Abstract

This study aims to develop a learning medium in the form of an e-magazine based on Discovery Learning integrated with Qur’anic verses, as well as to examine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students’ learning outcomes on the respiratory system material for Grade XI. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. The instruments used in this study included interview sheets and questionnaires. The results showed that validation by material, media, and Qur’anic integration experts indicated that the e-magazine was in the “very valid” category for use in learning, with a score of 97%. Students’ responses to the medium were categorized as “very practical” with a score of 91%, as were teachers’ responses with a score of 97%. Effectiveness testing showed an N-Gain value of 0.65, which falls into the “medium” category (moderately effective), indicating an improvement in learning outcomes after using the medium. In conclusion, this e-magazine is considered feasible and moderately effective for use as a biology learning medium, not only strengthening conceptual understanding but also instilling spiritual values through the integration of Qur’anic verses. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop flashcards based on a scientific approach to the material of cell structure and function in order to improve student learning outcomes. The background of this research is the low interest of students in participating in learning due to the lack of interactive learning media which has an impact on low student learning outcomes. The research method used is R&D (Research and Development) research with the ADDIE model which has 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The subjects in this study were 22 students of class XI IPA 2 at SMA Swasta Sinar Husni. Flashcards were validated by material experts and media experts and tested for practicality and effectiveness. The results showed that flashcards obtained a percentage of material validity of 84% (very valid) and media validity of 94% (very valid). Flashcards were also declared practical with a percentage of 93% (very practical) from teachers and 84% (very practical) from students. The effectiveness test with an N-Gain score of 0.88 (High) showed that there was a significant increase in student learning outcomes. In conclusion, flashcards based on a scientific approach to cell structure and function material can be declared valid, practical and effective and have the potential to support active learning in biology learning. Abstract

The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) module is a module characterized by problem-oriented learning that provides students with direct experiences, making the learning process student-centered. Critical thinking can be defined as the process and ability to understand concepts, apply, synthesize, and evaluate obtained or generated information. This study aims to investigate the development of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) module to improve students’ critical thinking skills on the topic of the human respiratory system. The research technique used in this study is Research and Development (R&D), employing the 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), which is one of the research and development methods in the field of education. The research sample consisted of 36 students from class XI-A of SMA Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan. The instrument used in this study was a critical thinking skills test in the form of 10 pretest and posttest essay questions, based on critical thinking indicators. The results showed that the development of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) module improved students’ critical thinking skills on the human respiratory system, with an N-Gain score of 0.77, categorized as high (effective). The pretest results were 39.44%, while the posttest results reached 95.55%.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Socio Scientific Inquiry Based Learning (SSIBL)-based e-module on the digestive system topic that is valid, practical, and effective for use in biology learning. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) employing the 4D model, which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research subjects consisted of 30 students from grade XI Science at a private Islamic senior high school (Madrasah Aliyah Swasta) and one biology teacher. The research instruments included validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The results showed that the e-module was highly valid with a percentage of 95.83% (content) and 91.67% (media). Teacher responses reached 98.07%, and student responses reached 93.80%, both categorized as very practical. The effectiveness test obtained a score of 0.71, classified as high, indicating that the e-module was effective in improving students’ learning outcomes. In conclusion, the SSIBL-base e-module is feasible to be used as an alternative digital teaching material for the digestive system topic. This e-module not only facilitates students’ understanding of biology but also enhances their awareness of health issues and their ability to make wise decisions in everyday life.   Keywords: Biology, E-Module, Learning Outcomes, SSIBL, Digestive System.

Abstract

The research that has been carried out is entitled "Development of LKPD Based on Project Based Learning to Improve Students' Critical Thinking Skills in Biotechnology Material for Class problems, understanding assumptions, formulating and selecting relevant hypotheses. There are five indicators in developing critical thinking, namely; formulate the main problem, reveal existing facts, choose logical arguments, detect different points of view and draw conclusions. This research aims to improve students' critical thinking skills at DHARMAWANGSA MEDAN PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL in Biology learning. Research Methodology uses Research and Development. The research population was class XII students at DHARMAWANGSA PRIVATE SMA with a sample size of 32 students. Data collection techniques use LKPD, observation sheets and documentation. Data analysis techniques use the level of validity, level of practicality and level of effectiveness. The research results showed that the Validity Level was 85.5% in the very strong category, the Practicality Level was 71.0% in the practical category and the Effectiveness Level was 56.6% in the quite practical category at DHARMAWANGSA MEDAN PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL. Based on the research above, it can be concluded that the overall level of validity, level of practicality and level of effectiveness of students at DHARMAWANGSA MEDAN PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL in biology learning is in the good category, although there are still skill aspects below the average percentage value. So this indicates that students are able to face challenges in students' critical thinking skills in the Project Based Learning model

