Abstract

Indonesia’s village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) play a strategic role in managing local resources to enhance the economic welfare of rural communities. However, limited access to information has led to low public awareness of their existence, business units, and development. This study aims to design and develop a web-based information system for the Melirang Hebat Village-Owned Enterprise (SIM BUMDes eMHa) as an effective medium for information dissemination and communication. The system was developed using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with the Waterfall model, encompassing requirement analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. The results demonstrate that the proposed system is capable of delivering integrated information on organizational profiles, business units, news, and partnerships. Functional testing showed that all core features operated successfully according to the specified requirements. In addition, the system improved information accessibility and supported more efficient dissemination of BUMDes-related information to the community. The implementation of this system contributes to enhancing transparency, improving information accessibility, and fostering community participation in BUMDes development.

Abstract

In the era of generative artificial intelligence (AI), university students must not only access digital information but also evaluate, verify, manage, and use it ethically for academic purposes. This study examines the relationship between academic digital literacy and academic information-seeking behavior among students at AZ University and explores whether this relationship differs by length of study, represented by admission cohort. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, data were collected from 246 respondents through a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire. The analysis included reliability testing, descriptive statistics, correlation, regression, cohort comparison, and moderation analysis. The results showed good reliability, with Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.817 and 0.806. Academic digital literacy was strongly and positively associated with academic information-seeking behavior, r = 0.639, p < 0.001, explaining 40.8% of its variance. A planned undergraduate comparison showed a stronger association among first-year students, highlighting the importance of early academic digital literacy support.

Abstract

The Rotogravure Flexible Packaging industry plays a strategic role in supporting the manufacturing supply chain by providing high-quality packaging with protective and promotional functions. However, the success of the production process is highly dependent on the effectiveness of internal communication, particularly in delivering instructions from Production Planning and Inventory Control (PPIC) to production units. Layered communication patterns through Production Admins often lead to delays, miscommunication, and loss of critical information that may hinder production targets. This study aims to analyze the role of WhatsApp Groups as a digital communication medium to accelerate information flow and improve operational coordination effectiveness. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through in-depth interviews and observations involving PPIC, Production Admins, and operational units (Printing, Dry Lamination, Extrusion Lamination, Slitting, and Bag Making). The results show that WhatsApp Groups improve speed and accuracy of communication, provide traceable documentation, reduce idle time, and minimize instruction errors. Additionally, WhatsApp Groups support digital transformation through a paperless working system. Thus, WhatsApp Groups serve as an efficient and responsive communication bridge in the Rotogravure Flexible Packaging industry.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology demands that modern educational organizations, including Islamic Religious Education (IRE) institutions, adopt highly structured, effective, efficient, and accountable management paradigms. One crucial intervention to achieve this digital modernization is the strategic application of an integrated Management Information System (MIS). This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the core concepts and operational implementation of MIS within the context of Islamic Religious Education, specifically exploring how foundational Islamic ethical values can be integrated into technological frameworks and analyzing the subsequent practical and theoretical implications. Utilizing a qualitative approach based on descriptive-analytical library research, data were systematically gathered from academic books, peer-reviewed scientific journals, and relevant policy documents. The findings indicate that MIS plays a vital, strategic role in enhancing administrative efficiency, supporting data-based decision-making, and streamlining educational evaluation processes. Crucially, the deliberate integration of core Islamic values—such as tawhid, amanah, justice, and ihsan—establishes a robust ethical infrastructure that distinguishes Islamic educational management from secular models. Ultimately, a value-driven MIS serves as an operational catalyst that successfully transforms conventional Islamic institutions into modernized, professional, and benefit-oriented educational organizations.

Abstract

Digital transformation in the Islamic finance sector is driving the increasing adoption of Islamic Accounting Information Systems (IAIS) as an important instrument to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with sharia principles. Although the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) has been widely used to explain the adoption behavior of information systems, the model tends to be value-neutral and has not fully captured the normative dimensions inherent in sharia-based accounting systems. This article aims to develop a conceptual framework for the acceptance of value-based technologies in Islamic accounting by integrating the Maqāṣid al-Sharī'ah Orientation (MSO) into the UTAUT model. Conceptually, the orientation of maqāṣid represents the extent to which the use of IAIS supports the fundamental goals of sharia, such as justice, protection of property (ḥifẓ al-māl), transparency, and moral responsibility. This integration results in a Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) not only explain the actual intentions and use of the system based on performance and ease-of-use expectations but also considers the internalization of sharia values as a determinant of user behavior. The main theoretical contribution of this research is the development of a value-based technology acceptance framework in the Islamic accounting literature. In practical terms, the proposed model has implications for system developers, regulators, and Islamic financial institutions in designing an efficient IAIS aligned with sharia objectives.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Population Administration Information System (SIAK) in Tolotio Village, Bonepantai Sub-district, Bone Bolango District. Specifically, it analyzes the operational workflow managed by the Village Registration Officer (PRC), assesses the impact of decentralized online innovations on community accessibility, and identifies the core infrastructure and data-mismatch constraints affecting daily efficiency. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research design with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with key informants including the village operator and village head complemented by field observations and documentation reviews. The results indicate that the integration of SIAK at the village level has successfully shifted the public service paradigm from bureaucratic centralization to grassroots digital integration, utilizing a hybrid workflow that combines smartphone scanning with informal WhatsApp coordination. However, the daily efficiency of the system is heavily bottlenecked by twin operational barriers: external technological failures in the form of centralized network disruptions and deeply rooted internal human errors involving data mismatches between legacy family records and authentic school diplomas. Despite these technical vulnerabilities, the localized system has drastically minimized socio-spatial isolation and transaction costs, providing unprecedented administrative ease for crucial document updates and cross-regional migration processing for the rural coastal community.

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose – This study critically examines patterns, challenges, and research gaps pertaining to information technology (IT) utilization in learning among senior high school (SMA) students in Gorontalo, Eastern Indonesiaa region characterised by significant infrastructure constraintswith the aim of generating evidence-based recommendations for contextually appropriate technology integration in secondary and vocational educational settings. Methods – A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 protocol. A structured Boolean search across four databasesGoogle Scholar, Semantic Scholar, Garuda, and DOAJyielded 287 initial results. After two-stage screening and quality appraisal using an adapted CASP checklist, five peer-reviewed articles (2019–2025) were selected for thematic comparative synthesis. Findings – Three dominant themes emerged: the conditional effectiveness of digital learning platforms under adequate infrastructure; the primacy of teacher digital literacy over infrastructure availability as a predictor of implementation success (path coefficient = 0.67 vs. 0.43); and the strategic value of offline-capable mobile learning (SUS = 78.6). Gorontalo-specific data show 62% of SMA students rely exclusively on smartphones, only 56.9% of sub-districts have 4G coverage, and a critically low proportion of teachers received ICT training in the preceding two years, according to available provincial data. Research implications – The corpus of five studies reflects a genuine literature gap. Caution is warranted in generalising findings. Interventions addressing only device access, without commensurate teacher capacity development or offline content design, will yield suboptimal outcomes across SMA and SMK contexts in under-resourced regions. Originality – This review provides the first systematic synthesis specifically examining IT utilisation in secondary education within Gorontalo's regional context, offering an evidence-based foundation for more equitable educational technology policy in Eastern Indonesia.
