Abstract

Leadership is a fundamental element in social life and political systems. In a social context, leadership is understood as the ability of an individual to influence, guide, and empower members of society in order to achieve common goals based on prevailing values and norms. Meanwhile, political leadership relates to the activities of power holders in decision-making processes and the implementation of public policies for the broader public interest. Political leadership requires not only managerial and strategic competence, but also moral integrity, as reflected in leadership concepts found in the Qur’an and Hadith. Furthermore, legitimacy is a crucial aspect of political leadership as it determines the extent to which a leader’s authority is accepted and recognized by society. Legitimacy may derive from tradition, charisma, or rational-legal foundations. In modern democratic systems, legitimacy is generally obtained through constitutional mechanisms and public support. The structure of political leadership consists of formal and informal elements that are interconnected, while its functions include decision-making, direction-setting, social integration, political communication, and the maintenance of stability. Therefore, effective leadership requires synergy between legitimacy, institutional structure, and the proper implementation of functions in order to achieve social welfare and political stability.

Abstract

Abstract

Hospitals are increasingly required to balance high-quality healthcare delivery with financial sustainability, a condition that often generates ethical dilemmas related to pricing, cost transparency, supplier selection, and service efficiency. These challenges are particularly salient for Islamic hospitals, where healthcare services are expected to reflect Islamic values in practice rather than merely adopting a Sharia label. This study aims to analyze how Islamic business ethics function as a foundational framework guiding managerial and service-related decisions in Islamic hospital settings. This research employs a qualitative conceptual approach based on a synthesis of recent empirical studies and a review of Sharia hospital regulatory frameworks in Indonesia. The analysis focuses on integrating Islamic business ethics across three dimensions: service ethics, organizational ethics, and transactional ethics. The findings indicate that consistent implementation of values such as amanah (trustworthiness), justice, compassion, and service excellence guided by maqāṣid al-sharīʿah enhances public trust, improves patient experience, and supports long-term hospital sustainability through reputation and service differentiation. However, practical constraints remain, including limited availability of halal medicines, resource demands for gender-sensitive services, and inconsistent SOP implementation. The study concludes that Islamic business ethics serve as a strategic mechanism for ethical sustainability. Practically, the findings highlight the need for maqāṣid-based SOPs, Sharia compliance audits, strengthened halal supply chains, and continuous ethics training to institutionalize Sharia values in daily hospital operations.

Abstract

The development of the digital economy has significantly expanded the scope of modern business activities while creating complex ethical challenges such as information asymmetry, data misuse, and non-transparent transaction practices. This study aims to analyze the scope of digital business, explain the role of fiqh muamalah as a behavioral guideline, and elaborate on the fundamental muamalah values that serve as ethical guidelines in digital business practices. Using a library research method, this study reviews literature on fiqh muamalah, Islamic economics, and contemporary research related to economic digitalization. The findings indicate that digital business encompasses a wide range of technology-based transactions that require a strong ethical framework; fiqh muamalah functions as a normative guide ensuring justice, honesty, transparency, and consumer protection; and fundamental muamalah values such as trustworthiness (amanah), honesty (ṣidq), justice, avoidance of gharar, and maslahah are highly relevant in building ethical and sustainable digital business practices. The study concludes that integrating muamalah principles is essential to establishing a trustworthy, fair, and responsible digital business ecosystem.

Abstract

The symbiotic-mutualistic paradigm is a moderate approach in understanding the relationship between religion and the state, which has long been debated in Islamic social and political thought. It serves as a middle path between the integralistic approach that fully unites religion and state and the secularistic approach that strictly separates them. This paper aims to explain the concept, historical development, characteristics, and relevance of the symbiotic-mutualistic paradigm in national and state life. The research applies a library research method using a descriptive analysis of relevant literature. The findings indicate that this paradigm positions religion as a source of moral values and the state as a regulator of public affairs, both functioning in a complementary and mutually reinforcing relationship. In the Indonesian context, founded upon Pancasila, this paradigm is considered relevant as it accommodates religious values without establishing a religious state. Therefore, the symbiotic-mutualistic paradigm offers a moderate, inclusive, and harmonious framework for governance and national life.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of Islamic nomocracy in the thought of Tahir Azhary as a concept of the rule of law that places law as the highest authority in the administration of state life. According to his view, Islamic nomocracy is a constitutional system based on sharia principles, emphasizing the supremacy of law, justice, equality, consultation (shura), and the protection of public rights. This concept is closely related to the fundamental elements of fiqh siyasah such as constitution (dustur), legislation (al-sulthah al-tasyri’iyah), democracy, ummah, and shura as normative foundations in Islamic governance. Constitution is understood as the highest legal basis limiting power, while legislation functions to establish rules based on the Qur'an and Sunnah. Democracy in Islam is reflected through justice and deliberation, while the concept of ummah emphasizes the unity of society based on faith. Thus, the thought of Tahir Azhary shows that Islamic nomocracy is not merely a theoretical concept, but also a constitutional model that places law, morality, and public welfare as the main foundations of political life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the political thought of Al-Farabi and Al-Mawardi in the classical Islamic political tradition. The main problem in this study is the gap between philosophical-idealistic and normative-practical approaches that are often studied separately. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature approach through the study of the main works of the two figures and SINTA-indexed journal articles. The results of the study show that Al-Farabi emphasizes the concept of an ideal state (al-Madinah al-Fadhilah) that is oriented towards shared happiness through moral and intellectual leadership. Meanwhile, Al-Mawardi emphasized the practical aspects of government through the concept of the caliphate which includes the requirements of leaders and institutional systems. These two thoughts complement each other in understanding Islamic politics ideally and practically. This research confirms the relevance of the two thoughts in answering contemporary political challenges.

Abstract

The organic-integralistic paradigm in constitutional analysis views the nation and society as a whole interconnected unit. In the context of contemporary political jurisprudence, this paradigm is important to answer the complex challenges in the administration of modern government. This study aims to analyze the relevance of the organic-integralistic paradigm in the perspective of contemporary fiqh siyasah. The method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach through literature study. The results of the study show that Islamic political thought developed in response to globalization, liberalism, and demands for the protection of people's rights. In this case, the organic-integralistic paradigm plays a role in building a constitutional system oriented to sharia maqashid. In addition, this paradigm encourages the creation of a harmonious relationship between religious values and state authority. Various implementation models were found, ranging from traditional religious approaches to organic-Islamic models that are adaptive to the times. Thus, the organic-integralistic paradigm can be a conceptual alternative in formulating an integrative constitutional system between religious norms and modern administrative principles in a balanced and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This article examines the development of Shi‘i political jurisprudence (fiqh siyasah) from its early emergence to its transformation in the modern era. The study highlights the historical roots of Shi‘i political thought, particularly its foundation in the doctrine of the Imamate, which distinguishes it from Sunni political theory. Using a qualitative literature-based approach, this research explores the evolution of Shi‘i political thought across the classical, medieval, and modern periods. The findings indicate that Shi‘i political jurisprudence has undergone significant transformation, particularly through the formulation of the doctrine of wilayat al-faqih, which integrates religious authority with modern state governance. Furthermore, this article compares Shi‘i and Sunni political jurisprudence, emphasizing differences in leadership legitimacy, authority structures, and adaptability to modern political systems. This study concludes that Shi‘i political jurisprudence demonstrates a dynamic capacity to adapt to contemporary political realities while maintaining its theological foundations.