Abstract

Pendidik selama ini belum memanfaatkan media pembelajaran secara ideal dalam mengajarnya, hal ini dikarenakan keterbatasan biaya dan waktu dalam pembuatan media pembelajaran sehingga motivasi guru dalam membuat media efektif, efisien, kreatif berkurang. Maka,  mengakibatkan siswa-siswi menjadi tidaktermotivasi dalam belajar dan minat bealajrnya berkurang.Tujuan umum dari pelaksanaan adalah peserta didik dapat memanfaatkan barang bekas sebagai media pembelajaran yang dapat membantu dalam proses pembelajaran serta dapat mengembangkan kreativitas peserta didik, dan juga dapat menanamkan nilai kepedulian terhadap lingkungan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah metode PAR (Participatory Action Research). Terdapat tiga tahapan yang dilakukan dalam kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap evaluasi. Evaluasi dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini diukur dengan menggunakan angket untuk melihat respon siswa terhadap media pembelajaran dari barang bekas yang dilakukan, hasil angket respon siswa kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan skala Likert. Persentase rata-rata hasil angket respon siswa yaitu sebesar 90% yang menunjukkan pelatihan pemanfaatan barang bekas sebagai media pembelajaran biologi pada sistem pernapasan masuk kedalam kategori yang sangat baik. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemanfaatan barang bekas sebagai media pembelajaran Biologi pada materi sistem pernapasan dapat menjadi salah satu tambahan alternative media pembelajaran untuk membantu pemahaman peserta didik, dapat meningkatkan kreativitas siswa, meningkatkan minat siswa, serta dapat mengedukasi mengenai pentingnya daur ulang sampah plastik untuk melestarikan lingkungan.

Abstract

Melimpahnya limbah batang pisang yang dibuang begitu saja tanpa pengolahan lebih lanjut karena minimnya pengetahuan akan manfaat serta tata cara pengolahan batang pisang di Desa Kota Pari, Kecamatan Pantai Cermin, Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai. Padahal, batang pisang mengandung sumber serat, mineral, vitamin, dan karbohidrat yang tinggi. Batang pisang mengandung vitamin yang dapat menjaga sistem metabolisme tubuh dan meningkatkan sistem kekebalan serta dapat menjadi sumber energi. Batang pisang merupakan bagian pisang yang sering dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat. Namun, dengan pengolahan yang tepat, batang pisang dapat dimanfaatkan secara maksimal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian eksperimental. Metode penelitian eksperimental merupakan salah satu metode peelitian dengan cara melakukan beberapa percobaan terhadap objek penelitian. Dalam hal ini objek penelitian yang dipakai adalah batang pisang sebagai bahan baku pembuatan keripik. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilaksanakan di Desa Kota Pari, Kecamatan Pantai Cermin, Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai dengan tujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan bagi masyarakat untuk mengolah batang pisang menjadi bahan pangan bernilai ekonomis dalam bentuk keripik disambut dengan baik oleh masyarakat dan pelatihan yang diberikan bisa dikatakan telah berhasil, namun kegiatan ini belum memberikan pelatihan bagaimana strategi pemasaran produk. Tindak lanjut pelatihan sangat diperlukan agar masyarakat dapat memproduksi keripik batang pisang dalam skala besar.Kata Kunci: Pisang, Limbah, Batang, dan Keripik

Abstract

Jumlah penduduk di Indonesia seiring berjalannya waktu terus mengalami peningkatan, dimana hal tersebut memberikan tantangan besar bagi terwujudnya ketahanan pangan nasional, seiring produktivitas lahan pertanian yang berkurang akibat perubahan iklim serta terjadinya konversi lahan. Penerapan inovasi teknologi budidaya tanaman penting dilakukan untuk membantu peningkatan produksi pangan, salah satunya dengan budidaya tanaman tanpa tanah. Teknologi budidaya tanaman tanpa media tanah dapat dilakukan dengan sistem hidroponik dan sistem aquaponik. Sistem hidroponik yang sering digunakan terdiri beberapa macam yaitu  hidroponik Wick System, hidroponik Nutrient Film Technique (NFT), hidroponik Deep Water Culture (DWC), hidroponik Drip System dan hidroponik Ebb and Flow System (Flood and Drain System). Terdapat dua macam model aquaponik yang sesuai dengan skala rumah tangga yaitu Vertiminaponik dan Wolkaponik. Penelitian ini merupakan literatur review dari berbagai sumber yang membahas mengenai pemanfaatan lahan terbatas untuk sistem budidaya hidroponik dan aquaponik sederhana.
