Community food independence aims to enable people to meet their living needs independently. Family food needs can be met without spending money if the production of healthy and hygienic vegetables is carried out by themselves in the home environment. The use of yards is an effective solution to support the availability of household food. Limited land is not an obstacle because simple cultivation techniques can still be applied to narrow land. This community service activity is carried out to increase the knowledge, skills, and independence of the community in managing family food sources. The method of implementing activities includes the provision of materials related to plant cultivation, the provision of planting materials to participants, and direct practice of planting and maintaining vegetable plants. The sustainability of the program is supported through monitoring and mentoring activities by the PKM team during the cultivation process. The assistance aims to ensure that participants are able to apply the techniques that have been given appropriately. The results of the activity show that the program target has been achieved 100%. Vegetable cultivation activities in the yard have been carried out to the production stage. Mentoring is still being carried out to ensure the achievement of program goals and objectives. Success indicators are shown through increased knowledge and skills of partners, with 90% of participants having been able to cultivate crops independently. The PKM program is further suggested to be developed through food diversification by adding types of plant commodities. The application of verticulture techniques can be an alternative to limited land use. The processing of crop products also needs to be improved to support the fulfillment of daily vegetable and side dish needs in a sustainable manner.
