Abstract

Waste management poses a significant environmental challenge, yet dry waste holds potential as a renewable energy source through Waste-to-Energy (WTE) technology. This study aims to analyze the potential of utilizing heat from dry waste combustion for drying applications using a hybrid approach of experimental methods and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation. The experimental stage was conducted by burning dry waste in a furnace to obtain the average hot gas temperature, which was measured at 295.33°C. This value was then used as a boundary condition in the CFD simulation of an integrated heat exchanger system within the furnace. Air at a temperature of 30°C was flowed into the heat exchanger with four mass flow rate variations (0.087, 0.092, 0.126, and 0.165 kg/s). The simulation results show that the system is capable of heating the air to a temperature range of 46.05°C to 58.05°C, which is ideal for drying applications. An inverse relationship was found between the mass flow rate and the outlet temperature, where a lower flow rate results in hotter air. This research proves that the heat recovery system from dry waste combustion is technically feasible and has the potential to be a sustainable alternative energy solution for drying processes.

Abstract

Perubahan iklum global sangat mempengaruhi produksi pangan, ketersediaan air dan energi. Sehingga meningkatkan tantangan dalam pemenuhan kebutuhsan dasar masyarakat terkait ketiga sektor kehidupan tersebut. Salah satu langkah dalam proses adaptasi atas perubahan iklim adalah memberdayakan wanita sebagai agen perubahan pada level rumah tangga untuk menjadi sumber inspirasi dalam ketahanan rumah tangga terhadap iklim. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran wanita terhadap pentingnya ketahanan pangan, air dan energi sebagai strategi adaptasi terhadap perubahan iklim global. Bentuk kegaiatan adalah melalui proses edukasi partisipasif yang melibatkan kelompok wanita Rumah Keluarga Indonesia. Secara keseluruhan, tahapan pelaksanaan dimulai dari survei, penyusunan materi edukasi, pelaksanaan edukasi dan evaluasi melalui proses observasi partisipasi aktif peserta. Pelaksanaan dihadiri oleh 7 orang ibu rumah tangga yang aktif pada komunitas Rumah Keluarga Indonesia. Materi yang disampaikan terdiri dari dampak perubahan iklim terhadap produksi pangan, ketersediaan air dan energi, pemnfaatan perkarangan rumah sebagai sumber pangan dengan cara melakukan urban farming dimana di dalamnya ada proses pemanfaatan limbah organik yang berasal dari rumah tangga. Teknologi sederhana mengenai alterntif energi listrik dari PLN juga disampaikan, misalnya pemanfaatan solar panel sederhana untuk lampu pekarangan, dan lain-lain. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta sangat antusias atas materi yang disampaikan dan terjadi peningkatan pemahaman serta kesadaran atas peran perempuan di dalam ketahanan pangan, air dan energi terhadap perubahan iklim

Abstract

This research aims to design and create a sms-based motor vehicle security system with an ATMega 8535 microcontroller. This research utilizes hand phone technology and microcontroller. Making this tool has an economical price to secure motorized vehicles. Important prototypes in making this tool are the ATMega 8535 microcontroller, GSM Modem and HP. In making this tool the first thing to make is to make a microcontroller program for the controller. Making this program uses CV Avr soft ware (Code Vision Avr). After the program is finished, the program is downloaded to the microcontroller. Control is done by the microcontroller when it gets input. The result of this research is to get a vehicle security system that is integrated by the ignition system on a motorcycle. The process of securing a motorized vehicle when it is stolen is, the security system will send sms information that the motorcycle is stolen, the alarm sounds and the ignition system is cut off. To turn off the alarm and start the motorcycle, the owner sends an SMS with the format *ALOF# to the security system and starts the motorcycle normally (Pull the front brake three times then position the key to ON mode).
