were considered attractive, easy to use, and effective in helping students better understand the concept of energy transformation. In conclusion, the use of Adobe Flash based electronic learning media is effective in improving learning outcomes and student motivation in elementary science learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of developing Zep Quiz learning media in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject, students’ responses after using the Zep Quiz learning media, students’ activities during the learning process using Zep Quiz, and students’ IPAS learning outcomes after using Zep Quiz on the topic of the human respiratory system. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model. The research subjects were 23 fifth-grade students of class V-B at SDN Dukuh Kupang V Surabaya. The results showed that the material expert validation obtained a percentage of 84%, categorized as very valid, while the Zep Quiz media validation obtained a percentage of 97.33%, categorized as very valid. Students’ responses toward the use of Zep Quiz achieved a percentage of 91.41%, categorized as very practical, and students’ learning activities reached 100%, categorized as very practical. The IPAS learning outcomes showed an increase from an average Pretest score of 54.78 to an average Posttest score of 88.47 after using Zep Quiz, with an N-gain value of 0.745, which falls into the high category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the development of Zep Quiz learning media in the IPAS subject is effective in improving the learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students.
