Abstract

ABSTRAK     Pentingnya Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa internasional merupakan hal tidak bisa kita pungkiri. Tuntutan semacam ini membawa dampak yang besar dalam dunia pendidikan khususnya. Oleh sebab itu, di Indonesia pengajaran Bahasa Inggris telah dilaksanakan mulai dari Sekolah Dasar hingga tingkat universitas agar nantinya generasi bangsa Indonesia diharapkan siap terhadap tantangan di era globalisasi. Di sisi lain, muncul berbagai lembaga kursus Bahasa Inggris yang memasang tarif begitu fantastis. Kesenjangan ekonomi dalam masyarakat menjadikan Bahasa Inggris tidak dapat dinikmati oleh semua orang, terutama masyarakat ekonomi bawah. Diperlukan suatu wadah yang dapat memberikan alternatif pemecahan masalah, yaitu adanya kegiatan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris secara gratis, namun tidak mengabaikan faktor kualitas hasil dan indahnya proses. Anak asuh di Panti Asuhan Yatim Ahmad Yani Al Muslimun pun merasakan hal yang sama. Banyak dari mereka yang berminat belajar Bahasa Inggris diluar jam sekolah namun kondisi yang ada sangat tidak memungkinkan bagi mereka untuk melakukannya. Oleh sebab itulah maka pengabdian masyarakat ini merupakan hal yang sangat tepat sasaran untuk dilakukan.Kata kunci: Bimbingan Belajar, Bahasa Inggris, Anak Asuh di Panti Asuhan

Abstract

Speaking is an ability that is taken for granted, learned as it is through process of socialization through communicating. It seems very important because by mastering speaking skill, people can carry out conversations with others, give the ideas and exchange the information with others. In the third semester of English Department, the students get difficulties to speak English well. They lack of mastering the component of speaking. They only have a little chance to practice speaking English out of class because most of their friends speak Indonesian. Students’ speaking problem can be solved by giving a lot chance to them for practicing English either in the classroom or out of classroom. Practicing speaking English in the classroom should be interested with appropriate technique in order to improve students speaking skill. One of technique can be used in teaching speaking is debate. This research was aimed to improve the third Semester Students of English Department at STKIP PGRI Tulungagung through debate technique. This research was classroom action research done in two cycles. The data collection was done using observation and test. The participants of this research were 24 students. The result of this research showed that using debate technique can improve students’ speaking skill. This was proven by students’ test score that improved in every cycle. In the first cycle, the students’ average score was 71 and in the second cycle students got 82. Thus, debate is an appropriate technique used to improve students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

Reading legend story as a kind of narrative text can be an activity in reading.Narrative is one of important text to learn. Basically using legend story will makestudent more effective to make narrative text, whereas narrative text consists offolktale. The legend is a narrative produced and transmitted orally or in writing, abouta single, extraordinary, supernatural, or marvelous, true or fictitious, believed orslighted, often dated/localized event (experience), brought up with didactic orentertaining intent; it serves to confirm, or expand the experiential horizon of therecipient and confirm or question a momentarily valid conception of the world.Legend story is kind of narrative text. The purpose of the study is to know whether ornot there is any correlation between Reading Legend Stories and Writing NarrativeText at Ninth Grade Students.The method of this study an experimental inquiry is seen as the mostappropriate approach in determining whether co-operative learning positively affectsthe test results of the Ninth Grade Students of SMPN 1 Gondang Tulungagung.Because r counts more than r product moment tables (0.462 0,206). Based on thecalculations can be concluded that test is valid. Based on the calculations can beconcluded that test is reliable because the reliability score bigger than alpha target or0.630 0, 6. Because r counts more than r product moment tables (0 630 0,6).After all of the data were analyzed accurately based on the research, now theresearcher can draw some conclusion. The r table n= 34 with α = 5% is 0.462. Basedon the calculations can be concluded that test is valid. Because r counts more than rproduct moment tables (0.462 0,206).Based on the research analysis as explained above, the researcher concludedthat there is any correlation between Reading Legend Stories and Writing NarrativeText at Ninth Grade Students of SMPN 1 Gondang Tulungagung Result of thisresearch will be useful for the English students, English teachers and otherresearchers: For the Students, Based on the result the researcher hope students willable to use reading legend story to make writing narrative text more interesting whilestudent ability of reading legend stories increase writing narrative text. For theEnglish teachers. Result of this research hope can contribute to English teacher whowill be able to improve his/her English teaching method and techniques especiallyusing legend story in improve students writing ability in writing narrative text. Abstract

In an academic setting, writing is a skill which requires a high level of cognitive competencies. It means that as the students of university should prepare themselves for always being active learners to improve their level of cognitive competencies used for their writing skills. Nowadays, the range of technologies are available to be used in the class. To make the atmosphere in the class be more challenging and interesting, there are many lecturers use technology in their writing class. As one of example, utilizing technology in writing class, especially in providing the feedback for the students to enhance students’ written performance. This research focused on analyzing the implementation of online corrective feedback (via e-mail) in the writing class. This research was conducted in the second semester students of English Department. The researcher used qualitative method to conduct this research. There were three kinds of instruments used in this research. There were interview, observation, and questionnaire. The result of this research showed that the implementation of online corrective feedback was really effective for the students’ writing skills improvement. The lecturer’s activities, the students’ responses, and the online corrective feedback implementation itself were the factors that could not be separated in gaining a successful teaching and learning process in writing class.

