Abstract

Successful development encompasses various aspects of community life and cannot be separated from progress in the health sector. Health is one of the key indicators in determining the quality of life of a population. Therefore, attention to health—especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly—is of great importance. Regular health check-ups serve as a preventive measure to help the community detect illnesses early and encourage individuals to take an active role in maintaining their own health. Several types of examinations are commonly provided free of charge during community service activities, including blood pressure checks, random blood glucose tests, uric acid level tests, and cholesterol level screenings. These health checks are especially beneficial for the elderly, as they help monitor overall health conditions and enable early management of diseases to prevent further complications. In this activity, a total of 40 elderly individuals voluntarily participated in the health screening. The methods used included health education sessions and direct examinations of blood pressure, uric acid levels, and random blood glucose levels. The counseling was delivered using simple and clear language, and it included a question-and-answer session to help participants better understand the information provided. The results of the examinations showed that some of the elderly participants had high blood pressure and elevated blood glucose levels, which led to recommendations for follow-up visits to nearby healthcare facilities. Through this health screening initiative, the overall health quality of the elderly participants improved, and their awareness of the importance of early detection increased. This activity is expected to motivate the broader community to pay more attention to their health and to undergo regular health check-ups. By taking a proactive role in managing their well-being, individuals can reduce the risk of serious complications in the future and contribute to the creation of a healthier society overall.

Abstract

This article explores the application of Islamic ethics, particularly the concept of tawhid, in the development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI). The study employs a qualitative descriptive method based on a literature review to analyze Islamic principles, such as justice (al-'adl), trust (amanah), and public benefit (al-maslahah), in addressing ethical challenges posed by AI. The findings indicate that Islamic values can provide a holistic framework for tackling algorithmic bias, privacy concerns, and social inequalities associated with AI. However, the study identifies a gap in academic research regarding the integration of tawhid principles with AI development. A limitation of this research is the lack of empirical case studies to test the effectiveness of implementing these principles in technology development.

Abstract

This mixed-methods study examined the effectiveness of a talaqqī-based tahsin strategy implemented at Masjid At‑Taqwa, Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang, in addressing students’ limited proficiency in makhraj, tajwīd, and reading fluency. Qualitative data were collected through structured observations, document analysis, and semi‑structured interviews with purposively selected participants, including students and instructors. Quantitative data were derived from mentoring examination outcomes across two academic years, involving 2,211 students in 2023–2024 and 1,889 students in 2024–2025. The intervention  integrated the principles of talaqqī (listening, imitation, repetition, and immediate correction) within a mosque‑based learning ecosystem consisting of the daily Subuhan Maos Qur’an program and weekly activities, namely —Tahsin Monday, Tilāwah Wednesday, and Kahfian Thursday. Across both cohorts, examination results showed substantial improvement in students’ recitation competence. The pass rate increased from 82.41% (1,822 of 2,211 students) in the 2023–2024 academic year to 90.26% (1,705 of 1,889 students) in 2024–2025, while the failure rate declined from 17.59% (389 of 2,211 students) to 9.74% (184 of 1,889 students).  These quantitative trends were corroborated by observational and interview data, which revealed marked improvements in the accuracy of articulation, consistency in the application of tajwīd rules, and overall reading fluency. Participants also reported enhanced motivation, greater learning discipline, and deeper spiritual engagement with the Qur’an. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on the Qur’anic pedagogy by proposing a scalable, practice‑intensive talaqqī model for higher education. By integrating large‑scale assessment data with qualitative evidence derived from a structured campus mosque program, the study offers a replicable framework for cultivating a sustainable Qur’anic learning and strengthening religious literacy among university students. The findings further demonstrate the potential of mosque-based educational ecosystems to serve as effective platforms for fostering both technical proficiency in Qur’anic recitation and the spiritual formation of learners.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of bullying in Indonesian educational institutions reflects deeper structural and cultural challenges within the education system. This study aims to analyze the implementation of positive moderation in Islamic education within Muhammadiyah schools as a preventive strategy against bullying. This research employed a qualitative field research design using a sociological approach to education. Data were collected through observation, interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and documentation, involving stakeholders in Muhammadiyah schools in Sragen Regency. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model proposed by Matthew B. Miles and A. Michael Huberman, and was further strengthened by Pierre Bourdieu’s theory capital. The findings indicate that positive moderation is systematically implemented through curriculum integration, dialogical and participatory active learning, and the development of an inclusive school culture. Theoretically, this study contributes to the expansion of religious moderation into a broader framework of educational moderation. Practically, it offers a model for developing a humanistic and adaptive Islamic education system in response to contemporary social and interactive challenges.

Abstract

The program sought to strengthen the pedagogical capacity of teachers at SMA Muhammadiyah 01 Weleri, Kendal (Central Java), through the application of role‑playing methods and the use of tangible instructional media. Implemented through a participatory training model, the activities encompassed conceptual reinforcement, guided demonstrations, structured simulations and role‑playing exercises, as well as reflective discussions. Learning supports such as a Kaaba miniature and sequenced manāsik simulation materials were employed to promote hands‑on learning and active participation. The outcomes of the program indicate enhanced teacher understanding of both procedural and conceptual aspects of the rituals, increased confidence in facilitating simulation‑based instruction, and improved ability to design interactive and engaging lesson plans. The novelty of this program lies in integrating role-play pedagogy with tangible ritual-learning media to strengthen practical, student-centred religious instruction. These findings suggest policy implications for schools and teacher development programs, including the adoption of experiential manasik modules and the provision of ritual-learning kits to improve the quality of Islamic religious education.
