Abstract

Introduction: Choking is a life-threatening respiratory emergency that, if left untreated for too long, can lead to hypoxia and death. Cadres, as the spearhead of health services in the community, need to be equipped with knowledge and skills in first aid for choking. However, cadres' knowledge and skills in providing first aid to people with choking are currently limited. Various learning models can be adapted to the situation and needs of cadres. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of blended learning on improving choking knowledge and skills in handling choking among cadres. Method: This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design approach. This study was conducted in Tambun, Bekasi Regency, West Java Province in 2025. The population in this study were Posyandu cadres in Tambun. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 30 respondents. Data collection was carried out using a knowledge questionnaire and a checklist. The statistical test used was the Wilcoxon test. Result: the results showed an increase in knowledge and skills in handling choking among cadres with a p-value <0.001. The average post-test score showed an increase compared to the average pre-test score in knowledge and skills. Conclusion: The blended learning method significantly improved the knowledge and skills of choking management among cadres.
