Abstract

The reformation of the Islamic education curriculum in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) reflects a serious call to align the educational system with the requirements of today’s rapidly evolving era, without neglecting the foundational values of Islam. This reform encompasses not only the substance of the curriculum but also pedagogical perspectives, teaching strategies, and the integration of technology as a supporting tool. The Indonesian government, through the Kurikulum Merdeka policy, has responded to this global necessity by creating space for the application of technology including AI to support a more personalized, adaptive, and solution-oriented learning process. In the context of Islamic education, AI can contribute by simplifying the study of classical texts, accommodating students’ individual learning styles, and streamlining educational administration efficiently. Today, the modern Islamic education curriculum focuses not only on mastering core Islamic sciences such as the Qur'an, Hadith, Fiqh, and Arabic, but also integrates general sciences, life skills, and the development of character and moral values (akhlaq). Fundamental principles such as integrity, balance, rububiyyah (God’s nurturing role), and the holistic development of the human being serve as the main framework in designing a curriculum with a comprehensive approach. The main challenge in AI integration lies in maintaining ethics, morality, and data security in its implementation so that it does not deviate from Islamic values. With the right approach, modern Islamic education in the era of AI is expected to produce a generation of individuals with noble character, global insight, and strong competitiveness.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the Al-Azhar Student Profile approach in developing citizenship character at the Elementary School level. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation studies at the Al-Azhar Islamic Education Foundation Elementary School. The results of the study indicate that the development of citizenship character is implemented through six main dimensions, namely Manners, Warrior Character, Scholarly, Skilled, Love for the Homeland and Global Insight, and Physically and Spiritually Healthy. This approach is implemented consistently through intracurricular, cocurricular, extracurricular activities, and school culture that shape religious values, nationalism, intelligence, 21st-century skills, and physical-spiritual balance. The conclusion of this study confirms that the Al-Azhar Student Profile provides a comprehensive and applicable framework in developing sustainable citizenship character in Elementary Schools, supported by synergy between schools, teachers, parents, and the environment.

Abstract

This article discusses the creative process in the creation of batik motifs as a learning medium for local culture-based art in elementary schools. Art learning through batik is seen as one of the effective approaches to develop creativity, cultural appreciation, and fine motor skills of students. This article focuses on the study of the creative process of creating batik motifs as a learning medium, the stages of the creative process which include the exploration of ideas, motif design and reflection of the work. Through an experiential learning pedagogical approach, students are given the opportunity to understand local cultural values while expressing their visual ideas freely and in a directed way. The motifs developed refer to regional cultural symbols, such as flora, and traditional geometric shapes, which are then processed into batik designs that are relevant to the aesthetic characteristics of elementary school children. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, which is carried out through a literature review and reflection on the author's experience in participating in batik design workshops. The creative process studied includes the stages of preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification, all of which are relevant to be applied in fine arts learning. In this study, it is shown that integrating batik as a learning medium can develop visual skills, instill a sense of cultural love, and form characters such as perseverance, appreciation, and creativity. Therefore, the creative process of making batik can be an effective learning strategy in the context of the Independent Curriculum.
