Abstract

COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS Cov-2 virus. Covid-19 caused a pandemic that has been going on since 2020. Since the pandemic, many people have been confirmed, and many have recovered who are said to be survivors of COVID-19. COVID-19 survivors can still experience symptoms such as brain fog. Students as survivors of COVID-19 who do learning can feel stress; the stress they get is called academic stress. This research was conducted to find a relationship between academic stress and brain fog in students who survived COVID-19. This study used a cross-sectional design involving 125 student survivors of COVID-19. Data analysis showed that 49 students (39.2%) did not experience brain fog, while 76 students (60.8%) were suspected of experiencing brain fog. Spearman's rank correlation test also showed a correlation between academic stress levels and brain fog (p value = 0.000) in students who survived COVID-19 with an r value of 0.409. The incidence of brain fog in COVID-19 survivors is deemed  to be influenced by academic stress. There needs to be good stress management for students who are survivors of COVID-19 to maintain their thinking skills.

Abstract

Intradialytic cycling is a form of aerobic exercise performed during hemodialysis sessions. Several studies have investigated its impact on both physical and psychological functional status, utilizing various parameters such as frequency, duration, exercise intensity, and with differing outcomes. The aim of this systematic review is to examine the effects of intradialytic cycling on physical and psychological functional status in patients undergoing hemodialysis. This systematic review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. Literature was sourced from databases including Scopus, ProQuest, SAGE Journals, SpringerLink, Taylor & Francis, and Cochrane, using keywords based on the PICO framework and combined with Boolean operators “AND” and “OR.” Inclusion criteria for the articles were: publication between 2010 and 2025, studies involving hemodialysis patients aged ≥18 years, research designs including randomized controlled trials (RCTs), quasi-experimental studies, and cohort studies, and publications in English. A total of 10 articles were included in the analysis. Intradialytic cycling demonstrated enhancing physical function and reducing depressive symptoms in hemodialysis patients. This non-pharmacological intervention proved to be effective both as a standalone therapy and in combination with other modalities, such as resistance training, music therapy, and cognitive approaches. Abstract

Sleep disturbances are highly prevalent among patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), occurring both in the pre-dialysis stage and among individuals undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis. These disturbances can significantly impair overall quality of life. Various factors contribute to sleep disorders in CKD patients, including the accumulation of uremic toxins, pain, pruritus, dyspnea, anxiety, and the side effects associated with dialysis therapy itself. Physical activity-based interventions, such as aerobic exercise and yoga, have shown substantial potential in improving sleep quality. The objective of this systematic review is to evaluate the effects of yoga and aerobic exercise interventions on sleep quality in patients with CKD. A comprehensive literature search was conducted using databases including ProQuest, PubMed, Scopus, the International Journal of Health Sciences and Research, Springer, and the Iranian Journal of Nursing and Midwifery Research. Only full-text articles published in English between 2019 and 2024 were included. The review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines. Thirteen studies were identified: 11 Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs), 1 quasi-experimental study, and 1 qualitative study. Analysis of the 11 RCTs revealed that various interventions—particularly yoga, aerobic exercise, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) were employed to improve sleep quality. Among these, yoga and aerobic exercise were found to significantly enhance sleep quality in CKD patients, especially those undergoing hemodialysis, with aerobic exercise demonstrating more consistent benefits. Conversely, CBT did not produce significant improvements in sleep quality compared to the control group, though it did show limited effects on reducing depressive symptoms and dysfunctional beliefs. The quasi-experimental study examined the impact of yoga exercise and found it to be a contributing factor to improved quality of life, including better sleep. The qualitative study employed a phenomenological approach to explore the subjective experiences of CKD patients with fatigue caused by poor sleep, aligning with the study's aim of understanding this phenomenon from the patient’s perspective.

Abstract

Chemoport is an implanted device, placed in the central venous system especially for infusion of chemotherapy drugs in oncological diseases that can reduce vascular inflammation during chemotherapy because this device is implanted under the skin, making IV (intravenous) drug administration easier and reducing pain. Nurses as officers must be able to provide more specific care and therapy based on patient needs, and must understand the lives of cancer patients and their families. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of nursing interventions and nurse competence in the use of chemoport in cancer patients.  The research method used a systematic review with article searches on five trusted journal databases, such as EBSCOhost, ClinicalKey Nursing, Sage Journal and Science direct. Article analysis using the PRISMA method. The results showed that there were ten articles that fit the criteria for articles related to nursing interventions and nurse competence in the use of chemoport in cancer patients. All articles used quantitative research methods with a randomized control trial design. The conclusion is that nursing interventions and nurse competence in the use of chemoport in cancer patients, among others, are divided into nursing interventions to reduce pain, namely virtual reality interventions, giving Valsalva maneuvers, skin stimulation, and giving local anesthesia. While nursing interventions to reduce anxiety include virtual relity interventions, visual blocking information interventions and patient education and nurse competence through increasing nurse knowledge and providing training.

Abstract

The factors associated with the incidence of young-onset colorectal cancer (YO-CRC) remain uncertain and are continuously being studied. The aim of this study was to investigate the factors associated with the incidence of young-onset colorectal cancer. This cross-sectional study examined multiple factors (demographic status, medical comorbidities, smoking, alcohol intake, nighttime sleep duration, family history of cancer, sedentary behavior, daily consumption of fried foods, fast food, and processed meat) among 171 patients from two cancer referral hospitals in Jakarta, Indonesia. Logistic regression analysis revealed that the low-income group had a higher risk of YO-CRC compared to high-income group (p=0.004). Those with comorbid diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, or high cholesterol were more likely to develop YO-CRC compared to those without these conditions (p=0.002). Frequent consumption of processed meat (vs seldom) (p=0.003) and fried food (vs no consumption) (p=0.001) were associated with higher risk. Those with high sedentary behavior (vs low) (p=0.021) also had higher risk of YO-CRC. Notably, nighttime sleep emerged as the strongest predictor (odds ratio (OR): 10.462). These findings underscore the need for targeted public health interventions promoting adequate sleep, healthy diets, and active lifestyles, particularly among Indonesian youth and low-income groups. Further studies are recommended to investigate these associations in larger and more diverse populations across Indonesia.
