Abstract

Indonesian Jewish communities rarely appear in academic or scientific research. Some existing articles are about Jewish community in other countries or other minorities in Indonesia. This article is aimed to answer the question: “How is the identity and the sense of belonging of Indonesian Jewish Community, to Indonesia or to Israel? In this research, qualitative method is used to examine the issue. The approaches for this research are the concept of identity by Patricia Goff and Kevin Dunn and the Asabiyyah concept by Ibn Khaldun. The finding of this research is the fact that Indonesian Jewish community have a strong relationship and sense of belonging to Indonesia and identify themselves more as an Indonesian. Indonesian Jewish community had contributed to Indonesia’s nation building in the past during the participation of war of independence. And furthermore, with more understanding on the community, the community can take part in building the Indonesian nation in the future.

Abstract

Zionism is a form of Jewish nationalism that is related with the Jewish identity and the spirit of nationalism between Jews. The concept of identity by Patricia Goff and Kevin Dunn, along with the main theory of ashabiyyah from Ibn Khaldun, are used in this research to analyze and ezplain Zionism as an identity uniting factor among European Jews. Zionist ideology started from the sense of same experience amongst European Jews who started to look for their identity in the middle of anti-Semitism in Europe. Moreover, this ideology become the uniting factor amongst Jews to have their own state and their own land. The wars and conflicts that was happened along the way of the establishment of Israel until it had been established strengthened the Jewish identity that was initiated by Zionists in Israel. And this research found out that Zionism will not disappear in immediate future.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran generasi muda sebagai bagian dari warga negara (Global Youth Citizenship) dalam pelaksanaan Global Citizenship Education (GCE) yang kritis di tengah tantangan globalisasi dan isu-isu hubungan internasional yang semakin berkembang. Dalam pelaksanaannya, terdapat tiga pilar yang menjadi fokus utama dari pelaksanaan kegiatan ini, yaitu edukasi anti-kekerasan dan gender, gaya hidup berkelanjutan, serta peran generasi muda dalam masyarakat sipil dan demokrasi. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di lima sekolah di Kabupaten Sleman, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, melalui empat tahapan: identifikasi kebutuhan, koordinasi dan persiapan dengan sekolah mitra, pelaksanaan edukatif-partisipatif, serta evaluasi. Metode pelaksanaan memadukan penyampaian materi interaktif dengan Focus Group Discussion, studi kasus, mind mapping, presentasi kelompok, dan kuis interaktif. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui prates dan paskates, observasi partisipasi, serta umpan balik peserta. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan pemahaman pada sebagian besar kegiatan, termasuk perluasan pemahaman mengenai bentuk kekerasan berbasis gender serta peningkatan skor pada kegiatan gaya hidup berkelanjutan dan masyarakat sipil-demokrasi.
