Abstract

This research aims to develop a teaching material book for the Translation Methodology course for Arabic Language Education students at STAI Ali bin Abi Thalib Surabaya. This teaching material is expected to strengthen students' learning motivation and provide clear guidance in the learning process. The development of this teaching material uses a Research and Development (R&D) model with the ADDIE approach, consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. In the analysis stage, the researcher identifies the needs of the institution, students, and the learning syllabus. The design of the teaching material is tailored to the essential components of a good teaching book. In the development stage, the teaching material is created and validated by experts, teachers, and students. Implementation is carried out in both small and large groups to assess its effectiveness. Evaluation is conducted to assess how well the teaching material achieves its learning objectives. The results show that the final product, a Translation Methodology teaching material book with a contextual approach, can be used in the learning process for sixth-semester students. However, the evaluation indicates that improvements are still needed in terms of content, layout, and reading sources to enhance the teaching material. Further research is required to refine and improve the teaching material to make it more effective in supporting the teaching and learning process at STAI Ali bin Abi Thalib Surabaya.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the limited availability of teaching materials used in the Islamic Education Science course at STAI Ali bin Abi Thalib Surabaya. During the learning process, students relied on various separate references, resulting in learning materials that were not systematically organized or integrated into a comprehensive instructional resource. This condition made it difficult for students to understand the fundamental concepts of Islamic Education Science comprehensively and reduced the effectiveness of independent learning. The purpose of this study was to develop an Islamic Education Science module that meets instructional needs, determine its feasibility through expert validation, and describe its implementation in the learning process. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method consisting of needs analysis, product design, module development, expert validation, product revision, limited field testing, and final product improvement. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and validation by subject-matter and instructional experts. The findings revealed a strong need for an Islamic Education Science module because it helps students understand learning materials more systematically, independently, and effectively. The developed module includes learning outcomes, instructional materials, summaries, exercises, evaluations, and references organized according to the principles of Islamic education and students’ learning needs. Expert validation indicated that the module fulfilled the criteria of content validity, language appropriateness, presentation quality, and graphical design, making it suitable for instructional use. The implementation results also showed positive responses from both students and lecturers, as the module improved learning organization, facilitated understanding of course materials, and strengthened the integration of Islamic educational values into the learning process. Therefore, the developed Islamic Education Science module is considered feasible, practical, and relevant as a teaching resource for Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study explores the practice of visionary leadership in madrasah management and its implications for strengthening teacher professionalism within Islamic education. Visionary leadership is understood as the ability of educational leaders to formulate institutional vision, translate it into managerial policies, and strategically manage resources to support institutional quality and sustainable professional development. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research was conducted in December 2025 at an Islamic educational institution in Indonesia. Data were obtained from two key informants a foundation administrator and a madrasah principal supported by institutional documents. Data collection involved in depth interviews, limited observation, and documentation, while analysis was conducted thematically through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing with source triangulation to ensure credibility. The findings indicate that visionary leadership, when implemented through integrated managerial functions such as program planning, organizational structuring, teacher mobilization, academic supervision, and systematic evaluation, significantly strengthens teachers’ professional commitment, improves instructional performance, and supports sustainable professional growth. The novelty of this study lies in demonstrating that visionary leadership in madrasahs operates not merely as a normative leadership orientation but as a value based managerial practice grounded in Islamic principles that links institutional vision, ethical values, and professional development. This integrative model illustrates how leadership vision is operationalized in daily managerial practices to enhance institutional effectiveness and teacher professionalism, providing theoretical and practical insights for madrasah leaders, policymakers, and educational practitioners in developing vision oriented leadership strategies for sustainable improvement in Islamic education
