Abstract

This study aims to analyze the tradition of Malem Songo Marriage within the framework of cultural Islam as a form of acculturation between Islamic teachings and local traditions of the coastal community in Tuban. This research employs an empirical normative method with case and historical approaches, using interviews, observations, and literature studies for data collection. The results show that the Malem Songo Marriage tradition is a marriage practice conducted on the 29th night of Ramadan and has been passed down through generations. This tradition reflects a harmonious acculturation process between Islamic values and local culture, where its implementation still fulfills the pillars and requirements of a valid marriage in Islam. From the perspective of Islamic law and state law, this practice is considered legitimate as long as it is not accompanied by absolute beliefs regarding certain times determining the success of marriage. In addition, this tradition also holds religious, social, and economic values, such as strengthening social solidarity and reducing wedding costs. Therefore, Malem Songo Marriage can be understood as a form of cultural Islam that is adaptive without deviating from Islamic principles.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept and forms of integrating ecopesantren-based learning into the Fiqh subject at MA Plus Sunan Drajat 7, as well as its impact on students’ ecological awareness. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with Fiqh teachers, the head of the madrasah, and students, as well as documentation studies including lesson plans (RPP) and learning activity archives. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through source and technique triangulation.the findings indicate that ecopesantren-based Fiqh learning at MA Plus Sunan Drajat 7 is integratively designed by utilizing the pesantren’s agrarian environment, such as gardens, rice fields, and natural resources, as contextual learning media. The integration of learning is implemented through hands-on practices in the topics of thaharah, muamalah, and agricultural zakat, which are linked to farming activities and environmental management. This learning approach enhances students’ applied understanding of Fiqh and fosters environmental awareness. Students not only comprehend Islamic legal principles cognitively but also practice them in their daily lives. Therefore, ecopesantren-based learning is proven to be effective in shaping both students’ religious character and sustainable ecological awareness.   Keywords: ecopesantren, Fiqh learning, agrarian environment, ecological awareness, pesantren

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the challenges of the digital era and examine innovative Aqidah Akhlak learning strategies in strengthening students’ religious character at MAN 1 Tuban. The digital era presents both opportunities and challenges for Islamic education. While digital technology enables more engaging learning processes, it also poses serious challenges, such as social media addiction, low digital literacy, behavioral changes, and unequal access to technology, which may weaken students’ religious values. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews with teachers, students, school leaders, and parents, as well as relevant documentation. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis, with validity ensured through the triangulation of sources and methods. The findings reveal that the primary challenges in strengthening students’ religious character include the excessive use of social media, a decline in the quality of worship, a limited ability to critically assess religious information, and reduced social interaction. To address these challenges, MAN 1 Tuban implements innovative Aqidah Akhlak learning through interactive digital media, active learning methods, curriculum integration, teacher competency development, and collaboration with parents and the community. These innovations play a significant role in reinforcing students’ religious character, particularly in fostering discipline in worship, religious attitudes, responsibility, and moral integrity amid the rapid flow of digital culture.   Keywords: Aqidah Akhlak, Digital Era, Learning Innovation, MAN 1 Tuban, Religious Character

Abstract

This article examines the implementation of Society Action Research (SAR), also known as Participatory Action Research (PAR), as a participatory learning approach to strengthen students’ character and morality at TPQ Al-Mabrur. The main problems identified include the low internalization of religious values among students, limited learning facilities, low motivation, and inconsistent teacher discipline. SAR serves as a practical solution through active involvement of students, teachers, and the community in four core stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Religious and social activities such as communal cleaning, Qur’an recitation, public sermons, and charity programs function as media for internalizing values of honesty, discipline, empathy, and responsibility. The findings show significant improvement in students’ religious awareness, discipline, social empathy, and reflective capability. Furthermore, strong collaboration between the TPQ, community, and parents supports the continuity and effectiveness of the program. The study concludes that SAR is a holistic approach integrating cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, making it an essential model for character education in Islamic learning institutions.
