Abstract

Searching for information is one major Internet activities during which information seekers may gain benefit as well as incurred some cost. In general, information seekers seldom employ any search strategy for general browsing to explore information space. On the other hand, in certain situation, they may employ certain search strategy, especially those who engage in a fact-finding activity. The objective of this research is to shed light on how search strategy can be used to gain the maximum benefit of information search activities. It borrows the two-factor theory to group Web design elements into benefit and cost manifested as motivating and hygiene factors. This research employed a laboratory experiment with 235 respondents who were participated on this research voluntarily. Respondents were divided into two groups, namely ‘plan-group’ and ‘unplan-group’. Both groups were given certain tasks related to information search. The experiment was followed by a post experiment survey. The result shows that respondents who were in the ‘plan-group’ perceived less benefit and incurred more cost compared to those in the ‘unplan-group’. The future research is proposed at the end of this manuscript.

Abstract

Recently, the significance of ship inspections hasbeen increasingly recognized because sea pollution andsafety problems are occurring more and more frequently. However, current ship inspections rely on the experience ofthe workers. Therefore, it is difficult to understand, and hence to improve, the state of ship inspections. The present problemsare that the ship inspection technical support level in China is not balanced, especially as to the current situation with low level, poor technologyin under-developed areas. In this paper, the case technology about the case-based reasoning to the ship inspection is proposed. The methods of normative inspection case representation are discussed. This is considered to be the basis of case-based reasoning. Then the tertiary case structure with the index is defined, in which the K-nearest neighbor method to calculate the similarity between caseswas used so that the ship’s inspection information can be searched effectively. In addition, animproved retrievalstrategy of the nearest neighbor method is introduced. Therefore, in the inspection site, the inspectors can acquire support information by the case bases, and then the new cases are calculated automatically. Further, a ship inspection case managementwereintroduced to improve the stability of the system. By carrying the case-based reasoning into an inspection, an inspector can generate fault information and inspection information simply and easily. Some examples of the organization and retrieval are shown at the end of the paper.

Abstract

Searching of digital images in a disorganized image collection is a challenging problem. One step of image searching is automatic image annotation. Automatic image annotation refers to the process of automatically assigning relevant text keywords to any given image, reflecting its content. In the past decade many automatic image annotation methods have been proposed and achieved promising result. However, annotation prediction from the methods is still far from accurate. To tackle this problem, in this paper we propose an automatic annotation method using relevance model and scene information. CMRM proposed by [5] is one of automatic image annotation method based on relevance model approach. CMRM method assumes that regions in an image can be described using a small vocabulary of blobs. Blobs are generated from segmentation, feature extraction, and clustering. Given a training set of images with annotations, this method predicts the probability of generating a word given the blobs in an image. To improve annotation prediction accuracy of CMRM, in this paper we utilize scene information incorporate with CMRM. Our proposed method is called scene-CMRM. Global image region can be represented by features which indicate type of scene shown in the image. Thus, annotation prediction of CMRM could be more accurate based on that scene type. Our experiments showed that, the methods provides prediction with better precision than CMRM does, where precision represents the percentage of words that is correctly predicted.

Abstract

Cooperative multicell precoding is an attractive way of improving the performance in multicell downlink scenarios especially for terminals at cell edges. Multiple base stations in a given area serve each terminal after precoding, which can coordinate the inter-cell interference and achieve higher performance. Most previous work in the area has focus on centralized precoding which requires gathering all transmitters’ channel state information (CSI) at central station (CS) through backhaul and then precoding at CS. However, the requirements on backhaul signaling and computational power scales rapidly in large and dense networks, which usually make such fully centralized approaches impractical. In this paper, we study two practical precoding strategies with only local CSI under a relatively realistic scenario. Performance is finally illustrated through numerical simulations.

