Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to examine the differences in self-control based on gender among students of SMA Negeri 10 Palembang. Self-control refers to an individual’s ability to regulate behavior, emotions, and decision-making in accordance with prevailing norms, which plays an important role in adolescent development. This research employed a quantitative approach with a comparative design. The sample consisted of 63 students, including 28 males and 35 females. Data were collected using a self-control questionnaire based on a Likert scale covering behavioral control, cognitive control, and decision control aspects. The data were analyzed using an independent samples t-test with a significance level of 0.05, along with descriptive analysis. The results showed that there was no significant difference in self-control between male and female students, with a significance value of 0.505 (p > 0.05). Descriptively, male students had a slightly higher mean score than female students; however, the difference was not statistically significant. Therefore, gender does not influence the level of students’ self-control. This study suggests that future research should consider other factors such as family environment, education, and counseling interventions in influencing self-control. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kontrol diri berdasarkan jenis kelamin pada siswa SMA Negeri 10 Palembang. Kontrol diri merupakan kemampuan individu dalam mengatur perilaku, emosi, dan pengambilan keputusan sesuai dengan norma yang berlaku, yang berperan penting dalam perkembangan remaja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain komparatif. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 63 siswa yang terdiri dari 28 laki-laki dan 35 perempuan. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan angket kontrol diri berbasis skala Likert yang mencakup aspek kontrol perilaku, kontrol kognitif, dan kontrol keputusan. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji independent samples t-test dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05 serta analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kontrol diri siswa laki-laki dan perempuan, dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,505 (p > 0,05). Secara deskriptif, rata-rata kontrol diri siswa laki-laki sedikit lebih tinggi dibandingkan perempuan, namun perbedaan tersebut tidak bermakna secara statistik. Dengan demikian, jenis kelamin tidak berpengaruh terhadap tingkat kontrol diri siswa. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar penelitian selanjutnya mempertimbangkan faktor lain seperti lingkungan keluarga, pendidikan, dan intervensi bimbingan konseling dalam memengaruhi kontrol diri.
