Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of a social media campaign in promoting healthy lifestyles among adolescents. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method to measure the effectiveness, attitudes, and behaviours of social media campaigns in influencing healthy lifestyle awareness and attitudes among adolescents aged 15-19 years old. The sample will be taken using a purposive sampling technique involving 300 respondents who fulfil the criteria, namely adolescents who follow healthy lifestyle campaigns on social media. Data were processed to describe the profile of the respondents, their level of exposure to the campaign, and their general views on health behaviours. Bivariate analysis showed a significant association between health literacy and healthy behaviours (p = 0.002). Audio-visual media had the highest effectiveness rate (85%), followed by leaflets (65%). Audio visual media was found to be more effective in delivering campaign messages than leaflets, with an effectiveness rate of 85% compared to 40%. The results showed that health promotion through social media has great potential to encourage adolescents to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a digital community-based mental health intervention for adolescents. The Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21) was utilised as a measure of depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms to ascertain the efficacy of the intervention. The experimental group participated in a group-based digital community intervention, while the control group received standardised services in the form of printed materials without group sessions. The data were analysed both descriptively and inferentially in order to establish the difference in scores before and after the intervention, as well as to compare the effectiveness between the experimental and control groups. The findings of this study suggest that the intervention has a substantial impact on the reduction of adolescent psychological symptoms (p = 0.001), in contrast to the negligible decrease observed in the control group (p = 0.083). This study contributes to the extant body of knowledge by highlighting the significance of incorporating technology, group interaction, and professional facilitation in fostering a supportive atmosphere that affects mental health, thereby going beyond the mere validation of earlier findings. This finding underscores the relevance of social support theory and cognitive-behavioral theory in the digital era, demonstrating the efficacy of online communities as a versatile platform for psychosocial interventions tailored to the needs of contemporary adolescents.

Abstract

Adolescent mental health issues are becoming more and more of a global concern.  However, the stigma associated with mental illness continues to be a significant obstacle to getting psychological assistance, particularly for young people. Purpose: This study aims to explore the relationship between the level of stigma against mental illness with the tendency of adolescents to seek professional help. Methods: The research method used is descriptive quantitative survey approach. The sample consisted of 75 adolescents aged 15-18 years who were selected purposively. The instrument used was a questionnaire consisting of two scales: the scale of stigma against mental illness and the scale of seeking psychological help. Results: The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between the level of stigma with the tendency to seek help (r = -0.56, p < 0.01), which means that the higher the level of stigma, the lower the tendency of adolescents to seek professional help. In addition, adolescent girls tend to have less stigma and are more open to seeking help than adolescent boys. Implications: The implications of these findings suggest the importance of mental health education interventions in schools to reduce stigma and improve mental health literacy. The involvement of teachers, counselors, and parents is key in creating an environment that supports teens to speak up and seek help without fear of being judged. Conclusion: In conclusion, stigma around mental illness is a major factor in preventing teenagers from seeking treatment, and lowering stigma is a calculated move to increase access to mental health care.

Abstract

Domestic violence (DV) in Indonesia is rising, with over 400,000 cases reported in 2022, driven by increased public awareness post the Domestic Violence Elimination Act, yet communities often limit it to physical abuse, ignoring psychological and reproductive health effects. This study explores lived experiences of DV among women in Solok City and its impacts on their psychological and reproductive health. A qualitative phenomenological approach involved eight women recruited via snowball sampling, with data from 45–60-minute in-depth interviews and documentation, ensuring trustworthiness through prolonged engagement and triangulation. All participants (100%) faced multiple violence forms: six physical, seven psychological, and five forced sexual activity. Psychological effects included chronic stress (7/8), sleep disturbances (5/8), shame (6/8), and depressive symptoms (5/8). Reproductive issues affected five with menstrual irregularities, four with recurrent vaginal infections/discharge, and three with reduced libido, linked to prolonged violence, financial stress, and overwork causing hormonal disruptions. DV profoundly impairs women's psychological and reproductive health in Solok City, underscoring needs for heightened community education, expanded support services, accessible reporting, and empowering women to reject violence and seek help.
