Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the capacity of cassava farming communities in Surabaya Baru, Central Lampung, through vocational education focused on the development of value-added cassava-based products. Cassava, a staple crop in the region, has long been sold primarily in raw form, resulting in limited income and low market competitiveness for farmers. The implemented program utilized a participatory and hands-on training model covering technical skills in cassava processing (e.g., into mocaf flour, chips, cakes, and other innovative foods), food safety, business management, and digital marketing strategies. As a result, participants successfully produced a range of processed cassava products that met hygiene and packaging standards, significantly increasing their monthly income from IDR 3,500,000 to IDR 6,000,000. Moreover, the training fostered entrepreneurial mindsets and improved community solidarity, particularly among women. Challenges included limited access to modern processing equipment and the need for consistent product quality and marketing support. Nevertheless, this initiative demonstrated the transformative potential of vocational education in empowering rural communities through local agro-processing innovations, contributing to economic development, food security, and sustainable agribusiness practices. Keywords: agribusiness development, cassava processing, rural community empowerment, value-added products, vocational education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine respondents' perceptions of various aspects of vocational education in supporting community skill development. The research involved seven key variables: skill-based curriculum, availability of training facilities, quality of instructors, practical and applicable learning methods, internship or field practice programs, collaboration with local stakeholders, and alignment of training with local needs. The results show that the majority of respondents rated the quality of instructors (93.3%), practical learning methods (86.7%), and training relevance to local needs (83.3%) as good. However, lower satisfaction was found in the availability of training facilities (60.0%), internship programs (60.0%), and stakeholder collaboration (66.7%). These findings indicate that vocational education has a positive impact on enhancing local human resources, but improvements are still needed in infrastructure and partnerships with the industry to increase its effectiveness and sustainability.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of digital learning in vocational agricultural education, focusing on its challenges and opportunities at SMK Pertanian Alam Nusantara in Central Lampung Regency, Indonesia. As the global education landscape undergoes digital transformation, vocational schools are expected to adapt to ensure that students acquire relevant competencies for the 21st century. This qualitative research employed descriptive methods through observations, interviews, and documentation to analyze the dynamics of digital learning implementation. The findings revealed several key challenges, including limited infrastructure, low digital literacy among teachers and students, and unstable internet connectivity. However, these obstacles were counterbalanced by significant opportunities such as increased student learning autonomy, the transformation of teacher roles into facilitators, and the development of virtual collaborations with industries. The integration of digital platforms also supported the contextualization of learning materials and the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students. In conclusion, while challenges remain, digital learning integration in vocational agribusiness education offers strategic benefits for enhancing the quality and relevance of learning. It requires long-term commitment, strong policy support, and collaboration among schools, industries, and government to build a sustainable digital learning ecosystem
