Abstract

Monitoring student attendance and evaluating their performance in each lab lecture form the basis of the final evaluation at the end of the semester. These records (assessment, attendance) are stored on paper lists. Manual methods include a number of drawbacks, such as time loss, inaccurate results from human mistake, and difficulty obtaining reports when required. In order to address the problems with the manual student attendance and assessment technique, this study makes use of an Arduino Mega. In addition to assigning scores for each lab assignment, lecturers can input each student's attendance and performance rating. Together with the student's attendance record, these grades are stored in text files that may be accessed using Excel spreadsheets. The proposed approach aims to enhance information accessibility, reduce the amount of time spent on manual chores, and make it easier to obtain final evaluation results. It also reduces results accuracy, human error, and administrative overhead.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to provide an innovative solution to enhance communication between students and university administration by designing a student complaint management system. In this context, the system is designed to facilitate efficient and effective handling of student complaints. Through a web-based application, students can easily submit complaints anytime and anywhere using an internet-connected device. The key features of the developed system include online complaint submission, real-time notifications, complaint status tracking, and a complaint management system that enables university administrators to respond to and resolve issues more promptly. The success indicators of this system include a fast response time—where complaints can be processed quickly—and a high level of user satisfaction regarding the efficiency and ease of use of the system. In this study, we adopted the Waterfall development methodology due to its structured and systematic approach, which facilitates planning and testing at each stage of development. This method allows developers to focus on one phase at a time, reducing the risk of errors during implementation. Furthermore, the Laravel framework was chosen for its ease of management, Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture—which separates application logic from the user interface—and robust security features to protect user data and system integrity. The results of this study demonstrate that a student complaint system can be successfully designed and implemented, offering an effective solution for complaint management in educational settings. With this system, communication between students and university staff is expected to improve, and issues can be resolved more efficiently.

Abstract

Tropical diseases are common in tropical and subtropical regions and are often difficult to diagnose due to symptoms that resemble other conditions and limited access to healthcare facilities. This study aims to develop a self-diagnosis application that integrates the Certainty Factor and Dempster-Shafer methods to improve the accuracy and reliability of tropical disease diagnosis. The application is expected to assist the public in conducting preliminary diagnoses independently, enabling timely treatment and reducing mortality and morbidity rates. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of these two artificial intelligence methods, offering an innovative solution to enhance diagnostic capabilities. The system achieved an accuracy rate of 83% based on testing, with the Certainty Factor method addressing uncertainty in symptom inputs, while the Dempster-Shafer method complements its limitations by managing uncertainty more adaptively. This combination enables more comprehensive diagnostic recommendations. However, challenges remain in cases with limited symptom data, indicating the need for further development to enhance algorithm performance and expand the clinical database

Abstract

With its rich diversity of ethnicities, cultures, races, and religions, Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest number of regional languages in the world. This linguistic diversity often leads to communication challenges, particularly when conveying information or engaging in textual conversations. This study aims to identify and classify the Toraja, Batak, and Ambon languages using machine learning-based computational methods. The techniques employed include Decision Tree and Gradient Boost algorithms to evaluate the accuracy of each model. The results demonstrate that both Decision Tree and Gradient Boost are effective in language identification, achieving accuracy rates above 77%. However, based on the confusion matrix analysis, the Gradient Boost method proved to be more effective, with an accuracy rate of 81.06%, compared to 78.39% achieved by the Decision Tree. These findings suggest that Gradient Boost offers better performance for classifying these regional languages.
