Abstract

 PT TBA as a manufacturing company in the automotive industry faces quality problems in the form of defects in the wrong assembly arm in the Inner Left Normal process of Seat Frame Front Cushion products in the EFC Line Adjuster. Based on data for the March-May 2025 period, the average defect reaches 1.3 pcs per month and has the most dominant cost impact compared to other types of defects, with a potential material loss of up to IDR 6,236,708 per year. This study aims to identify the root cause of the problem and reduce the number of defects to zero defects through the application of the Quality Control Circle (QCC) method with an eight-step approach based on the PDCA cycle. The results of the analysis showed that the main cause came from the incompatibility of the arm rack design which allowed the mixing of right and left components, uncontrolled part picking methods, and the lack of optimal error prevention system (poka-yoke) on the machine. Improvement actions are carried out through modification of the rack design following the shape of the arm, the installation of a lever and gravity-based mechanical cover system, and the integration of sensors and poka-yoke systems in the process area. After all stages of QCC were implemented, defects were successfully reduced to 0 pcs per month consistently from August to October 2025 or a decrease of 100%. The impact of the improvement not only improves the quality aspect, but also eliminates the potential cost loss to Rp 0, without affecting the aspects of safety, delivery, and employee morale. These results prove that QCC is effective as a sustainable quality control approach in the automotive industry.

Abstract

LP Casting Head Cylinder berperan sebagai ruang pembakaran dan penyalur panas ke sistem pendingin. Kualitas pengecoran komponen ini sangat berpengaruh terhadap kinerja mesin secara keseluruhan. Cacat produksi yang masih sering terjadi adalah misrun, kirai, sandrop, pressure abnormal, dan kotoran melekat. Berdasarkan laporan dari perusahaan manufaktur komponen otomotif nasional, tingkat cacat pada proses casting rata-rata mencapai 2,5% – 4%, yang jauh di atas standar Six Sigma. Penelitian ini memiliki variabel berupa jumlah produk cacat dan jenis cacat produk Head Cylinder. Dari kelima jenis cacat dominan, yang pqling sering terjadi adalah cacat misrun di pin sebanyak 363 pcs dan cacat misrun di studbosh sebanyak 193 pcs. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan, diperoleh nilai DPMO sebesar 7,774 yang berada pada level 3,9 Sigma. Hasil perhitungan juga menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kualitas proses dibandingkan kondisi sebelumnya. Nilai DPMO setelah perbaikan sebesar 3,020 yang berada pada level 4,3 Sigma. Dari analisis dan pengolahan data yang dilakukan menggunakan metode Six-sigma DMAIC, maka diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa kualitas pengendalian pada NG misrun berada pada level sigma 3,9 dengan nilai 3,774. Setelah dilakukan perbaikan, jumlah cacat dapat ditekan secara signifikan dari 556 ppc menjadi 216 pcs dalam waktu 4 Minggu dengan kenaikan nilai sigma menjadi 4,3 Sigma yang menunjukkan peningkatan efisiensi produksi.

Abstract

Fire is one of the main risks in industrial environments that can cause significant losses. PT XYZ has 185 fire protection devices, with fire extinguishers (APAR) and hydrants as the primary components totaling 62 units. Observations revealed that 17 of 51 APAR units (33%) and 3 of 11 hydrant units (27%) were in substandard condition, caused by a manual inspection system with weaknesses including paper-based data vulnerable to loss, lack of centralized monitoring, difficulty tracing inspection history, no expiry reminders, and slow data compilation. This study aims to analyze the actual condition of fire protection equipment, evaluate inspection compliance, and implement a QR Code-based digital inspection system using the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) method. Simulation on 15 APAR units and 5 hydrant units demonstrated a 35% time efficiency improvement, reducing inspection time from 71 to 46 minutes. The digital system outperformed the manual system across all evaluation indicators. The estimated full implementation cost for 62 units is IDR 2,248,000, considered proportional to the risks of fire protection system failure

Abstract

The growing demand for customized products and shorter delivery times has intensified the pressure on logistics and warehouse operations to become more efficient, flexible, and responsive. In this context, selecting an appropriate automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) is a complex multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem that requires a systematic, quantitative evaluation approach. This study proposes an integrated decision-making framework that combines the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to determine the most suitable automated storage technology for warehousing operations. Four key criteria were identified—Throughput, Accuracy, Ergonomics, and Space Utilization—and three alternatives were evaluated: Miniload, Vertical Carousel, and Vertical Lift. The AHP method was used to derive the relative importance of the criteria, producing consistent weights with a CR value of 8.28%. These weights were subsequently applied in the TOPSIS analysis to rank the alternatives based on their closeness to the ideal solution. The results indicate that Vertical Lift emerged as the optimal choice (CC = 0.6657), followed by Vertical Carousel (CC = 0.4657) and Miniload (CC = 0.3688). Sensitivity analysis, conducted through both One-at-a-Time (OAT) and scenario-based approaches, confirmed the robustness of the decision model under varying preference scenarios. This research contributes to the body of knowledge on warehouse automation decision-making by providing a transparent, quantitative, and adaptable framework that supports managers in enhancing operational performance and optimizing resource utilization.

