Abstract

Due to the widespread availability of the internet all across the world, people prefer shopping online rather than going to a shop. There are various online marketplaces available in Bangladesh, like Daraz, Pickaboo, Rokomari, Othoba, Bikroy, Food Panda, and Robi Shop. With the increasing quantity of customers on online shopping platforms, the number of product reviews also increases with it. Data is classified utilizing machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), transfer learning, and other data mining algorithms to facilitate the customer’s comprehension of the primary subject of the review before making a purchase. Natural language processing techniques are employed to categorize data in any given language for such issues. There are no Bengali shopping review datasets available on online sites. So, we manually collected a dataset of 2,600 reviews. In this paper, reviews are classified into 5 categories (satisfied, very satisfied, not satisfied, fairly satisfied, and satisfied but delivery problem). DL (long short-term memory (LSTM) and convolutional neural network (CNN)) and ML (support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), gradient boosting (GB), and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost)) model have been applied. Among the DL models, CNN has the best accuracy (91.27%), and the RF classifier provides the highest accuracy (84.39%) out of all the ML models.

Abstract

In the current digital era, the rapid development of technology has resulted in the creation of increasingly sophisticated technological products. In the marketing of these products, the use of language is indispensable. Written language explaining the steps or stages of product use is called a procedural text genre. This text plays a vital role in product marketing because it contains essential information related to product explanations, making it easy for consumers to understand. This is what underlies the importance of conducting research on the function of language in terms of meaning and language structure in the genre of technological procedure texts. By applying a qualitative method, the research data in the genre of technological procedural texts is analysed based on its linguistic functions, covering aspects of meaning and language structure. In the research findings, three language functions were obtained, namely those that contain meaning: Command, Statement, and Prohibition. These three language functions are realised in language (text) in the form/structure: Imperative and Declarative. First, commands use the imperative structure. Second, statements are structured in the declarative form. Third, prohibitions are structured imperatively; fourth, commands are structured declaratively; and finally, fifth, prohibitions are structured declaratively.

Abstract

Montgomery Watt and Patricia Crone are two figures who are concerned to examine the emergence of Islam in Mecca, whether the trigger is socio-economic, trade, or socio-political, power. Watt states that Mecca from the beginning, which was already a center of pilgrimage, in the next process became an important trading center, giving birth to master traders. In the process, these conditions gave rise to Islam there. Crone, on the other hand, says it was Arab nationalism that determined the development of Islam in Mecca and the Arabian peninsula. This research will re-examine the two theses by trying to reveal through the approach of the Qur'anic texts, because according to the author, the revelation of the Qur'anic text cannot be separated from the situation that occurred at that time. This research is librabry research with documentation research techniques. Watt's thesis is closer to the truth that it was the trade factor that triggered the emergence of Islam. Crone's opinion is not in accordance with the text of the Qur'an. In Mecca there is no text that talks about political power, because Islam is still weak with few followers. Texts related to power only appeared after the hijrah, where it was needed to protect and defend the state of Medina from outside attacks, or even to expand power because of welfare needs, where financial resources were not found in Medina.

Abstract

This study addresses the growing imperative for environmentally responsible supply chain management in Southeast Asia and the challenges of assessing corporate sustainability disclosures. Although companies increasingly produce sustainability reports, the extent to which these documents reflect genuine green practices remains unclear. This research systematically evaluates how five major Southeast Asian firms, including Unilever SEA, Nestlé Indonesia, Indofood, Danone, and ThaiBev, articulate green supply chain initiatives in reports published between 2022 and 2023. Employing a qualitative exploratory design, the study integrates document analysis with text mining and thematic coding; approximately 33,000 words from the five reports were processed, yielding 1,300 occurrences of green supply chain terms categorized into three themes: eco-packaging, green logistics, and carbon tracking. The results reveal a pronounced imbalance: eco-packaging comprised 54 percent of keywords (n = 702), green logistics 29 percent (n = 377), and carbon tracking 17 percent (n = 221). Unilever’s 9,300-word report contained 350 mentions of eco-packaging, while Danone’s 5,900-word report featured 310; carbon tracking averaged under 45 references per report. The study introduces a replicable text mining framework for ESG disclosure analysis and underscores the need for more balanced reporting, including Scope 3 emissions data. Future mixed-method approaches that combine computational analysis with qualitative validation are advocated. The findings provide evidence for policymakers and investors to refine ESG guidelines and highlight the potential of computational tools to enhance corporate accountability in sustainability reporting

