Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana peranan adat pantang larang dalam penerapan norma-norma yang berlaku di masyarakat pada etnis Minangkabau. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah diskripsi kualitatif dengan teknik observasi dan wawancara. Informan yang dipercaya dalam penelitian ini adalah mereka yang mengetahui ragam dan makna pantang larang, terdiri dari tokoh masyarakat yang menjalani kehidupan di daerah tersebut dan memahami benar mengenai pantang larang yang terdapat di daerah tersebut. Kekurangan data setelah melewati cara yang tersebut di atas akan dilengkapi dengan data perpustakaan. Hasil dari penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa hasil penelitian yang peneliti lakukan tentang peranan adat pantang larang ada beberapa yang menjadi bagian dari norma yang berlaku dimasayarakat setempat yaitu pantang larang dilarang ribut dengan bersaudara saat masa panen, dilarang berbunyi/bacapak saat sedang makan, Pantang wanita hamil mencela ataupun melihat hal-hal yang aneh, pantang mandi malam bujangan, Pantang mengeluh lapar saat dalam hutan. Penerapan norma-norma yang berlaku di masyarakat pada etnis minagkabau di Panti Selatan Kabupaten Pasaman responden menjawab berperan adat pantang larang sangat berperan dalam penerapan nilai agama, adat, moral dan etika di daerah tersebut.

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are a fundamental aspect of mathematics learning; however, in reality, elementary school students’ proficiency in this area remains relatively low due to teaching approaches that are still teacher-centered. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the impact of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach on the mathematical communication skills of elementary school students based on the findings of previous research. The research methodology employed was a literature review, examining 10 scientific articles indexed in SINTA 1–4 and Scopus from 2020 to 2026. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative descriptive methods through a series of stages involving organization, grouping, comparison, and synthesis of findings. The research results indicate that the RME approach consistently yields a significant positive impact on improving students’ mathematical communication skills. This improvement is evident in students’ ability to convey ideas, use mathematical representations, and connect concepts to real-life contexts. However, several variables influence RME performance; students with moderate to high initial cognitive abilities achieve greater improvement. Furthermore, the success of RME heavily depends on collaborative activities and adequate learning media support, such as RME-based e-modules or worksheets. In conclusion, RME is an effective strategy for improving mathematical communication, but its implementation must be tailored to student characteristics and supported by relevant media.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the still-low reading comprehension skills of elementary school students, which hinder the achievement of literacy competencies. The study aims to describe the nature of reading comprehension difficulties, identify their causes, and examine teachers’ efforts to address them among fourth-grade students at SDN 14/I Sungai Baung. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data sources consisting of fourth-grade students and teachers. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis utilized an interactive model comprising data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the students’ main difficulties include understanding main ideas, the meaning of vocabulary, and drawing conclusions from texts. The contributing factors stem from both internal student factors and external learning factors. Teachers’ efforts were implemented through the use of contextual learning strategies and the provision of intensive reading practice. The findings also reveal that conventional teaching methods, limited learning media, and insufficient parental support at home are external factors that further exacerbate students' reading comprehension difficulties. These findings have important implications for the development of more effective reading learning strategies in elementary schools.