Abstract

The objective of this community service activity was to determine the extent to which employees understand the company’s system for implementing the 5S concept, to identify problems in the application of 5S during work processes, and to establish appropriate control measures and follow-up actions for 5S implementation at PT Fanah Jaya Maindo. The method used in this activity was the 5S method, which is a technique for maintaining the quality of the work environment by enhancing orderliness, creating a safe and comfortable workplace, and improving efficiency and productivity. Participants in this activity consisted of all staff and supervisory employees working at PT FJM. Based on observation results, the problem identified in the implementation of 5S was the suboptimal application of the Seiketsu (standardization) principle. This issue indicates the need for a more structured system of tool coding and an obligation for each employee to return work equipment to its original place after use. The results of the socialization activity showed that participants gained a very good understanding of the material presented. Positive participant responses were reflected in the appreciation expressed toward both the content and the manner in which the activities were delivered. This achievement of understanding is expected to encourage an increased commitment among employees to apply the 5S principles consistently in their respective work environments

Abstract

Barokah Amanah Mustaqbal Orphanage in Karawang faces challenges in household waste management, including the absence of waste segregation practices, the lack of organic waste processing, and limited awareness among residents regarding the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness. These conditions have the potential to cause environmental pollution and negatively affect the health and comfort of the orphanage residents. This Community Service Program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of the orphanage residents and administrators in waste management through environmental education and the application of appropriate technology. The program was implemented through preliminary observations, educational sessions on waste management, training on waste segregation, hands-on composting practice using a simple composter, and continuous mentoring to ensure program sustainability. The results showed that participants gained a better understanding of proper waste management practices, waste segregation facilities were established, organic waste processing using a simple composter was successfully implemented, and an environmental awareness group was formed to support the continuity of the program. The application of a simple composter proved to be a practical and affordable solution for managing organic waste in accordance with the needs and conditions of the orphanage, while educational and mentoring activities encouraged the development of environmentally responsible behavior. Overall, the program provided an effective solution to waste management problems and contributed to creating a cleaner, healthier, more comfortable, and sustainable living environment within the orphanage.

Abstract

The physical work environment in the Aerosol Production Department of PT XYZ experienced problems related to excessive room temperatures reaching 37.3°C and chemical odor pollution caused by vapor recirculation from the coating oven process. These conditions potentially reduced operator comfort and concentration. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the Kaizen approach through the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle in controlling production room temperature and improving air quality. A quantitative descriptive method with an Action Research approach was employed. Problem identification and root cause analysis were conducted using the 7 QC Tools, particularly the Pareto Diagram and Fishbone Diagram. Improvement actions included the installation of turbine ventilators, aluminum foil roof insulation, and a 3-meter vertical exhaust ducting system. The results showed that the average room temperature decreased from 34.6°C to 27.4°C, representing a reduction of 7.2°C, while the peak daytime temperature decreased by 8.7°C and met the established threshold limit value. In addition, chemical odor pollution was completely eliminated. Therefore, the Kaizen-PDCA approach proved effective in improving the physical work environment sustainably.

Abstract

The assembly process of automation machine enclosures based on aluminum profiles at PT XYZ is still performed manually at low working positions, causing workers to frequently adopt bent, squatting, and prolonged sitting postures. These conditions may increase the risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs), which can reduce worker comfort and productivity. This study aims to analyze the level of working posture risk in the enclosure assembly area, identify the body parts experiencing the highest level of discomfort, and design a work aid to reduce ergonomic risks. The research employed the Nordic Body Map (NBM) method to identify musculoskeletal complaints and the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method assisted by Ergofellow software to evaluate working posture risks. The results indicated that the dominant complaints were experienced in the back, lower back, neck, shoulders, and hands. The REBA assessment produced a score of 7 for the first worker, categorized as a medium risk level, and a score of 8 for the second worker, categorized as a high risk level. Based on these findings, an ergonomic work chair was designed with adjustable height, back support, and wheels to improve work flexibility. The implementation of the proposed work aid is expected to reduce the risk of MSDs, enhance worker comfort, and improve productivity in the enclosure assembly process

Abstract

Excavator Caterpillar 305.5E2 merupakan alat berat yang memiliki peran penting dalam kegiatan konstruksi dan pertambangan. Keandalan alat sangat dipengaruhi oleh kondisi sistem pelumasan engine yang berfungsi untuk mengurangi gesekan antar komponen, mencegah keausan, serta menjaga temperatur kerja mesin tetap stabil. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kerusakan komponen pada sistem pelumasan, menyusun perencanaan preventive maintenance (PM) dan corrective maintenance (CM) periode 2024–2026, serta menghitung estimasi biaya perawatan menggunakan pendekatan nilai waktu uang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan deskriptif melalui observasi lapangan, dokumentasi riwayat kerusakan, studi literatur, serta analisis troubleshooting pada komponen sistem pelumasan yang meliputi oil filter, oil pump, hose, oil pan, dan gasket head cylinder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kerusakan dominan pada sistem pelumasan disebabkan oleh keterlambatan penggantian oli, penyumbatan oil filter, serta kebocoran pada beberapa komponen pendukung. Berdasarkan hasil identifikasi tersebut, disusun program perawatan yang terdiri atas inspeksi harian, perawatan bulanan (P1), tiga bulanan (P3), enam bulanan (P6), dan dua belas bulanan (P12), yang dilengkapi dengan check sheet sebagai instrumen pengendalian kegiatan perawatan. Estimasi biaya perawatan untuk periode 2024–2026 dihitung menggunakan suku bunga acuan Bank Indonesia sebesar 5,75% per tahun dan menghasilkan total biaya sebesar Rp71.126.018. Penerapan program perawatan yang terencana diharapkan mampu mengurangi downtime, meningkatkan keandalan sistem pelumasan, memperpanjang umur pakai komponen, serta mendukung efisiensi operasional Excavator Caterpillar 305.5E2 secara berkelanjutan.