Abstract

This paper discusses the formal validation for spatial information databases integration framework (SIDIF). A SIDIF database is a large, organized body of persistent data, usually associated with computerized software designed to update, query, and retrieve components of the data stored within the system. One of the common difficulties faced by the developer is in designing a robust database system. Even so, in order to solve this matter, developers have to focus their efforts on the formal specifications. The formal specification is supposed to reduce the overall development time. Formal specifications can be used to provide an unambiguous and precise supplement to natural language descriptions. Besides, it can be rigorously validated and verified leading to the early detection of specification errors. Consequently, to validate this problem formally, we specify the SIDIF database framework using Z language and prove by using Z/EVES theorem proven tool. By using this kind of tools, it may help to reduce time, energy and mistake compared to manual theorem proving which can be error task and tedious.

Abstract

Image fusion is a comprehensive information processing technique and its purpose is to enhance the reliability of the image via the processing of the redundant data among multiple images, improve the image definition and information content through fusion of the complementary information of multiple images so as to obtain the information of the objective or the scene in a more accurate, reliable and comprehensive manner. This paper uses the sparse representation method of compressive sensing theory, proposes a multi-source and multi-feature image information fusion method based on compressive sensing in accordance with the features of image fusion, performs sparsification processing on the source image with K-SVD algorithm and OMP algorithm to transfer from spatial domain to frequency domain and decomposes into low-frequency part and high-frequency park. Then it fuses with different fusion rules and the experimental results prove that the method of this paper is better than the traditional methods and it can obtain better fusion effects.

Abstract

Financial transactions recorded into accounting journals based on the evidence of the transaction. There are several kinds of evidence of transactions, such as invoices, receipts, notes, memos and others.  Invoice as one of transaction receipt has many forms that it contains a variety of information.  The information contained in the invoice identified based on rules.  Identifiable information includes: invoice date, supplier name, invoice number, product ID, product name, quantity of product and total price.  In this paper, we proposed accounting ontology and Indonesian accounting dictionary. It can be used in intelligence accounting systems. Accounting ontology provides an overview of account mapping within an organization. The accounting dictionary helps in determining the account names used in accounting journals.  Accounting journal created automatically based on accounting evidence identification.  We have done a simulation of the 160 Indonesian accounting evidences, with the result of precision 86.67%, recall 92.86% and f-measure 89.67%.

Abstract

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) allow vehicles to contact one another to provide safety and comfort applications. However, mobility is a great challenge in VANETs. High vehicle speed causes topological changes that result in unstable networks. Therefore, most previous studies focused on using clustering techniques in roads to reduce the effect of vehicle mobility and enhance network stability. Vehicles stop moving at intersections, and their mobility does not impact clustering. However, none of previous studies discussed the impact of vehicle stopping at intersections on base stations (BSs). Vehicles that have stopped moving at intersections continue to send the same information to BSs, which causes duplicated information. Hence, this study proposes a new method named dynamic multiagent (DMA) to filter cluster information and prevent duplicated information from being sent to BSs at intersections. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated through simulations during the use of DMA and without-DMA (W-DMA) methods based on real data collected from 10 intersections in Batu Pahat City, Johor, Malaysia. Overall, the proposed DMA method results in a considerable reduction in duplicated information at intersections, with an average percentage of 81% from the W-DMA method.

Abstract

Cluster-based information retrieval is one of the information retrieval (IR) tools that organize, extract features and categorize the web documents according to their similarity. Unlike traditional approaches, cluster-based IR is fast in processing large datasets of document. To improve the quality of retrieved documents, increase the efficiency of IR and reduce irrelevant documents from user search. In this paper, we proposed a (K-means)-hierarchical parallel genetic algorithms approach (HPGA) that combines the K-means clustering algorithm with hybrid PG of multi-deme and master/slave PG algorithms. K-means uses to cluster the population to k subpopulations then take most clusters relevant to the query to manipulate in a parallel way by the two levels of genetic parallelism, thus, irrelevant documents will not be included in subpopulations, as a way to improve the quality of results. Three common datasets (NLP, CISI, and CACM) are used to compute the recall, precision, and F-measure averages. Finally, we compared the precision values of three datasets with Genetic-IR and classic-IR. The proposed approach precision improvements with IR-GA were 45% in the CACM, 27% in the CISI, and 25% in the NLP. While, by comparing with Classic-IR, (K-means)-HPGA got 47% in CACM, 28% in CISI, and 34% in NLP.
