Abstract

The increasing volume of waste in Indonesia poses environmental challenges, especially incinerator ash residues that contain heavy metals and have the potential to contaminate soil. This study aimed to evaluate the utilization of incinerator ash combined with deer dung as an alternative growing medium for ornamental betel nut (Epipremnum aureum). Four treatments of growing media composition were tested: pure soil, ash and dung mixture in different ratios, and observed for eight weeks on the parameters of plant length, leaf area, and plant weight. Results showed that the treatment without ash mixture produced the best growth, while increasing the proportion of ash decreased plant growth performance. This is thought to be due to the heavy metal content in the ash which inhibits plant metabolism and nutrient uptake. Although the plants survived in all treatments, the effectiveness of the ash and deer manure mixture as a growing medium proved to be limited, so its use should be limited and not recommended for consumption crops. The potential utilization of ash is more appropriately directed towards non-agricultural sectors that do not come into direct contact with living things.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of a Smart City based on sustainable technology in the province of DKI Jakarta, focusing on three main pillars: Smart Environment, Smart Economy, and Smart People. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The results show that the implementation of the Smart Environment pillar is realized through innovations such as the Internet of Things (IoT)-based environmental quality monitoring system, the Flood Monitoring Dashboard, and the Jakarta Environmental Monitoring System (JEMS). In the Smart Economy pillar, the transformation toward a digital economy and a less-cash society has encouraged inclusive economic growth through programs such as Future City Hub and Open Data Jakarta. Meanwhile, the Smart People pillar emphasizes improving digital literacy and public participation through programs such as JSC Goes to School and Kelas Warga. The main supporting factors for Smart City implementation include consistent government regulations and strong digital infrastructure. However, challenges such as unequal digital literacy and uneven public participation remain as obstacles. Overall, this study emphasizes that the success of Smart City implementation in Jakarta depends on the synergy between the government, society, and technology that is oriented toward sustainability. Abstract

Sidoarjo Regency, known as the "City of SMEs" due to its various superior regional products supporting the One Village One Product (OVOP) program, has led to increasingly fierce competition, thus demanding product differentiation, one of which is through a Green Marketing approach. The partner in this community service is the Nabila Art Gallery SME, an aromatherapy lamp manufacturer that still faces obstacles in the form of low competitiveness due to a lack of understanding of environmentally friendly promotions, product differentiation, and the use of sustainable packaging. The objective of the activity is to increase the competitiveness of partners through the implementation of Green Marketing strategies that include Green Products, Green Advertising, and Green Brands. The implementation methods include socialization, training, implementation assistance, and achievement evaluation using surveys with 15 participants. The results show that SMEs experienced a 45% increase in understanding of the Green Marketing concept, a 38% increase in branding ability, and an average increase in sales of 22%. The application of eco-friendly labels, consumer education, and differentiation based on local uniqueness have proven relevant to boosting the position of OVOP products in Sidoarjo.

Abstract

Usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah (UMKM) Nasya Cake and Cookies di Kota Surabaya menghadapi kendala keterbatasan kapasitas produksi akibat penggunaan satu unit oven berukuran kecil, sehingga menghambat pemenuhan permintaan konsumen yang terus meningkat. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan merancang dan menerapkan teknologi tepat guna berupa oven kue berpemanas sirip (finned heating) berbahan bakar gas bernama Oven FINICK (Finned & Quick) untuk meningkatkan produktivitas produksi mitra. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi identifikasi masalah, analisis SWOT, penggalian voice of customer melalui kuesioner, penerapan Quality Function Deployment (QFD) dan House of Quality (HOQ), analisis antropometri untuk aspek ergonomi, perancangan dan fabrikasi alat, serta pengujian kinerja menggunakan metode Objective Matrix (OMAX). Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa Oven FINICK mampu menampung kapasitas hingga 20 kg per proses pemanggangan, dengan suhu stabil pada kisaran 90°C, waktu pemanggangan rata-rata 25 menit, dan tingkat kecacatan produk hanya 3%. Pengujian bersama mitra menunjukkan peningkatan kepuasan pengguna dari cukup puas menjadi sangat puas dibandingkan oven sebelumnya. Analisis finansial menunjukkan investasi awal sebesar Rp2.690.000 dapat kembali dalam waktu sekitar 23 bulan. Kegiatan ini terbukti mampu meningkatkan efisiensi energi, stabilitas suhu, dan kapasitas produksi UMKM mitra secara signifikan.
