Abstract

Kajian tafsir Al-Qur’an di Nusantara tidak dapat dilepaskan dari konteks sosial-historis yang melingkupi lahirnya karya tafsir tersebut. Tafsir Al-Furqan karya A. Hasan merupakan salah satu tafsir penting yang muncul pada masa transisi era kolonial menuju pasca kemerdekaan, sehingga memuat respons keislaman terhadap dinamika sosial, politik, dan kebangsaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konstruksi identitas keislaman Nusantara dalam Tafsir Al-Furqan melalui penafsiran ayat-ayat sosial Surah Al-Baqarah ayat 177–243 dengan pendekatan hermeneutik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dengan pendekatan kualitatif interpretatif. Data dianalisis menggunakan hermeneutika historis-kontekstual dengan menelaah relasi antara teks Al-Qur’an, konteks sosial-historis penafsir, dan horizon pemaknaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa A. Hasan membangun identitas keislaman Nusantara yang bercorak rasional, purifikatif, dan berorientasi pada etika sosial, keadilan, serta tanggung jawab kolektif umat. Tafsir ini juga merefleksikan sikap kritis terhadap ketidakadilan kolonial sekaligus mendorong kesadaran sosial dan kebangsaan pada masa awal kemerdekaan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Tafsir Al-Furqan berperan penting dalam pembentukan identitas keislaman Nusantara yang kontekstual, dinamis, dan berakar pada nilai-nilai sosial Al-Qur’an.

Abstract

Qur’anic exegesis in Indonesia has developed in response to the socio intellectual and religious dynamics of Muslim society. One significant work in the tradition of Indonesian Qur’anic interpretation is Al-Furqan Tafsir written by A. Hasan, a prominent Islamic reformist scholar known for his rational and purification-oriented approach. This study is motivated by the need to explore the methodological characteristics and interpretive orientation of Al-Furqan Tafsir and its contribution to the development of Qur’anic studies in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to analyze the background of its composition, the method of interpretation, and the Islamic thought reflected in the tafsir. This study employs a qualitative approach with library research as its main method. The primary data source is Al-Furqan Tafsir, while secondary data are obtained from relevant books and academic articles. Data analysis is conducted through content analysis by examining the structure, interpretive method, and dominant tendencies of interpretation. The findings reveal that Al-Furqan Tafsir applies a tahlili method with a reformist rational orientation, emphasizing the purification of faith, rejection of blind imitation (taqlid), and direct reference to the Qur’an and Hadith. In conclusion, this study affirms that Al-Furqan Tafsir makes a significant contribution to shaping a modern, critical, and contextual tradition of Qur’anic interpretation in Indonesia.

Abstract

The study of Nusantara Qur’anic exegesis is essential for understanding how the Qur’an interacts with local socio cultural contexts. One significant work in this tradition is Tafsir Al-Ibriz by K.H. Bisri Mustofa of Rembang, which was written in Javanese Pegon and aimed at pesantren communities and the wider Javanese Muslim society. This study aims to analyze and describe the characteristics of Tafsir Al-Ibriz, particularly in terms of language usage, interpretive method, exegetical orientation, and da‘wah approach within the framework of Nusantara tafsir. This research employs a qualitative library research method using a descriptive analytical approach to examine the primary text and relevant secondary sources. The findings reveal that Tafsir Al-Ibriz is characterized by its use of accessible local language, an ijmali (concise) interpretive method, and a strong socio-religious orientation that emphasizes practical moral guidance. The study concludes that Tafsir Al-Ibriz represents an important contribution to Nusantara Qur’anic exegesis and plays a significant role in making Qur’anic teachings more comprehensible and relevant to local Muslim communities.

Abstract

Criticism is a fundamental instrument in intellectual and social life; however, in practice, its meaning often shifts from a reflective tool to an expression of subjective interests. This phenomenon becomes problematic when criticism is no longer grounded in factual reality but is driven by emotions, prejudice, or hidden agendas. This study aims to examine the nature of criticism and to test its relevance within the framework of social and intellectual reality. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method by analyzing scholarly works on critical theory, social reality, and public discourse. Data analysis is conducted through content and interpretative analysis to identify the relationship between criticism and the reality that surrounds it. The findings indicate that constructive criticism must be based on rationality, intellectual honesty, and an orientation toward improvement. Criticism detached from reality tends to distort meaning and potentially generate social conflict. This study concludes that sound criticism is not merely an expression of freedom of speech but must be tested through its alignment with reality and moral responsibility.

