Abstract

Ineffective use of learning methods in the conditions and circumstances of students caused the obtained learning objective not achieved or below the standard. This case was determined to be the background for this research. This article described and analyzed the comparative of efficacious methods, modern and traditional learning methods, in Arabic learning. This type of research was an experimental research with a descriptive quantitative approach. The population of this study were fourth-grade students in class IV-A, IV-B and IV-C at MI Al-Ma'had An-Nur Bantul Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, the sample for this research was class IV-A and IV-B with each class consisting of 21 students. The sample in this research was selected with purposive sampling technique. Data collection were obtained through tests, observations, interviews and documentation. Hypothesis testing in this study used a paired sample t-test calculated using the SPSS version 25 application. The results of this study showed that there was a difference in success between modern learning methods of 84.05 and traditional learning methods of 64.05 in accordance with the results of the paired sample test (t-test). Hence, it can be concluded that the results after modern learning methods implementation are considered more effective to apply in the Arabic language learning process. It was expected that the results of this research could be a reference for teachers in determining suitable learning methods for students in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

The study explores innovation in assessing Arabic writing skills (maharah kitabah) through a project-based approach grounded in Transaction Theory. It critiques the 2020 Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs’ Arabic textbook for grade XI, highlighting its limited exercises that nurture students’ written self-expression. Employing library research, the study reviews literature relevant to writing assessment and develops a theoretical model for evaluating writing competence. Findings reveal that project-based assessment can be structured into three core stages—planning, implementation, and reporting—supported by a comprehensive rubric. Assessment aspects include sentence structure, word formation, grammar usage (nahwu–sharaf), writing style, content quality, creativity, vocabulary accuracy, and use of authentic Arabic expressions. This model allows for both formative and summative evaluation, ensuring objectivity and clarity. It not only measures technical proficiency but also provides space for students to express aesthetic, cultural, and philosophical dimensions through writing. Ultimately, the proposed assessment model aims to enhance the quality of Arabic writing instruction and overcome the limitations found in the current textbook evaluations.

Abstract

In an era of globalization marked by developments in technology and cross-cultural communication, Arabic faces significant challenges in maintaining its relevance and appeal among the Alpha generation. The generation born between 2010-2024 is the first generation that has been thoroughly exposed to digital technology from birth, with characteristics that are very different from previous generations. This research aims to analyze the Alpha Generation's perception of Arabic through a psycho-sociolinguistic approach, which examines psychological (interest, motivation and attitudes) and social (influence of the environment, media and global culture) aspects in learning Arabic. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and observations of Generation Alpha students in an Islamic-based education environment. The research results show that the Alpha generation's perception of Arabic is influenced by three main factors: digital exposure, individual psychological constructs, and socio-cultural context. Most of the Alpha Generation have motivation to learn Arabic which is influenced by religious factors, but negative perceptions of the difficulty of this language often reduce their interest. This research is expected to provide new theoretical contributions in understanding the dynamics of language perception in the digital native generation and practical implications for the development of more contextual and innovative Arabic language teaching methods.
