Abstract

Tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Unggulan Universitas Lampung ingin memberikan solusi melalui edukasi kepada peternak melalui penyuluhan manajemen pemeliharaan, biosekuriti, formulasi ransum, serta pembuatan pupuk kompos dalam rangka mendukung tercapainya pencapaian SDGs poin 2 di Indonesia untuk mengakhiri kelaparan, mencapai ketahanan pangan dan nutrisi yang lebih baik dan mendukung pertanian berkelanjutan. Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Kelompok Tani Tunas Karya yang berlokasi di Desa Sidorahayu, Kecamatan Waway Karya, Kabupaten Lampung Limur, Provinsi Lampung. Survei pendahuluan menunjukkan bahwa Kelompok Tani Tunas Karya baru terbentuk dengan minimnya pengalaman dalam beternak sehingga membutuhkan pengetahuan tentang menajemen pemeliharaan, biosekuriti, formulasi ransum, serta pembuatan pupuk kompos. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan dengan metode penyuluhan atau sosialisasi mengenai manajemen pemeliharaan, biosekuriti, formulasi ransum, serta pembuatan pupuk kompos. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana respon peserta terhadap pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian dengan cara membandingkan perubahan nilai pada evaluasi awal (pre-test) dan evaluasi akhir (post-test). Berdasarkan hasil analisis data pre-test dan post-test diketahui terjadi peningkatan persentase pengetahuan peternak terkait manajemen pemeliharaan yaitu sebesar 55,04%; biosekuriti 64,71%; formulai ransum 52,94%, dan pembuatan pupuk kompos 63,45%. Data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa target kegiatan pengabdian ini sudah tercapai yang terlihat dari adanya peningkatan pemahaman peternak mengenai aspek manajemen pemeliharaan, biosekuriti, formulasi ransum, serta pembuatan pupuk kompos. Pencapaian dari kegiatan ini adalah peternak dapat melaksanakan pemeliharaan ternak sapi secara benar untuk dapat memaksimalkan produksi ternak yang akan diperoleh di akhir periode pemeliharaan. Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of organic chromium supplementation on the physiological and hematological responses of male Jawarandu goats subjected to transportation stress. Nine adult male goats aged 1-2 years with an average body weight of 30.84 kg were used consisting of three treatments with three replications: T0 (no supplementation), T1 (0.5 ppm organic chromium), and T2 (1 ppm organic chromium). Transportation was carried out over a distance of 289 km with a travel time of 5 hours using an open-back pickup truck without providing feed or water. The observed parameters included total protein (refractometer), packed cell volume (PCV), basophils, eosinophils, and monocytes, measured before and after transportation. The results showed that organic chromium supplementation had no significant effect on total protein, basophils, eosinophils, and monocytes, but significantly affected PCV values. PCV values across all groups remained within the normal range for ruminants (22-38%), with a decrease in P1 indicating a role in reducing hemoconcentration, and an increase in P2 suggesting a function in maintaining red blood cell levels.

Abstract

The PKM DIPA FP Unila team aimed to enhance the knowledge and technical skills of small ruminant farmers partnered with Teo Farm through a series of six integrated activities conducted from June to July 2025 through: (1) outreach and focused discussions on feed fermentation technology and reproductive management of small ruminants; (2) hands-on training on feed fermentation for the production of complete feed; (3) evaluation of the complete feed through organoleptic assessment, palatability testing, and proximate analysis; (4) provision of mineral premix supplementation; and (5) monitoring and evaluation of program implementation by collecting and analyzing data on the percentage increase in pre-test and post-test scores, based on a structured questionnaire, with results presented in tabular and graphical formats. The outcomes were as follows: 1) extension and training activities were attended by 14 farmers; 2) training on the production of fermented complete feed using a silage method over a 21-day period resulted in three containers with a capacity of 200 kg each; 3) organoleptic evaluation indicated very good quality with high palatability; 4) proximate analysis of the complete feed on a dry matter basis showed 15.89% crude protein, 2.21% crude fat, 30.75% crude fiber, 77.79% moisture content, 13.33% ash content, 37.82% NFE; 5) each farmer received 1 kg of mineral premix; and 6) participants’ knowledge levels increased from 42.86% to 85.71%. In conclusion, outreach on feed fermentation and reproductive management, combined with training in the production of silage-based complete feed, effectively improved the knowledge and skills of small ruminant farmers from a low to a high category, with an overall increase of 42.85%.