Abstract

The study of Qur’anic exegesis in the Indonesian context plays a significant role in understanding interpretations that are responsive to social realities. One of the prominent works in Indonesian Qur’anic scholarship is Tafsir An-Nur by Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy, which reflects a modern approach to Qur’anic interpretation. This research aims to examine the characteristics, methods, and interpretative approaches employed in Tafsir An-Nur, as well as its contribution to the development of Nusantara tafsir. This study employs a library research method with a qualitative-descriptive approach. Data were collected through documentation of Tafsir An-Nur as the primary source and relevant supporting literature, and analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that Tafsir An-Nur applies a systematic and accessible interpretative method, emphasizing rational and contextual understanding. The work seeks to connect Qur’anic teachings with the social conditions of Indonesian society, making the interpretation practical and comprehensible. This study concludes that Tafsir An-Nur significantly contributes to the development of modern Indonesian Qur’anic exegesis that is moderate, rational, and socially relevant.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh disrupsi media digital yang memperluas akses tafsir Al-Qur’an, tetapi sekaligus memunculkan ketegangan antara kemudahan konsumsi konten dan akuntabilitas keilmuan. Tujuan penelitian ialah menganalisis dampak penetrasi teknologi digital terhadap validitas penyebaran tafsir di Indonesia, khususnya pada tiga isu: erosi otoritas tafsir tradisional, tantangan kredibilitas akibat lemahnya verifikasi sanad/kompetensi, dan risiko misinterpretasi karena format tafsir singkat (context dropping). Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif berbasis studi pustaka dengan kerangka analisis kritis, diperkuat analisis isi kualitatif terhadap sampel konten tafsir mikro di platform digital. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa digitalisasi berhasil mendemokratisasi akses tafsir, namun bersamaan dengan itu menormalisasi penafsiran dangkal yang mengurangi kedalaman kontekstual dan metodologis. Penerimaan publik cenderung bergeser dari integritas substansi ke efektivitas komunikasi serta popularitas. Kesimpulannya, diperlukan respons strategis melalui pedoman, regulasi, dan/atau sertifikasi konten untuk menjaga moderasi beragama dan validitas keilmuan tafsir di ruang digital.

Abstract

Mahmud Yunus’s Tafsir Al-Qur’an Al-Karim is a significant contribution to the Nusantara Qur’anic exegetical tradition, addressing Indonesian readers’ needs in educational and da‘wah contexts. Nevertheless, its structure, method, and exegetical orientation require a more systematic mapping to clarify its scholarly contribution to Indonesian tafsir studies. This study aims to examine the work’s presentation characteristics, identify its dominant interpretive method and exegetical style, and assess its contribution to the development of Nusantara tafsir. Employing library research with a descriptive analytical approach, the study applies content analysis to the tafsir text and relevant supporting literature. The findings indicate that the tafsir adopts a concise and communicative explanatory style, strongly emphasizing educational and moral orientation, and providing practical interpretations for general readers. Its exegetical tendency reflects an adabi ijtima‘i (literary social) orientation, particularly in themes of ethics, worship, and social guidance. In conclusion, Mahmud Yunus’s tafsir serves as an accessible medium for strengthening Qur’anic literacy while enriching Nusantara tafsir through a pedagogical popular approach. Abstract

Kajian tafsir Al-Qur’an di Indonesia mengalami perkembangan signifikan seiring dengan munculnya mufasir kontemporer yang berupaya menjawab tantangan zaman. Perubahan sosial, politik, budaya, dan keagamaan di Indonesia menuntut pendekatan tafsir yang tidak hanya bersifat tekstual normatif, tetapi juga dialogis dan kontekstual. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran mufasir kontemporer Indonesia dalam membangun dialektika antara kritik ilmiah dan realitas sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi pustaka (library research), dengan menganalisis karya-karya tafsir, artikel akademik, serta pemikiran mufasir Indonesia kontemporer. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis tematik dan wacana untuk mengungkap corak penafsiran, pendekatan metodologis, serta respons terhadap isu-isu sosial seperti pluralisme, keadilan sosial, kebangsaan, dan moderasi beragama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mufasir kontemporer Indonesia mengembangkan tafsir yang bersifat kritis, multidisipliner, dan kontekstual, dengan menjadikan realitas sosial sebagai ruang dialog dengan teks Al-Qur’an. Dialektika antara kritik ilmiah dan realitas sosial tersebut melahirkan corak tafsir yang khas Indonesia, yang tidak hanya berorientasi pada pemahaman teks, tetapi juga pada transformasi sosial. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperkaya khazanah studi tafsir Nusantara serta memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan pemikiran Islam yang moderat dan responsif terhadap dinamika masyarakat.
