Abstract

This study examines the relationship between forest fires, environmental quality, and regional economic performance on the underemployment rate in Indonesia, highlighting a limitation in the existing literature that tends to assume a direct relationship between environmental factors and labor market outcomes. In the context of developing economies characterized by a dominant informal sector, this study argues that environmental impacts on the labor market are not direct, but rather operate through adjustment mechanisms such as productivity changes and working hours. Using panel data covering 30 provinces over the period 2015–2024 and employing a Fixed Effects Model (FEM), the results show that environmental and economic variables jointly influence underemployment; however, only GRDP has a statistically significant and negative partial effect. Meanwhile, forest fire and environmental quality variables are not statistically significant. The negative coefficient of forest fires suggests the presence of labor market adjustment mechanisms or reflects underlying land-based economic activities that do not fully capture the direct environmental impact. The main contribution of this study lies in demonstrating that the underemployment indicator has limitations in capturing environmental impacts that are indirect, lagged, and spatially uneven. Therefore, this study offers a reinterpretation of the relationship between environmental factors and the labor market, where economic factors play a dominant role in the short run, while environmental factors operate through structural channels over the long term.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to determine the influence of the Human Development Index and Regional Infrastructure on the Coverage of Employment Social Security Participation in the Informal Sector using sample data from 34 provinces in Indonesia for the 2022-2024 period. Methods: The research method used is a quantitative approach with panel data regression analysis.  Result: The analysis results indicate that the Human Development Index and Regional Infrastructure have a positive and significant effect on the coverage of social security participation for informal sector. Conclusions: A high Human Development Index will have a positive impact not only on individual welfare but also on expanding the coverage of employment social security programs. Infrastructure development will also facilitate and broaden access to social security services and enhance an individual's economic capacity to participate. Originality: This research provides a novel contribution by empirically testing and confirming that the variables of the Human Development Index and Regional Infrastructure are determining factors for social security participation in the hard-to-reach informal sector segment. These findings enrich the literature with a structural perspective that offers more integrated policy solutions.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the digital capacity and marketing capabilities of members of the Joint Business Group (KUBE) Pedado through a marketing technology (martech) approach. The program was implemented from June to December 2025 and involved 20 participants through training sessions, workshops, simulations, and intensive mentoring. The materials covered digital content creation, social media optimization, the utilization of WhatsApp Business, and performance analysis using Meta Business Suite. Evaluation was conducted using pre-tests and post-tests, complemented by observations of participants’ digital activities. The results indicate a significant improvement in participants’ competencies. The average score increased from 52.6 to 82.6, representing a 57.03% improvement. Specifically, digital literacy increased by 45.45%, content creation skills by 64.00%, social media management by 63.46%, use of WhatsApp Business by 51.72%, and understanding of digital analytics by 62.50%. In addition, there was an increase in digital engagement, reflected in higher interaction rates and market reach. The program also strengthened business branding and fostered a shift in entrepreneurial mindset toward a growth mindset. Therefore, the martech approach has proven effective in improving the digital capacity and marketing performance of community-based MSMEs and demonstrates strong potential for sustainable replication.
