Abstract

Fire accident onboard RoRo (Roll on/Roll off) passenger ferry notoriously indicates intense symptoms of human, technical and organisational issues. In some cases, the more complex the fire's origin, the more challenging the crew would handle handling, suppressing, and putting out the fire. The crew response plays a significant role in the success of firefighting onboard. The research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of fire drill performance by developing an evaluation model based on the cognitive model and analytical network process. The model was developed to overview crew performance and consistency in conducting fire drills on board the roro passenger ship. The questionnaire is developed to obtain crew perspective and awareness of fire risks. The analytical network process (ANP) model is utilised to identify crew preference during fire drills. The result of decision-based research identified significant issues that occurred in every step of cognition. Competency and proficiency of the crew, along with continuous training and familiarisation, were the main issues in improving effectiveness in firefighting. The results of the analysis were resourceful evidence to enhance audit and supervision for the emergency preparedness system. In addition, it is also a reference for developing further training models to improve crew overall performance in firefighting.

Abstract

The operational readiness of warships is closely linked to the reliability and performance of their propulsion systems, whereas aging naval platforms commonly experience degradation that reduces operational effectiveness and increases maintenance requirements. This study aims to formulate a propulsion system modernization strategy through a repowering program for KRI X. A descriptive qualitative design was applied using primary data from in-depth interviews with seven purposively selected informants and observations, supported by secondary data from document analysis. Interview data were coded and analyzed using NVivo 12 Plus, while internal and external factors were evaluated through SWOT analysis. The results show significant degradation in the main engine, gas turbine, gearbox, and controllable pitch propeller (CPP), which adversely affects speed, endurance, maneuverability, propulsion reliability, and operational readiness. The SWOT analysis positions the program in the Weaknesses–Opportunities (WO) quadrant, indicating a Turn-Around Strategy that uses modernization opportunities to overcome internal weaknesses. Repowering is therefore an appropriate strategic and cost-effective approach to improve propulsion reliability and long-term operational readiness, provided that it is supported by logistics, maintenance, personnel competence, and organizational policy.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas nelayan pesisir dalam menerapkan manajemen rantai pasok hasil perikanan berbasis cold chain guna meningkatkan kualitas hasil tangkapan, mengurangi kehilangan pascapanen, dan meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat pesisir di Desa Tajungan, Kecamatan Kamal, Kabupaten Bangkalan. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi penyuluhan, pelatihan interaktif, demonstrasi penanganan hasil tangkapan sesuai prinsip cold chain, simulasi pengemasan dan penyimpanan ikan menggunakan media pendingin sederhana, serta pendampingan dan evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test terhadap 30 peserta nelayan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta dengan rata-rata nilai pre-test sebesar 58,4 menjadi 85,7 pada post-test, atau meningkat 46,7%. Sebanyak 90% peserta mampu menerapkan teknik sortasi dan penanganan hasil tangkapan yang benar, 86,7% memahami alur rantai pasok hasil perikanan, 83,3% mampu menerapkan penggunaan media pendingin secara efektif, dan 93,3% menyatakan kegiatan sangat bermanfaat bagi peningkatan usaha perikanan mereka. Simulasi juga menunjukkan potensi penurunan kerusakan mutu hasil tangkapan hingga 25% dibandingkan sebelum pelatihan. Selain itu, 88,9% peserta berkomitmen menerapkan prosedur penanganan hasil tangkapan berbasis cold chain dalam aktivitas penangkapan dan distribusi sehari-hari. Kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa pelatihan manajemen rantai pasok hasil perikanan berbasis cold chain mampu meningkatkan kompetensi nelayan pesisir dalam pengelolaan logistik hasil tangkapan, memperbaiki kualitas produk perikanan, serta membuka peluang peningkatan nilai tambah dan pendapatan masyarakat. Model pelatihan yang diterapkan layak direplikasi pada wilayah pesisir lainnya sebagai upaya mendukung penguatan logistik maritim dan pembangunan ekonomi masyarakat nelayan secara berkelanjutan.
