Abstract

PT. Visitor Management Information System during the Covid-19 Pandemic Abstract: PT. Epson Batam (PEB) is a multinational company with more than 3000 employees. The number of guests (non-employees) who come to PT. Epson Batam every day such as visits from government agencies, company partners, vendors and suppliers, causes the need for special applications that can make it easier for companies to manage the data of guests who visit the company and make it easier for company security to record and recap guests who visit the company. This study aims to design a visitor management information system during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on the feedback from users, it is concluded that the system developed can be used and functions well but needs development that allows an integrated information system with temperature measuring devices. Keywords: Covid-19, Information System, Management Visitor.

Abstract

Nature has its due course and disaster is always an aftermath of a catastrophic event. The purpose of this study is to assess the sources of information, training needs, preparation, and response of the community to disaster. To achieve this purpose, the study used a descriptive design with the survey as the instrument for data gathering. For the respondents, 136 individuals took part in the survey which took two months to accommodate. The researcher created a simple survey instrument and subjected it to reliability and validity tests. In analyzing the data, the researcher used weighted mean, standard deviation, t-test, and analysis of variance. Results showed that the radio is the most common source of information to disaster. Respondents emphasized the need for disaster training in the community and they also indicated that they partially observed the preparation and response in their communities. At the same time, there were significant differences observed in the sources of information, training needs, preparation, and response to the disaster of the respondents when grouped according to their communities. Furthermore, a significant difference emerged in the training needs when grouped according to the members of the family. Based on the results, the researcher recommends a community disaster preparation enhancement program for the involved communities in the study.

Abstract

Search is an important aspect of information management often taken for granted. Domain specific repositories are growing in both size and numbers calling for efficient search and retrieval of documents. This paper explores the possible techniques and necessary system components for a search engine charting several iterative optimizations over the last few years. This paper focuses on NLP models while retaining basic principles from other methods that assist in information search.

Abstract

The study described the extent of knowledge in ICT skills of 180 teachers as a basis for a training plan in a selected schools division in Region 3. A descriptive survey method was utilized having a weighted mean and standard deviation to treat the data collected. It was concluded that the teachers displayed a proficient extent of knowledge in basic ICT skills. However, some of the skills enumerated have a low mean and were close to the adjacent group scale of the lower level of knowledge. Furthermore, they showed limited knowledge in some advanced computer applications which are necessary for the construction of instructional materials. The self-assessment revealed that they are knowledgeable in ICT skills, but they do not know how to use it in complex applications. The skills for development based on the training needs assessment reiterated a combination of skills which further clarified that not all skills under a certain application are known. It is then recommended that training needs assessment should always be conducted by school administrators to gather data on the actual needs of the teachers as a basis in planning a thorough training matrix to ensure that the development and training provided are based on the needs of the teachers.

Abstract

Abstract: One  of the  zoonosis in Indonesia is leptospirosis. Leptospirosis is caused due  to infection  of bacteria Leptospira. There  were  107 cases and  9 deaths due  to leptospirosis in Sampang. The  incidence of leptospirosis in Sampang was an outbreak. The purpose of this study  was to map the distribution  of leptospirosis cases in Sampang in 2013 and to analyze environmental risk factors of leptospirosis cases (rainfall, altitude, and the presence of flood). This study  was an observational-descriptive study  and used cross-sectional study  design. The unit of analysis  of the study was administrative  regions  based on the districts.  There was patients  of leptospirosis in 4 districts in Sampang regency, there are Sampang district, Camplong district Robatal district and Omben district. The highest incidence of leptospirosis in Sampang regency was occured in Sampang district with rainfall more than 177.6 mm,  altitude less  than 47mdpl, and had experienced flooding.  Mapping  the incidence of leptospirosis showed the distribution  of leptospirosis cases tend to be  concentrated in Sampang district which  had a history of flooding  status.  The conclusion is rainfall, altitude, and presence of flood are risk factors  of leptospirosis. The advice is to improve  surveillance of patients  with leptospirosis particularly during floods,  to do outreach to the community, to perform cross-sector cooperation, to avoid or to reduce the frequency of direct contact with the flood to minimize  transmission of leptospirosis. Keywords: leptospirosis incidence, risk factors,  mapping

Abstract

Today concerns for environmental sustainability practices are getting lots of attention due to the regulatory requirements, market pressure and natural resources deterioration. While many businesses have responded these demands by incorporating sustainable thinking into their strategies, in the same vein, researchers have attempted to provide different ground in understanding environmental sustainability best practices. IS researchers is no exception due to the growing recognition that the ICT and IS as being part of the solution to the environmental sustainability problem. This study, therefore, addresses this call by presenting the results of longitudinal and indepth investigation of an IS design for supporting environmental information management and referred as Environmental Information Management System (EIMS). To better understand how a new EIMS can be designed, it then considers the design of a new Web Mapping Portal to assist farmers in land management and monitoring as a fruitful empirical context of investigation. Overall, the findings of this study show the value of IS scholars going beyond the dominant research on IS designed for supporting business (e.g. ERP, SCM and ERP) into more emerging research stream by addressing research question on how can IS be designed to address the complex problem in environmental sustainability.
