Abstract

This study aims to examine pesantren education as an ideal educational system model from a historical perspective in the Nusantara region, with a focus on the Futuhiyyah Islamic Boarding School in Mranggen, Demak Regency. Pesantren have long played a vital role in the history of Islamic education in Indonesia, particularly in shaping generations that are not only intellectually capable but also spiritually and socially strong. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review and analysis of educational practices in pesantren. The findings indicate that Futuhiyyah develops an integrated educational system that harmoniously combines the teaching of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning), Islamic values, and the national curriculum. Core values instilled include sincerity, independence, simplicity, discipline, brotherhood, and spirituality. Furthermore, the pesantren has successfully adapted to changing times by utilizing technology and undergoing institutional transformation while maintaining its Islamic identity. Thus, the education system at Futuhiyyah represents an ideal, contextual, and sustainable educational model for shaping the The Perfect Human in the modern era. These findings enrich the discourse on the history of Islamic education and offer an alternative model for developing a national education system rooted in local and spiritual values.

The data sources used are primary data sources in the form of observations and interviews, as well as secondary data sources in the form of documentation results. Data collection techniques use observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique in this research uses data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, data triangulation uses data source triangulation, technical triangulation, and time triangulation. The results of the research show that muamalah fiqh learning for mentally retarded children at the Magelang City State Special School is integrated through PAI learning so that the learning is adapted to the needs and abilities of mentally retarded children. In learning Islamic jurisprudence, the material taught to mentally retarded children is the basics of buying and selling, such as the meaning of buying and selling, the law of buying and selling, and various types of buying and selling. There are two strategies used by PAI teachers in teaching mentally retarded children, namely individual strategies and behavioral strategies. Meanwhile, the methods used by PAI teachers in learning jurisprudence are lecture, question and answer, cooperative, and Contextual Teacing Learning (CTL) methods. The supporting factors for learning muamalah fiqh for mentally retarded children include adequate facilities and infrastructure, appropriate learning methods and strategies, and PAI teachers having a patient attitude in teaching mentally retarded children. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include the lack of learning media used by teachers, the lack of PAI teachers in special schools, the absence of learning modules or books for students to use, and mentally retarded children who have different cognitive abilities from normal children.

Abstract

The urban landscape plays an important role in the dynamics of Islamic education in the archipelago. As the center of social, economic, and cultural interaction, the urban landscape supports the development of Islamic education institutions, both formal and non-formal. Modernization and urbanization have brought significant changes in the Islamic education system, creating opportunities in expanding access and learning innovation, but also presenting challenges in the form of commercialization of education, degradation of traditional values, and inequality of access. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between urban landscape and Islamic education from historical and theoretical perspectives, examine the impact of modernization on infrastructure, curriculum, and patterns of social interaction, and formulate strategies for optimizing the urban landscape as a sustainable Islamic education ecosystem. This research uses a qualitative approach with historical, phenomenological, and descriptive-analytical methods. Data were obtained through literature studies, field observations, interviews with academics and Islamic education practitioners, and analysis of relevant policy documents.. The results of the study show that (1) the urban landscape contributes to strengthening Islamic education by accelerating the spread of religious knowledge, expanding the network of ulama, and encouraging innovation in learning methods. (2) urbanization also poses challenges, such as the commercialization of education, shifting cultural values, and inequality of access to Islamic education in urban environments. (3) To overcome these challenges, an adaptive strategy is needed that includes the use of digital technology in learning, strengthening the role of mosques as community-based education centers, and developing Islamic education areas that are integrated with urban spatial planning, Strengthening the Role of Media in Islamic Da'wah and Education With the right strategy, the urban landscape can be optimized as an inclusive Islamic education ecosystem, adaptive to the development of the times, and still maintaining the values of Nusantara Islam.
