Abstract

Leukorrhea (vaginal discharge) is a reproductive health problem that is often experienced by adolescent girls. The incidence of leukorrhea can be influenced by vaginal hygiene behavior and stress levels. Improper vaginal hygiene behavior and stress can lead to imbalances in the normal flora of the vagina and hormonal changes that trigger the occurrence of leukorrhea. This study analyzes the relationship between vaginal hygiene behavior and stress levels with the incidence of leukorrhea in adolescent girls at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Gorontalo City. It was conducted with a cross-sectional observational analytical design of 275 respondents selected through proportionate stratified random sampling from a population of 884 adolescent girls. Primary data were collected via validated questionnaires (Cronbach's alpha >0.6 for vaginal hygiene and leukorrhea, DASS-42 for stress), analyzed univariate (frequency) and bivariate (Spearman rank test, ?=0.05). The results showed that the majority of respondents were 16 years old (37.8%), class X (35.6%), adequate vaginal hygiene behavior (76.4%), moderate stress (62.5%), and normal leukorrhea (76%). There was a significant relationship: vaginal hygiene behavior with leukorrhea (r=-0.155, p=0.010, weak negative), and stress level with leukorrhea (r=0.517, p=0.000, moderate positive). Conclusion: Good hygiene behaviors lower the risk of leukorrhea, while high stress increases it; Reproductive Health Education Advice in Schools for Prevention

Abstract

Background: Maternal self-confidence is one of the key determinants of successful exclusive breastfeeding. One of the factors that may influence maternal confidence is the emotional support provided by husbands during the breastfeeding period. Emotional support, including attention, empathy, affection, and encouragement, can improve mothers' psychological well-being and strengthen their confidence in exclusively breastfeeding their infants. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between husbands' emotional support and maternal self-confidence in exclusive breastfeeding at the Kota Tengah Community Health Center. Methods: This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 103 breastfeeding mothers, with 82 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring husbands' emotional support and maternal self-confidence in exclusive breastfeeding. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Product-Moment correlation with a significance level of 0.05. Results: Most respondents reported receiving high emotional support from their husbands (97.6%) and demonstrated high self-confidence in exclusive breastfeeding (76.8%). Bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between husbands' emotional support and maternal self-confidence in exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.018; r = 0.262). The correlation coefficient indicated a weak but positive relationship. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between husbands' emotional support and maternal self-confidence in exclusive breastfeeding. Greater emotional support from husbands is associated with higher maternal confidence in breastfeeding. Therefore, increasing husbands' involvement through emotional support is essential to improve the success of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia due to impaired insulin work. DM not only has an impact on physical health but also psychologically, one of which is anxiety. Untreated anxiety can worsen a patient's quality of life and medication adherence. One of the interventions to overcome this is Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) using booklet media. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of DSME booklet educational media on reducing anxiety levels in DM patients in the working area of the South City Health Center. This quantitative research uses a pre-experimental design with a One Group Pretest–Posttest Design approach. The sample amounted to 49 respondents who were selected using accidental sampling techniques. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. The instrument in this study used the HARS questionnaire. The results showed that before being educated, the majority of respondents experienced moderate (47%) and severe (35%) anxiety. After being given the intervention through a booklet, anxiety levels decreased to mild (47%) and non-anxiety (18%). The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a p-value (0.000) < 0.05, which means that DSME booklet education had a significant effect on reducing anxiety of DM patients in the work area of the South City Health Center because it provided clear, structured, and practical information.

Abstract

Adolescent nutritional status is an important indicator of health influenced by physical and psychosocial factors. In adolescence, academic stress and changes in eating behavior often contribute to the emergence of nutritional problems, both undernutrition and overnutrition. This condition is suspected to be related to stress levels and emotional eating behavior tendencies. This study aims to determine the relationship between stress levels and emotional eating behaviors with adolescent nutritional status at SMA Negeri 7 Gorontalo City. This study used a quantitative design with a cross sectional approach. The research sample amounted to 163 adolescents who were selected based on criteria, namely adolescents with a minimum level of stress in the mild category, not undergoing a diet program, and not having chronic diseases. Sample selection was taken using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. This research instrument uses the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) questionnaire and the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ). Bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between stress levels and nutritional status of adolescents (p-Value = 0.000). Meanwhile, there was a significant relationship between emotional eating behavior and adolescent nutritional status (p-Value = 0.000). It is hoped that it can be an information and evaluation material for adolescents, schools, and related parties in understanding the relationship between stress levels, emotional eating behaviors, and adolescent nutritional status. These findings can also serve as a basis for consideration in promotive and preventive efforts that focus on adolescent mental health and eating behavior in the school environment.