Abstract

This study aims to perform sentiment analysis on reviews of the film “JUMBO” collected from the Twitter platform, using the Naive Bayes and Support Vector Machine (SVM) methods. The data were gathered through a crawling process on Twitter, yielding 2,011 tweets, which were then processed through several pre-processing steps, including case folding, cleaning, normalization, tokenization, stopword removal, and stemming. Subsequently, the data were transformed into numerical representations using TF-IDF, followed by sentiment labeling into positive, negative, and neutral categories. For the Naive Bayes method, training and evaluation were conducted using 5-fold Cross Validation. The results showed that the Naive Bayes model achieved an accuracy of 80.60%, precision of 73.83%, recall of 73.50%, and an F1-score of 69.98%. Meanwhile, the SVM method obtained an accuracy of 75.87%, precision of 76.36%, recall of 62.45%, and an F1-score of 65.64%. Compared to the baseline random classifier, which only achieved an accuracy of 32.47%, both primary methods significantly outperformed it in classifying film review sentiments. The analysis also indicates that the F1-score is lower than the accuracy due to the imbalanced data distribution, with a considerably higher number of positive reviews. This study also presents visualizations of sentiment distribution and word clouds to provide a clearer understanding of audience opinions. The results demonstrate that the Naive Bayes method performs well and has potential for use in sentiment analysis of films on social media platforms. These findings are expected to provide valuable insights for the creative industry, particularly in evaluating audience responses and improving the quality of future film productions.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the challenges faced by EFL students and the strategies they employ in writing hortatory exposition texts through the process approach. The background of this study stems from the complexity of writing as a productive skill, where EFL learners often struggle with generating ideas, selecting appropriate vocabulary, organizing sentence structures, and applying proper grammar and punctuation. Although the process approach is known to enhance writing skills effectively, research examining its implementation in Indonesian high school contexts remains limited, particularly regarding students’ challenges and the strategies they apply. This research employed a qualitative method with a case study design, involving eight XI grade students from a senior high school in Karawang who had been taught how to write hortatory exposition texts using the process approach. Data were gathered through semi-structured written interviews conducted during each stage of the writing process: pre-writing, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. The findings revealed that students encountered challenges in selecting suitable topics, developing main ideas, organizing paragraphs, and overcoming low self-confidence during the publication stage. To respond to these issues, students applied various strategies such as exploring digital platforms for topic selection, reading journal articles, creating writing outlines, requesting peer feedback, rereading drafts, and using online grammar checkers. These strategies helped the students complete their writing more confidently and systematically. The findings are expected to serve as a valuable reference for teachers and future researchers in developing more effective writing instruction.

Abstract

The interpretation of the Qur'an, especially the word jihād fī sabīlillāh, is often trapped in a standard interpretation legitimized by closed interpretations. The secure interpretations make the meaning of the word lose its original purpose. This specific interpretation makes the meaning of the word jihād fī sabīlillāh lose its original meaning. This article aims to find a methodological review that might be able to open the veil that closes the interpretation of ijtihad in the original meaning of the jihād fī sabīlillāh pronunciation. Julia Kristeva, as one of the thinkers of poststructuralism, introduced the semanalist concept known for its revolutionary interpretation methodology. This research is a type of qualitative research with the analytical-descriptive method. This study will explain the concepts of Kristeva's interpretation of a text and then applied to the interpretation of the pronunciation of Jihad. The study results conclude that the interpretation of Jihad as war is an institutional meaning. In contrast, the hidden meaning of the pronunciation of Jihad, such as 'sincerity', does not get attention and tends to be neglected.

Abstract

This article aims to define the meaning of corruption through the text of the Qur’an and contextualize it in the example of the practice of violations committed by several groups of state and regional organizations. The author tries to use the maudhu'i interpretation approach because there are not many studies using this approach and specifically about corruption. Likewise in the Islamic perspective, the text of the Qur'an mentions several terms of corruption such as al-dalw (Al-Baqarah: 188), ghulul (Ali Imran: 161), saraqah (Al-Maidah: 38), and al -suht (Al-Maidah: 42), which in its context experienced an expansion of meaning along with the development of corruption cases that occurred in Indonesia. For example the word al-dalw (Al-Baqarah: 188) implies enriching oneself or others, abuse of authority, and bribery. Ghulul (Ali Imran: 161) implies enriching oneself or others, harming state finances, abuse of authority, embezzlement, gratuity. Then Saraqah (Al-Maidah: 38) implies enriching oneself or another person, harming state finances, abuse of authority, embezzlement.

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of various language learning models in improving students' skills in writing anecdotal texts at the secondary school level. The primary research problem addresses the gap in the existing teaching methods for anecdotal text writing and the need for innovative, intercultural, and project-based learning models. The objective of the research is to evaluate the impact of project-based learning, technology, and intercultural communication strategies on students' writing and critical thinking abilities. The research method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), analyzing 50 relevant articles published in the last five years. Results show that project-based learning models and technology such as Grammarly and other digital media can improve students' writing and critical thinking skills. The intercultural approach also plays an important role in building cross-ethnic cultural understanding between teachers and students. However, there are limitations on the implementation of technology and generalization of research results, so further research is needed for the development of a more inclusive model.
