Abstract

The learning achievements obtained by each participant are formed from discipline, self- confidence and responsibility, which are character education values that really need to be instilled in the lives of students, especially at elementary school level. Character education in Indonesia is a national movement to create schools to nurture an ethical, responsible young generation, because character education places greater emphasis on aspects of universal values. Where several programs implemented are always religious in nature so as to form noble moral character. The development process is carried out continuously through subjects, self-development and a harmonious school culture. Looking at the conditions above, it shows that the application of character in this school is very necessary in forming noble character in students. The compatibility between character education and student achievement is considered to be very related and in accordance with the school's vision and mission, which always prioritizes religious values.

Abstract

Low motivation to learn is one of the main problems in the world of education, which affects the quality of learning. This research aims to examine the use of game-based learning as an innovation to increase student learning motivation. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with literature studies from various relevant sources. The research results show that game-based learning is able to create an interactive, fun and challenging learning atmosphere, so that it can increase students' motivation, involvement and understanding of the subject matter. With proper implementation, game-based learning can be an effective strategy in responding to the challenges of 21st century education.
