Abstract

Emotional intelligence (EI) plays a crucial role in students' academic performance, particularly in mathematical problem-solving ability (MPSA). This study investigates the level of EI, the level of MPSA, and their relationship in fifth-grade students of Gugus V, Kepanjen District, during the 2021/2022 academic year. This quantitative, correlational study involved 183 fifth-grade students, with a purposive sample of 80 participants. Data collection employed tests to measure MPSA and questionnaires to assess EI. Statistical analysis was conducted using Pearson’s product-moment correlation with SPSS 16.0. The results showed that first, the level of emotional intelligence of grade V elementary school students was mostly in the moderate category, with a percentage of 62.5%. Second, the level of mathematics problem-solving ability of fifth-grade students is mostly in the high category with a percentage of 52.5%. Third, the results of statistical data processing analysis obtained rxy value r table value (0.386 0.286). While the significance value of the analysis results of SPSS 16.0 significance level value of 0.01 (0.000 0.01). These results suggest that higher EI is associated with improved MPSA among fifth-grade students. This underscores the importance of fostering both cognitive and emotional competencies in educational settings. There is a significant positive relationship between EI and MPSA in fifth-grade students. Enhancing EI alongside academic skills may support student success not only in mathematics but across other disciplines and real-life challenges.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve elementary school students' understanding of smartphone ethics through an interactive and participatory approach. The program was implemented at SDN 2 Palaan, Ngajum District, Malang Regency, as part of the PPL program at Raden Rahmat Islamic University, Malang. The results showed an increase in students' understanding in three main aspects: ethics towards themselves, others, and the environment. Through the sharing method, students not only gained knowledge but also demonstrated positive behavioral changes in using technology wisely and responsibly.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya penguatan karakter peduli lingkungan dan kerja sama pada peserta didik sekolah dasar melalui kegiatan yang memberikan pengalaman langsung. Permasalahan yang ditemukan menunjukkan bahwa masih diperlukan pembiasaan kepada siswa dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan, merawat tanaman, serta meningkatkan kemampuan bekerja sama dalam kegiatan kelompok. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk menanamkan nilai peduli lingkungan dan kerja sama siswa melalui kegiatan penjelajahan Pramuka berwawasan penghijauan di SDN Sumber Jaya. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan iniadalah pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif melalui observasi kegiatan, dokumentasi, catatan lapangan, serta evaluasi pelaksanaan program. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui beberapa tahapan, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan kegiatan penjelajahan, aksi pengumpulan sampah, kegiatan penghijauan berupa penanaman pohon, serta refleksi dan evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa siswa terlibat aktif dalam setiap rangkaiankegiatan, mampu bekerja sama dalam kelompok, membagi tugas, membantu teman, serta bertanggung jawab terhadap peran yang diberikan. Kegiatan pengumpulan sampah dan penanaman pohon memberikan pengalaman nyata kepada siswa mengenai pentingnya menjaga lingkungan dan membangun kepedulian terhadap alam. Selainitu, kegiatan Pramuka berwawasan penghijauan juga mampu menciptakan pembelajaran yang menyenangkan, kontekstual, dan mendukung pembentukan karakter siswa. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa penjelajahan Pramukaberwawasan penghijauan dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif program sekolah dalam meningkatkan karakter peduli lingkungan dan kemampuan kerja sama siswa secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This Community Service Program (PKM) was carried out in response to the increasing vulnerability of adolescents to risky behaviors associated with free association, which is often triggered by limited parental supervision and a lack of understanding about its consequences. The program aimed to enhance adolescents’ awareness of the dangers of free association while providing them with positive alternative activities that support healthier behavioral development. The implementation methods included educational dialogues, interactive discussions, field observations, and a practical session on creating keychains from recycled bottle caps. Throughout the program, participants demonstrated noticeable improvements, reflected in their growing confidence to ask questions, engage in discussions, and share personal experiences. In addition to gaining new insights into the impacts of risky social interactions, the adolescents were able to develop creativity through the craft-making activity, which offered them productive options for spending their free time. Overall, this PKM activity contributed positively to strengthening awareness, preventive attitudes, and responsible social behavior among adolescents, fostering a healthier and more mindful approach to peer interactions.

Abstract

At SDN 02 Kademangan, teaching and learning activities still introduce very little Lolak culture and traditions to students. Learning at school focuses more on academic aspects and does not provide sufficient space for the introduction and understanding of local cultural values. This activity not only aims to introduce and preserve local culture, but also to improve students' overall literacy skills. Apart from that, this program is also expected to encourage active participation by the community and parents in cultural education, as well as forming students' characters who love and appreciate their culture more. Implementation methods include planning and preparation, organizing and decorating the event, evaluating the work, closing and documenting. With this activity, students' reading interest in local culture-based material has increased. In addition to increasing cultural literacy, students' general literacy skills, such as reading, writing and speaking, also experience development. In the reading corner, students read folk tales and other materials, which not only enriches their knowledge but also improves their reading ability.

Abstract

Rejoyoso Village has the potential to utilize organic waste from leftover household activities. However, the people of Rejoyoso Village are less motivated to develop skills regarding organic waste processing. This is because people have no interest in or understanding of waste management. The aim of the KKN-T 16 UNIRA Rejoyoso Village activity program in 2024 is to utilize household organic waste effectively and innovatively and improve residents' skills in waste management. This KKN-T activity was carried out for 40 days with 16 participants in Rejoyoso Village, Bantur District. The activity stages are observation and identification of potential problems, processing observation data, program planning, implementation, which includes Focus Group Discussion (FGD), carrying out location permits, preparing tools and materials, carrying out socialization, and training on organic waste management through maggot cultivation. The final stage is monitoring and evaluating the results of the activities. The conclusion of this activity is that by empowering the community, people can broaden their knowledge and develop their skills through cultivating maggots in Rejoyoso Village, Bantur District, as an alternative use of organic waste.

Abstract

Bullying in elementary schools is a serious issue that negatively impacts children’s physical, psychological, social, and academic development. This community service program aims to provide anti-bullying socialization to students of SDN Jambesari 01 to increase their understanding of the forms, impacts, and prevention strategies of bullying. The program applied a participatory approach through counseling, interactive discussions, and case simulations. The results showed an increase in students’ knowledge of bullying types, greater empathy for victims, and a collective commitment to creating a safe and comfortable learning environment. Challenges such as students’ limited initial understanding and low parental attention were addressed through communicative strategies and collaboration with teachers. Thus, anti-bullying socialization is effective as a preventive step in reducing violence in elementary schools.
