Abstract

Increasing Production Capacity of Oyster Mushroom Farmers in Karangpring Village through Baglog Two-Level Pressing Technology. The production capacity of baglog manually by oyster mushroom farmers in Karangpring Village, Sukorambi District, Jember Regency is 1,250 baglogs/month with a low average productivity of about 625 kg/4 months which is only done by 2 workers. About 25% of the total baglog made had poor oyster mushroom mycelium growth due to the lack of density of baglog so oyster mushrooms could not be harvested. The problem that can be identified is the lack of experienced workers who can properly compact baglog from F3 oyster mushroom seeds. Oyster mushroom baglog that is less dense causes the growth of oyster mushroom mycelia to be inhibited, resulting in decreased productivity. There needs to be empowerment that aims to provide education on the technique of properly compacting the oyster mushroom baglog while at the same time providing assistance with a two-lever baglog press. The method used in this empowerment activity is training and demonstration of the use of a two-lever baglog press. The result of this service activity is that baglog pressing training is carried out with a two-lever baglog pressing machine for oyster mushroom farmers. With this tool, the baglog compaction process is faster with the right density (100%) where previously 25% of the total baglog that was compacted could not be completely compacted if done manually. The production target of F3 oyster mushroom seeds, which was originally very late, became on time with only 2 workers assisted by a two-lever baglog pressing machine. Empowerment of oyster mushroom farmers through training and the provision of a two-lever baglog press was able to increase the production of F3 oyster mushroom seedlings of 10,500 baglog per month with an increase in production efficiency of 573% compared to before using the tool.

Abstract

Abstract: Curahpoh Village is one of the producers of Robusta and Arabica coffee in Bondowoso Regency, East Java. The results of coffee processing generate waste that will pollute the environment if not managed further. This waste has the potential to be processed into cascara tea products and crafts. This waste management has great potential because the raw materials are free and reduce the pile of waste in an environment that supports zero waste agriculture. This service program aims to train the people of Curahpoh Bondowoso Village to process coffee waste into cascara tea and crafts. This activity is carried out through socialization and practice of making cascara tea and coffee leather craft dolls. There were 20 participants who took part in this activity. After participating in this activity, participants gained 97,5% of hard skills in making cascara tea bags and coffee leather crafts. In fact, many participants made innovations to the products made during service activities and promoted them to the community.

Abstract

[RESPONSE OF IN VITRO SHOOT INDUCTION ON VANILLA PLANTS (Vanilla planifolia) TO THE CONCENTRATION OF BAP AND 2,4-D]. The seeds of V. planifolia A. are plantation product that can be used as food scent and industrial ingredient. On its progression, vanilla farmers propagate by cuttings. The process of vanilla cutting has ben anobstacle in terms of pathogen attack and slow grow, and cuttings propagation is considered unable to meet the demand for seedlings. Tissue culture is a technology that can overcome problems in the vanilla propagation process. The research took place from January to June 2022 at the University of Jember, Bondowoso Campus.  The research  aims to determine the response of shoot induction to the addition of hormones. The completely randomized design (CRD)  was used with 2 factors, the BAP at concentration of 0 , 0.5  and 1 ppm combined with 2,4-D at concentrations of 0.5 , 1 and 1.5 ppm. The data were analyzed using ANOVA with a significant level of 5% and continued with the DMRT test with a significant level of 5%. The results showed that there was an interaction between concentration BAP and 2,4-D in vitro vanilla culture. The treatment without hormones showed a longer shoot formation and the combination of 2,4-D with a higher concentration caused an inhibition in shoot elongation. The combination treatment of 0.5 ppm BAP and 0.5 ppm 2,4-D also 1 ppm BAP and 0.5 ppm 2,4-D had the best response indicated by the highest shoot length and faster shoot formation.
