Abstract

Various previous studies have responded to the study of the challenges of moral degradation in the digital era. However, the focus of the study has not yet been found in the form of the integrality of Qur'anic verse-based Learning with a locus in Madrasah Tsanawiyah. It is believed that this integrality fosters students' religious attitudes. This study aims to develop a product of integrated science teaching materials of the Qur'anic verses to improve students' religious attitudes in madrasah. This type of research is research and development (R&D), adapting the Borg & Gall model with the ADDIE stages, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, because it is considered relevant to describe the chronology of Learning product development from the beginning. The results of this study found that science teaching materials integrated with al-Qur'an verses are valid and very feasible to use in student science Learning at MTsN Konawe Regency with an average value of 91.98% of the validity test results. Then, science teaching materials integrated with al-Qur'an values have a practicality value to be applied at MTsN Konawe Regency, marked by the average score of 1.64 small groups and 1.79 large groups. Science teaching materials integrated with al-Qur'an values are effectively used in science Learning after being developed in small and large groups with a probability value (r) Sig. = 0.000 <a = 0.05, meaning there is a significant difference in students' spiritual attitudes before and after treatment using science teaching materials integrated with the Qur'an. Thus, it is concluded that the product of science teaching materials integrated with al-Qur'an verses is appropriate for improving students' religious attitudes in madrasah.

Abstract

Despite numerous studies examining active learning strategies in religious education, limited research explores contextual implementation of card sort methodology in Indonesian Islamic primary schools (madrasah), particularly regarding student motivation enhancement. This study investigates the implementation of card sort learning media in Aqidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Ethics) instruction at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 7 Hulu Sungai Selatan, Indonesia. Employing qualitative descriptive methodology, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and documentation analysis following Miles and Huberman's analytical framework. Findings reveal three critical implementation phases: (1) systematic planning utilizing the ASSURE model encompassing learner analysis, objective formulation, method selection, media utilization, learner participation, and evaluation; (2) execution involving preliminary, core, and closing activities designed to foster interactive and engaging learning environments; (3) comprehensive evaluation combining authentic assessment and written examinations. Results demonstrate significant improvements in student learning outcomes, evidenced by enhanced conceptual understanding (78% increase in comprehension scores) and practical application of moral values in daily contexts. This study contributes empirical evidence supporting active learning strategies in Islamic education, offering practical implications for curriculum designers and educators seeking to improve religious instruction quality in Southeast Asian educational contexts while advancing Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).

Abstract

Prior studies on science education in Indonesia have predominantly examined curriculum design, pedagogical strategies, and technology-based interventions; however, few have explored how the integration of local cultural values into Natural and Social Science (IPAS) learning specifically shapes the wellbeing of lower primary students (Grades 1-3) in culturally diverse Indonesian contexts. This study addresses that gap by examining how teachers integrate Javanese and broader Indonesian local cultural elements into IPAS instruction and the consequent effects on students' academic wellbeing and sense of belonging. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with three classroom teachers and one principal, classroom observations, document analysis, and focus group discussions involving ten students from two schools in the Yogyakarta Special Region. Thematic analysis revealed four interconnected themes: (1) cultural embodiment of science concepts through local artefacts and ecological knowledge; (2) enhanced student wellbeing via cultural familiarity; (3) the teacher as cultural mediator; and (4) alignment with SDG 4 targets for inclusive and quality education. Findings indicate that culturally embedded IPAS learning not only reduces science anxiety among early-grade students but also strengthens their identity, curiosity, and holistic development. This study contributes a culturally grounded pedagogical framework for IPAS instruction in Indonesian primary schools, with practical implications for curriculum designers, teacher educators, and policymakers pursuing SDG 4 commitments.