Abstract

The main purpose of this research was to improve the students’ pronunciation ability by using AnimatedFilms. The subject of this research were the students of first semester of English Department of STKIP PGRI Tulungagung in the academic year of 2016/2017. This research used Classroom Action Research Method. The research was conducted in two cycles from Octoberuntil Decemberat the first semester students of English Department of STKIP PGRI Tulungagung.The research data were collected by using techniques of observation,interview, and test (pre-test and post-test). The research findings prove that Animated Films could improve the first semester students’ pronunciation ability. The result of the research implies that English teachers need to choose the appropriate media in teaching pronunciation. The appropriate media to teach pronunciation is animated films

Abstract

Writing is the most challenging skill in English language learning. Researchers at SMKN 1 Rejotangan observed that most students struggled with writing in English. To address this, they implemented the peer feedback method to enhance students' writing skills. The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of peer feedback in improving students’ writing abilities. Using a convergent mixed-method design, the research involved 31 students from class XI AKC 2. Instruments included pre-tests, post-tests for quantitative data, and interviews for qualitative data. Quantitative analysis was conducted using a t-test with SPSS 27, and qualitative data were analyzed thematically. Results showed significant improvement in students' writing skills after using peer feedback, as indicated by a significance value of 0.00 < 0.05. Interviews with five selected participants also revealed positive responses. Hence, the peer feedback method positively impacted the writing abilities of class XI AKC 2 students at SMKN 1 Rejotangan.

Abstract

Writing is an important English language skill for students to learn. As technology advances, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a significant trend with diverse applications. AI has penetrated various industries, including education. The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI), specifically ChatGPT, offers a new avenue to improve writing skills. ChatGPT with its capabilities will provide feedback and support in generating ideas in writing. This study aims to see whether there is a significant influence on the writing ability of grade XI students after using ChatGPT at SMAN 1 Karangrejo. This study used an experimental quantitative method for data collection. The participants of this study were 60 eleventh-grade students, 30 students from class XI-D (control class), and 30 students from class XI-E (experimental class). The instrument in this study was a test, namely a pre-test conducted before treatment, and a post-test conducted after treatment. In analyzing the data, the researcher used the t-test method on the SPSS program. The results showed that students who used ChatGPT had an improvement in writing compared to students who were taught with the usual method. This is proven by the significance value of 0.00<0.05, which means that there is a significant difference in the initial and final scores of students who were given the treatment of using ChatGPT for the writing process. Based on this, it can be concluded that ChatGPT significantly affects the writing ability of eleventh-grade students of SMAN 1 Karangrejo.

Abstract

This research examines the correlation between the utilization of digital audio platforms, learner autonomy, and English learning outcomes among tenth-grade students in an Indonesian vocational high school. The study employed a quantitative correlational design, with 33 students chosen by purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires on digital audio platform use and learner autonomy, as well as English report card grades representing learning outcomes.  The findings revealed significant positive correlations between digital audio platform use and English learning outcomes (r = 0.701, p < 0.05), and between learner autonomy and English learning outcomes (r = 0.710, p < 0.05). A multiple correlation analysis also showed a strong combined relationship between both variables and English learning outcomes (R = 0.783, p < 0.05). This study contributes to the current literature by examining the synergistic effect of digital audio platforms and learner autonomy in a vocational EFL context. We used report card grades to measure how well students learned English. Report cards show how well students did in school over time, as judged by their teachers. The results suggest that integrating digital audio platforms with learner autonomy strategies can enhance the English proficiency of vocational students.

Abstract

Pengembangan ekonomi kreatif berbasis digital menjadi peluang strategis bagi masyarakat pedesaan untuk meningkatkan kemandirian ekonomi, namun masih banyak komunitas lokal yang belum memiliki keterampilan dan ekosistem pendukung yang memadai. Pengabdian ini bertujuan memberdayakan para pembuat konten lokal di Desa Karangrejo, Tulungagung, Indonesia dengan meningkatkan keterampilan mereka dalam pembuatan konten digital dan pemasaran afiliasi melalui Shopee Affiliate Program (SAP). Program dilaksanakan melalui pelatihan terstruktur, praktik produksi konten, dan pendampingan berbasis komunitas yang mengintegrasikan perencanaan konten, produksi video/siaran langsung, serta evaluasi karya peserta. Sebanyak 30 anggota TCC memperoleh bimbingan praktis dalam strategi unggahan ramah-algoritma, penulisan naskah promosi persuasif, dan teknik produksi video berbiaya rendah. Dua puluh tiga peserta melaporkan peningkatan pendapatan terukur dari SAP, beberapa di antaranya melampaui Rp1,5 juta per bulan, serta menunjukkan kepercayaan diri yang lebih tinggi dalam membangun personal branding dan keterlibatan digital publik. Program ini juga memperkuat praktik kolaboratif antar peserta yang mendorong terbentuknya Tulungagung Creators Hub sebagai wadah pembelajaran sejawat. Keberadaan komunitas ini berpotensi menjadi infrastruktur sosial-ekonomi jangka panjang yang mendukung pertumbuhan ekonomi kreatif desa secara berkelanjutan. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pelatihan berbasis komunitas dengan pemantauan terstruktur dapat menjadi model efektif bagi kewirausahaan digital pedesaan sekaligus katalis ketahanan ekonomi lokal.
