Abstract

Japan is a cultural country that also prioritizes the culture of gratitude. The existing culture of gratitude is manifested as an expression. The purpose of this study is to determine the various expressions of gratitude in Japan. Each expression of gratitude also has cultural significance or cultural significance. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using data collection techniques such as listening, notetaking, and literature study. The sources of expressions of gratitude that appear in the film Kimitachi wa Dou Ikiru ka. The results of this study indicate the existence of several unique expressions of gratitude that are almost never found in other countries.

Abstract

Language skills consist of four aspects, one of which is writing skills. At the junior high school (SMP) level, one of the writing skills taught is writing news texts. In writing news, it is necessary to pay attention to the elements, structure, and linguistic rules. However, in reality, many students still experience difficulties in composing news texts. These difficulties can stem from various factors, such as a lack of understanding of text structure, limited vocabulary, low interest in reading news, and inadequate ability to express ideas coherently and logically. In addition, the limited use of engaging and relevant learning media also presents a challenge in the writing learning process. Teachers are required to provide innovative and creative instruction in order to achieve the learning objectives. Various models, methods, strategies, and learning media can be used to make this happen. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of digital applications in improving students' ability to write news texts. Digital applications are considered suitable and relevant to be implemented in education in line with current technological developments. The method used in this study is a literature review, which aims to analyze the effectiveness of digital applications in enhancing news writing skills. The results of the literature review indicate that the use of digital applications in learning is effective in increasing students’ interest and motivation to learn. In addition, students’ understanding of the subject matter also improves, as evidenced by the fact that students’ scores are now above average.

Abstract

Error checking is a technique for seeing mistakes made by students on the language object path. The aim of this research is to describe the forms of errors and factors that cause errors in the use of the complementary word 出来Chūlái，出去 Chūqù，进来 Jìnlái, 进去Jìnqù among students of the Class of 2021 Mandarin Language Education study program. This research uses descriptive and quantitative research instruments in the form of questions and questionnaires. The theory used in this research is Tarigan's theory. The research data in this study are errors in complementary words obtained from students' written and non-written exam answers. Formation errors were found in the part about filling in gapped sentences, the percentage of incorrect formation errors was 9.09%. Meanwhile, the word incorrectly arranged is found in the part about arranging random sentences into a correct sentence. The percentage of misordering errors is 61,82%. The cause of errors made by students is the lack of mastery of the material regarding the complementary words 出来Chūlái，出去 Chūqù，进来 Jìnlái, 进去Jìnqù as well as the complexity of the sentence structure which is very different from the structure of Indonesian.

Abstract

Kegiatan pendampingan penulisan karya ilmiah ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis ilmiah bagi guru-guru SMP di kabupaten Lamongan sebagai mitra. Kegiatan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil observasi lapangan oleh tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Surabaya terhadap permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh guru-guru SMP di kabupaten Lamongan. Hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa para guru mengalami kesulitan menulis artikel ilmiah, baik dari hasil penelitian maupun non penelitian. Padahal, selain mengajar, guru juga dituntut untuk mampu membuat laporan ilmiah dalam bentuk artikel yang diperoleh dari proses belajar mengajar maupun penelitian. Artikel ilmiah juga menjadi syarat untuk kenaikan pangkat. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut kegiatan pendampingan ini dilaksanakan dengan metode hybrid, yaitu (1) pertemuan secara luring untuk memberikan konsep-konsep pembuatan artikel, (2) memberikan contoh-contoh konkret dan berdiskusi tentang pembuatan artikel, (3) pendampingan pembuatan artikel secara luring dan daring. Kegiatan pendampingan penulisan artikel yang diikuti oleh 32 guru bahasa Indonesia SMP di Kabupaten Lamongan ini dapat terlaksana dengan baik, dan diperoleh hasil sebagai berikut: (1) berdasarkan hasil wawancara, pengetahuan guru-guru tentang penulisan artikel meningkat, (2) semua guru sudah mampu membuat draf artikel, (3) 2 guru mampu menghasilkan artikel yang sudah jadi dan siap untuk dikirim ke jurnal ilmiah, sisanya masih dalam proses penyelesaian.
