Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the three basic principles of leadership: integrity, Authenticity, and commitment to something greater than oneself as foundational elements of effective leadership within the context of Islamic education. These principles are not only moral guidelines but also ethical and existential frameworks that shape a leader’s character and behavior. This research employs a qualitative research design with an interpretive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with Islamic education leaders (kiai, school principals, and senior teachers), participant observation in selected Islamic educational institutions, and document analysis of leadership texts and institutional policy documents. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns and meanings embedded in leadership practices within Islamic educational settings. The findings reveal that integrity serves as the core pillar that establishes public trust in leaders. Authenticity plays a crucial role in sustaining moral consistency and personal honesty. At the same time, a commitment to a purpose beyond oneself motivates leaders to act in the collective good rather than their own self-interest. In the context of Islamic education, these principles align strongly with the values of amanah, siddiq, and khidmah, which characterize the leadership exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad SAW. This study concludes that the three principles are not only compatible with modern leadership theories but are also universal and highly relevant to the development of Islamic educational leadership. The study implies the need to develop leadership training programs in Islamic education that emphasize character formation and leadership ethics based on these three core principles.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability is an essential aspect of early childhood cognitive development, as it shapes logical, critical, and creative thinking from an early age. However, many early childhood learning practices still focus on rote activities that do not sufficiently stimulate higher-order thinking skills. This study aims to analyze the effect of digital learning media on improving problem-solving abilities among early childhood students. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest model involving 32 children in group B at an early childhood education institution in Situbondo. Data were collected through observation sheets assessing children’s problem-solving abilities and analyzed using simple linear regression. The results indicate a positive and significant influence between the use of digital media and children’s problem-solving ability (r = 0.61; p < 0.05) with the regression equation Y = 14.86 + 0.40X. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.37 shows that 37% of the variation in problem-solving ability is explained by the use of digital media. These findings confirm that digital media is effective as an interactive and engaging learning tool that enhances critical thinking and problem-solving skills in early childhood education.

Abstract

Purpose – Despite national efforts to advance religious moderation, schools still lack digital IRE (Islamic Religious Education) materials, while adolescents increasingly encounter unregulated online content. This makes moderation-focused resources urgently needed. This study aims to develop and assess the IRE e-module’s effectiveness in improving students’ understanding of religious moderation. Design/methods/approach – The study employed a Research and Development design using the 4D model, including define, design, develop and dissemination. The research subjects consisted of 84 junior high school students across three schools in Situbondo. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, questionnaires, and tests. Findings – Validation results from 3 experts show that the e-module has met the eligibility standards with a minimum score of 80%. The effectiveness test showed a significant increase in student understanding after using the e-module with Sig. [2 Tailed] = 0,000 and an average N-Gain of 0,6693.  An integrated E modul on religiuos moderation to Address Rising Radicalism in Schools: Implications for Students’ Understanding” Research implications/limitations – The practical implications of this research provide a strategic contribution to developing relevant contextual teaching materials to prevent the spread of radicalism in secondary education. However, this study has limitations regarding the level and number of schools studied. Originality/value – The study advances IRE digital material by demonstrating multimedia tools that foster moderation, provides a replicable resource for IRE teachers, and informs efforts to strengthen learning and counter extremist narratives.
