Abstract

Domestic violence is a recurring social problem that negatively impacts the psychological and emotional well-being of its victims, especially women. This study explores the effectiveness of psychological assistance services provided by UPTD PPA Surabaya in helping women victims, particularly wives, recover and achieve self-empowerment. Employing qualitative methods, including interviews, field observations, and document analysis, this research examines a single client case and draws insights from three counsellors. The results reveal that victims often experience psychological downturns, such as low self-esteem and helplessness, which are exacerbated by emotional and financial dependence. UPTD PPA plays a vital role in providing psychological counselling, legal services, and empowerment programs to help victims rebuild their self-confidence and regain autonomy. However, challenges such as limited human resources, societal stigma, and institutional barriers remain. This study concludes that a trauma-informed and empowerment-based approach is essential in supporting the long-term recovery of domestic violence survivors and must be supported by coordinated efforts across community, institutional, and policy levels.

Abstract

Digital transformation has positioned social media as a primary space for interpersonal relationships while generating new psychological vulnerabilities in romantic dynamics. Exposure to open, symbolic, and ambiguous social content fosters social media jealousy, a form of jealousy shaped by interpretations of a partner's digital activities. This study aims to examine the roles of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and social comparison in shaping digital jealousy among active social media users in dating relationships. Using a quantitative correlational design, 213 young adults were recruited via purposive sampling. Instruments included the FoMO scale, the Iowa–Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM), and a modified social media jealousy scale. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that FoMO and social comparison simultaneously have a significant effect on social media jealousy (). Partially, FoMO contributes to online relational surveillance, while upward social comparison fosters insecurity and distorted relationship evaluations. These findings confirm that digital jealousy is a multidimensional psychological construct formed through the interaction of cognitive and emotional factors within the social media ecosystem.

Abstract

Climate change affects not only the environment but also the psychological well-being of young people. This study aimed to explore perceptions of climate anxiety and future outlooks among young adults in Indonesia. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through focus group discussions involving 22 participants aged 18–25 years, selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that young adults perceived climate change as a real phenomenon marked by extreme weather, seasonal uncertainty, flooding, and increased health vulnerability. Participants identified human activities and low environmental awareness as the main causes of the climate crisis. The impacts of climate change were experienced in psycho-emotional, physical, and socio-economic aspects, particularly anxiety, health concerns, work disruptions, and economic uncertainty. These findings conclude that climate anxiety among Indonesian young adults is closely linked to everyday environmental experiences and uncertain future expectations. The study implies the need for climate education, psychological support, strengthened self-efficacy, and climate policies that are responsive to young people’s vulnerabilities.
