Abstract

Financing of film projects often requires an elaborate patchwork of investors, banks, soft money tax credits and in-kind services, and some companies specialize in financing specific stages of production. One of the overall themes of the industry that can at times make obtaining financing hard is the risks involved in making films, many of which may have very little tangible value at the end of the process. How an independent filmmaker chooses to make a movie is often dictated by access to money more than any aesthetic sensibilities. Without the proper funding, a feature film never gets made or made the way the filmmaker wants to. Which strategy the filmmaker uses to access funding will depend on the type of film, the story or subject matter, the budget, genre, the filmmaker’s reputation, the talent attached and the amount of creative control the filmmaker wants over the production.

Abstract

Writing screenplays for movies has changed significantly in the digital age due to technological advancements.. This study explores the impact of the use of scriptwriting software such as Final Draft, Celtx, and Scrivener on the creative process and efficiency of writers. The software offers features that make it easier for writers to follow classic narrative structures, increase productivity, and manage manuscripts more effectively. Through interdisciplinary analysis, this study examineshow integrating classical screenwriting theory, such as Aristotle's three-act structure, with modern software can affect the quality and efficiency of writing. The results show that while software like Final Draft and Celtx can improve efficiency and provide robust structural guidance, there is a risk that reliance on templates can limit writers' creativity. Therefore, it is important for writers to balance the use of technology with creative exploration to ensure that the quality and authenticityof the work is maintained. This research provides insight into the benefits and challenges faced by modern screenwriters in the use of technology, as well as its implications for the quality and originality of their work.

Abstract

The study examines the editing techniques used in the film "What's with Love?" (AADC) and how the technique affects the development of emotions, narratives, and character development. The film, released in 2002, became a milestone in the revival of Indonesian cinema post-reform, and had a significant impact on the development of youth films in Indonesia. This study investigates how continuity editing, montage, cross-cutting, and the use of music successfully create a cohesive and emotional narrative through a qualitative approach and visual-narrative analysis. AADC's editing techniques not only structured the storyline, but also deepened the characterization and increased the intensity of the conflict. This study found that the editing techniques in AADC successfully overcame the complicated editing process, especially with the limitations of the technology at the time, by using advanced technology such as AVID Media Composer, as well as accurate editing methods to ensure perfect synchronization between the digital version and the celluloid film.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the benchmark interest rate (BI Rate) and inflation on startup investment in Indonesia. Using secondary data for the period 2015–2025, a linear regression analysis was conducted to test the relationship between variables. The results showed that the BI Rate has a negative relationship with startup investment (regression coefficient -1.051; p = 0.337), but is not statistically significant. Conversely, inflation shows a positive relationship (regression coefficient 1.343; p = 0.276), but is also not significant. These findings indicate that macroeconomic factors such as interest rates and inflation have not become the main determinants in startup investment decisions. Other factors such as government policies, access to funding, and technological innovation are thought to have a more dominant influence.
