Abstract

Abstract. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in the Indonesian economy, including the motorcycle repair sector. However, behind their operations, workers face tough challenges, especially in terms of mental and physical workload. This study aims to measure the level of mental workload of mechanics using the NASA-TLX (National Aeronautics and Space Administration Task Load Index) method, which assesses six main aspects: mental demands, physical demands, time demands, personal performance, effort, and frustration level. The results showed that the Effort aspect had the highest score with an average of 364, followed by Physical demands (328) and Time demands (124). The operator with the highest mental workload obtained a NASA-TLX score of 82, while the lowest was 72. This high workload is caused by various factors, such as the amount of work that must be completed in a limited time, the demand for perfect work results, and the lack of manpower so that employees have to work harder. To overcome this problem, several solutions can be implemented, such as increasing the workforce, simplifying the recording process, and providing incentives for overtime workers. With these measures, it is hoped that worker welfare will improve and workshop productivity will be maintained.Keyword: Mental workload, NASA-TLX, workshop mechanic, work stress, productivity.
