Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the role of tahfidz teachers in enhancing the discipline of Al-Qur’an memorization among students at MTs Negeri 5 Demak. The study emphasizes that tahfidz teachers play multifaceted roles as instructors, motivators, mentors, evaluators, and facilitators who adapt instructional methods to students’ characteristics. Structured learning strategies—including the preparation of regular schedules, the use of varied methods, the implementation of periodic evaluations and continuous monitoring, as well as the provision of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation—serve as key supporting factors in building students’ consistency and commitment in memorizing the Al-Qur’an. The support of the madrasah environment and parents’ involvement further reinforces memorization discipline through the strengthening of a religious culture and layered supervision at school and at home. The findings show that the synergistic interaction among teacher roles, learning strategies, student motivation, and environmental support generates sustainable and high-quality memorization discipline. These results provide theoretical and practical foundations for the development of tahfidz programs in formal madrasah, particularly in designing comprehensive memorization guidance models oriented toward the formation of long-term religious commitment.

Abstract

Human beings are inherently perfect, dynamic, and possess the potential to change and develop. In the field of education, three classical developmental theories serve as foundational frameworks for understanding the origins and growth of human nature. First, Nativism, proposed by Arthur Schopenhauer, argues that human traits are innate and inherited from one’s parents. Second, Empiricism, advanced by John Locke, asserts that individuals develop entirely through experience and environmental influence, rather than heredity. Third, the Convergence theory, formulated by William Stern, combines both perspectives by emphasizing the interaction between hereditary and environmental factors. In the context of educational and scientific advancement, the convergence approach has become increasingly relevant for understanding the complexity of human development. Nevertheless, debates persist regarding which educational elements exert the most influence. This article aims to describe the concept of fitrah from an Islamic perspective as a fundamental distinction from Western views. According to Islam, every human is born with fitrah, a natural inclination toward tawhid, honesty, and goodness, and possesses innate potential that must be guided and nurtured through education. The implication of this concept is that Islamic education must be capable of preserving, managing, and developing human fitrah in alignment with the message of Islam and the divine purpose of humanity as servants and stewards (khalifah) on earth.

Abstract

Worldview is generally understood as a philosophy or life principle held by individuals, nations, cultures, or civilizations. When related to culture, the meaning of worldview adjusts to the characteristics of that culture, ultimately shaping one’s perception of existence and reality. Dominant factors in the formation of a worldview may stem from philosophy, religion, belief systems, or specific social value structures. Differences in these factors generate a spectrum of perspectives, ranging from those focused solely on worldly aspects to those encompassing metaphysical dimensions. As a framework, worldview comprises fundamental aspects that serve as benchmarks for interpreting life. In this regard, Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas identifies nine core components of the Islamic worldview: God, revelation (al-Qur’an), creation (the universe), the human soul, knowledge, religion, freedom, values and virtues, and happiness. Islam as a worldview offers a complete, eternal, and transcendent value system that, when adopted as a life guide, directs individuals toward true happiness in both this world and the hereafter. This paper aims to examine how Islam as a worldview shapes human attitudes and life orientations. The study employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach based on various relevant sources. The findings indicate that the Islamic worldview can serve as a comprehensive life framework for navigating the complexities of modern life.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of philosophy in shaping the morals and ethics of students at MTs Negeri 5 Demak. Within the context of Islamic education, philosophy plays a fundamental role in establishing a moral and ethical foundation that supports the development of well-guided personal character. A qualitative approach was used to explore the application of philosophical thought in classroom instruction and its impact on students’ character development. The study focuses on linking philosophical teachings with the educational practices implemented by teachers in cultivating students’ moral and ethical behavior. The findings reveal that the teaching of philosophy at MTs Negeri 5 Demak goes beyond textual theoretical understanding and is oriented toward the internalization of philosophical values in everyday life. Teachers serve as facilitators, guiding students to understand and practice ethical and moral principles from Islamic philosophy, such as wisdom, justice, and responsibility. Thus, philosophy functions as a crucial instrument in character formation, enabling students to become not only academically capable but also morally upright in both social and spiritual life. This study is expected to contribute to strengthening the integration of philosophy in Islamic education to shape an ethical and character-driven younger generation.
